1 T he word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

2 N ow, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus;

„Fiul omului, rosteşte o cântare de jale despre Tir!

3 a nd say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord God; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.

Spune-i Tirului, care locuieşte la intrarea mării şi face negoţ cu popoarele din ostroavele cele multe, că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Tirule, tu ziceai: ‘Sunt de o frumuseţe desăvârşită!’

4 T hy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.

Hotarele îţi erau în inima mării, iar constructorii tăi te făcuseră desăvârşit de frumos.

5 T hey have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.

Îţi căptuşiseră toate laturile corăbiei cu lemn de pin din Senir, iar din cedrii de Liban îţi făcuseră un catarg.

6 O f the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim.

Din stejari de Başan îţi făcuseră vâsle, iar puntea ţi-o făcuseră din chiparos de pe ţărmul Chitimului, încrustat cu fildeş.

7 F ine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.

Din in subţire şi brodat, adus din Egipt, îţi era vela, slujindu-ţi şi drept steag. Din pânză albastră şi purpurie, adusă din ostroavele Elişa, îţi era tenda.

8 T he inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.

Locuitorii din Sidon şi din Arvad îţi erau vâslaşi şi cei mai înţelepţi din Tir îţi slujeau ca marinari.

9 T he ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.

Meşterii cu vechime şi iscusiţi din Ghebal îţi dregeau crăpăturile. Toate corăbiile mării cu marinarii lor treceau pe la tine ca să facă schimb de mărfuri.

10 T hey of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.

Cei din Persia, din Lud şi din Put slujeau ca ostaşi în armata ta; ei îşi atârnau scutul şi coiful pe zidurile tale şi îţi dădeau astfel strălucire.

11 T he men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.

Bărbaţii din Arvad şi Helek stăteau de jur împrejur pe zidurile tale, iar cei din Gamad erau aşezaţi în turnurile tale. Ei îşi atârnau scuturile pe zidurile tale, de jur împrejur, şi îţi desăvârşeau astfel frumuseţea.

12 T arshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.

Tarşişul făcea negoţ cu tine pentru că aveai din belşug tot felul de mărfuri. El îţi oferea în schimbul produselor tale argint, fier, cositor şi plumb.

13 J avan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.

Iavanul, Tubalul şi Meşekul făceau negoţ cu tine, oferindu-ţi în schimbul produselor tale sclavi şi vase de bronz.

14 T hey of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.

Cei din Bet-Togarma îţi oferea în schimbul produselor tale cai, armăsari de luptă şi catâri.

15 T he men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.

Rodaniţii făceau negoţ cu tine şi multe alte ostroave aveau parte de marfa ta; ei îţi dădeau în schimb ca plată coarne de fildeş şi de abanos.

16 S yria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.

Aramul făcea negoţ cu tine pentru că aveai o mulţime de bunuri meşteşugăreşti, oferindu-ţi în schimbul produselor tale smarald, purpură, haine brodate, in subţire, coral şi rubin.

17 J udah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.

Iuda şi ţara lui Israel făcea negoţ cu tine, oferindu-ţi în schimbul produselor tale grâu de Minit, panag, miere, ulei şi balsam.

18 D amascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.

Damascul făcea negoţ cu tine pentru că aveai o mulţime de bunuri meşteşugăreşti şi tot felul de mărfuri din belşug. El îţi oferea vin de Helbon şi lână de Ţahar.

19 D an also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.

Daniţii şi grecii din Uzal făceau negoţ cu tine; în schimbul produselor tale îţi dădeau fier prelucrat, casia şi trestie plăcut mirositoare.

20 D edan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.

Dedan făcea negoţ cu tine cu învelitori pentru şei.

21 A rabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they thy merchants.

Arabia şi toţi prinţii Chedarului erau şi ei printre cei cu care făceai negoţ; ei îţi aduceau oi, berbeci şi capre.

22 T he merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.

Negustorii din Şeba şi Rama făceau negoţ cu tine, oferindu-ţi în schimbul produselor tale ce era mai bun din tot felul de arome, tot felul de pietre scumpe şi aur.

23 H aran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants.

Haran, Cane, Eden şi negustorii din Şeba, Asiria şi Chilmad făceau negoţ cu tine.

24 T hese were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.

Ei făceau negoţ cu tine, aducând în pieţele tale haine scumpe, materiale de culoare albastră, veşminte brodate, veşminte colorate, legate cu funii împletite şi strâns înnodate.

25 T he ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.

Corăbiile de Tarşiş călătoreau ducându-ţi marfa. Erai umplut şi încărcat din plin în inima mărilor.

26 T hy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.

Vâslaşii te duseseră la ape adânci, dar vântul de răsărit te va sfărâma în inima mărilor.

27 T hy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.

Bogăţia ta, produsele tale, marfa ta, marinarii tăi, cârmacii tăi, cei ce-ţi dregeau fisurile, cei ce făceau schimb de mărfuri cu tine, toţi ostaşii pe care-i aveai şi toată mulţimea din mijlocul tău se vor prăbuşi în inima mărilor, în ziua scufundării tale.

28 T he suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.

La vuietul ţipetelor cârmacilor tăi ostroavele se vor cutremura.

29 A nd all that handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;

Toţi cei ce trag la rame, marinarii şi toţi cârmacii de pe mare, se vor da jos din corăbiile lor şi vor sta pe ţărm.

30 a nd shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:

Vor striga cu glas tare din pricina ta şi se vor tângui cu amărăciune; îşi vor arunca cu ţărână pe cap şi se vor tăvăli în cenuşă.

31 a nd they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.

Se vor rade pe cap din pricina ta şi se vor îmbrăca cu saci; te vor plânge cu sufletul amărât, bocind cu amar.

32 A nd in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?

În tânguirea lor, vor face o cântare de jale cu privire la tine şi te vor boci astfel: ‘Cine era ca Tir, ca cel ce zace acum în mijlocul mării?’

33 W hen thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.

Când ieşeau mărfurile tale din mijlocul mărilor, săturai multe popoare. Prin mulţimea bogăţiilor şi produselor tale îi îmbogăţeai pe regii pământului.

34 I n the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.

Acum însă eşti sfărâmat de mări, în adâncurile apelor. Încărcătura ta şi toată mulţimea din mijlocul tău s-au scufundat odată cu tine.

35 A ll the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance.

Toţi locuitorii ostroavelor sunt înmărmuriţi din pricina ta; regilor lor li s-a zbârlit părul de groază şi li s-au înspăimântat feţele.

36 T he merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.

Negustorii popoarelor fluieră de uimire din pricina ta. Ai parte de un sfârşit îngrozitor şi nu vei mai exista niciodată!»“
