1 T hen came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

Atunci nişte farisei şi nişte cărturari au venit din Ierusalim la Isus şi L-au întrebat:

2 W hy do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

– De ce ucenicii Tăi încalcă tradiţia bătrânilor ? Căci ei nu-şi spală mâinile înainte să mănânce!

3 B ut he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Isus le-a răspuns: – Dar voi de ce încălcaţi porunca lui Dumnezeu de dragul tradiţiei voastre?

4 F or God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

Căci Dumnezeu a zis: „Cinsteşte-i pe tatăl tău şi pe mama ta!“ şi „Cel ce îşi blestemă tatăl sau mama trebuie să fie pedepsit cu moartea“.

5 B ut ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

Însă voi ziceţi: „Dacă cineva îi spune tatălui său sau mamei sale: «Orice ai putea primi de la mine este deja închinat ca dar lui Dumnezeu!»,

6 a nd honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

acela nu mai este dator să-şi cinstească tatăl (sau mama) “. Şi anulaţi astfel Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu de dragul tradiţiei voastre.

7 Y e hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

Ipocriţilor! Bine a profeţit Isaia despre voi când a zis:

8 T his people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

„Poporul acesta Mă cinsteşte cu buzele, dar inima lui este departe de Mine!

9 B ut in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Degeaba însă Mi se închină ei, dând ca învăţături nişte porunci de-ale oamenilor!“ Lucrurile care-l spurcă pe om

10 A nd he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

Isus a chemat mulţimea şi a zis: „Ascultaţi şi înţelegeţi!

11 n ot that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Nu ceea ce intră în gură îl spurcă pe om, ci ceea ce iese din gură, aceea îl spurcă pe om!“

12 T hen came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

Atunci ucenicii Lui au venit şi I-au zis: – Ştii că fariseii s-au poticnit la auzul acestor cuvinte?

13 B ut he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Isus le-a răspuns: – Orice plantă pe care nu a sădit-o Tatăl Meu ceresc va fi dezrădăcinată.

14 L et them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Lăsaţi-i; sunt nişte călăuze oarbe (pentru cei orbi). Şi dacă un orb călăuzeşte un alt orb, amândoi vor cădea în groapă.

15 T hen answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

Petru I-a zis: – Explică-ne pilda aceasta!

16 A nd Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

Isus a zis: – Şi voi tot fără pricepere sunteţi?

17 D o not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

Nu înţelegeţi că orice intră în gură merge în stomac, iar apoi este aruncat afară, în latrină?

18 B ut those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Dar ceea ce iese din gură vine din inimă şi aceea îl spurcă pe om.

19 F or out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Căci din inimă ies gândurile rele, crimele, adulterele, curviile, furturile, mărturiile mincinoase şi blasfemiile.

20 t hese are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Acestea sunt lucrurile care îl spurcă pe om! Însă a mânca cu mâinile nespălate nu-l spurcă pe om! Credinţa canaanitei

21 T hen Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

Isus a plecat de acolo şi S-a dus în părţile Tirului şi ale Sidonului.

22 A nd, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

Şi iată că o femeie canaanită din acea regiune a venit strigând: – Ai milă de mine, Doamne, Fiul lui David! Fiica mea este demoniacă şi suferă cumplit!

23 B ut he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

Isus nu i-a răspuns nimic. Ucenicii s-au apropiat şi L-au rugat, zicându-i: – Dă-i drumul, căci continuă să strige după noi!

24 B ut he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Isus însă le-a răspuns: – Nu sunt trimis decât la oile pierdute ale casei lui Israel.

25 T hen came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Dar ea a venit şi I s-a închinat, zicând: – Doamne, ajută-mă!

26 B ut he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

Isus i-a răspuns: – Nu este bine să se ia pâinea copiilor şi să se arunce la căţeluşi!

27 A nd she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

– Da, Doamne, a zis ea, dar şi căţeluşii mănâncă firimiturile care cad de la masa stăpânilor lor!

28 T hen Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Atunci Isus i-a răspuns: – O, femeie, mare este credinţa ta! Să ţi se facă după cum doreşti! Şi fiica ei a fost vindecată chiar în ceasul acela. Isus hrăneşte peste patru mii de oameni

29 A nd Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

Isus a plecat de acolo şi a mers de-a lungul Mării Galileii. Apoi a urcat pe munte şi S-a aşezat acolo.

30 A nd great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:

Au venit la El mulţimi mari de oameni, având cu ei şchiopi, orbi, schilozi, muţi şi mulţi alţi bolnavi. I-au aşezat la picioarele Lui, iar El i-a vindecat,

31 i nsomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

astfel că mulţimea s-a minunat văzând că cei muţi vorbesc, cei schilozi se însănătoşesc, cei şchiopi umblă, iar cei orbi văd; şi Îl slăveau pe Dumnezeul lui Israel.

32 T hen Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

Isus i-a chemat pe ucenicii Săi şi le-a zis: – Mi-e milă de mulţime, pentru că sunt deja trei zile de când stau cu Mine şi nu au ce să mănânce. Nu vreau să-i las să plece flămânzi, ca nu cumva să leşine pe drum.

33 A nd his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

Ucenicii I-au zis: – De unde să luăm în pustia aceasta atâtea pâini, ca să se sature o asemenea mulţime?!

34 A nd Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

Isus i-a întrebat: – Câte pâini aveţi? – Şapte … şi câţiva peştişori, I-au răspuns ei.

35 A nd he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

Isus i-a poruncit mulţimii să se aşeze pe pământ.

36 A nd he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

Apoi a luat cele şapte pâini şi peştişorii, a adus mulţumiri, le-a frânt şi le-a dat ucenicilor, iar ucenicii le-au împărţit mulţimilor.

37 A nd they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

Au mâncat toţi şi s-au săturat; şi au strâns şapte coşuri pline cu firimiturile rămase.

38 A nd they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

Cei ce mâncaseră erau patru mii de bărbaţi, în afară de femei şi de copii.

39 A nd he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

După ce le-a dat drumul mulţimilor, Isus S-a suit în barcă şi S-a dus în regiunea Magadan.
