1 A nd after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

După şase zile, Isus i-a luat cu Sine pe Petru, pe Iacov şi pe Ioan, fratele acestuia, şi i-a dus, doar pe ei, pe un munte înalt.

2 a nd was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Acolo I-a fost schimbată înfăţişarea înaintea lor. Faţa Lui a strălucit ca soarele, iar hainele Lui au devenit strălucitoare ca lumina.

3 A nd, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Şi iată că li s-au arătat Moise şi Ilie, stând de vorbă cu El.

4 T hen answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

Petru I-a zis lui Isus: – Doamne, este bine să fim aici! Dacă vrei, voi face aici trei corturi: unul pentru Tine, unul pentru Moise şi unul pentru Ilie!

5 W hile he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

În timp ce vorbea el, iată că un nor strălucitor i-a acoperit, iar un glas din nor a zis: „Acesta este Fiul Meu preaiubit, în Care-Mi găsesc plăcerea! De El să ascultaţi! “

6 A nd when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

Când au auzit glasul, ucenicii au căzut cu faţa la pământ şi s-au înspăimântat foarte tare.

7 A nd Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

Isus a venit la ei, i-a atins şi le-a zis: – Ridicaţi-vă şi nu vă temeţi!

8 A nd when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

Când şi-au ridicat privirea, n-au mai văzut pe nimeni, decât pe Isus singur.

9 A nd as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

În timp ce coborau de pe munte, Isus le-a poruncit: – Să nu spuneţi nimănui despre viziune, până când nu va fi înviat Fiul Omului dintre cei morţi!

10 A nd his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

Ucenicii L-au întrebat: – Atunci de ce spun cărturarii că trebuie să vină mai întâi Ilie?

11 A nd Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

El le-a răspuns: – Într-adevăr, Ilie vine, şi el va restaura toate lucrurile.

12 B ut I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

Dar Eu vă spun că Ilie a venit deja, însă ei nu l-au recunoscut, ci au făcut cu el ce-au vrut. Tot aşa urmează să sufere şi Fiul Omului din partea lor.

13 T hen the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Atunci ucenicii au înţeles că le vorbise despre Ioan Botezătorul. Ucenicii nu pot vindeca un copil demoniac

14 A nd when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

Când au ajuns la mulţime, un om a venit la El, a îngenuncheat înaintea Lui

15 L ord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

şi I-a zis: – Doamne, ai milă de fiul meu, căci este epileptic şi suferă cumplit! El cade adesea în foc şi cade adesea în apă!

16 A nd I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

L-am adus la ucenicii Tăi, dar n-au putut să-l vindece.

17 T hen Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

Isus a răspuns: – O, generaţie necredincioasă şi pervertită! Până când voi mai fi cu voi? Până când vă voi mai răbda? Aduceţi-l aici la Mine!

18 A nd Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

Isus a certat demonul şi acesta a ieşit afară din el. Şi copilul a fost vindecat chiar în ceasul acela.

19 T hen came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

Atunci ucenicii au venit doar ei la Isus şi L-au întrebat: – Noi de ce n-am putut să-l scoatem?

20 A nd Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

El le-a răspuns: – Din pricina puţinei voastre credinţe! Adevărat vă spun că, dacă aţi avea credinţă cât un bob de muştar, aţi zice acestui munte: „Mută-te de aici, acolo!“, iar el s-ar muta! Nimic nu v-ar fi imposibil!

21 H owbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

(Dar acest soi de demoni nu iese afară decât cu rugăciune şi post.) Isus vorbeşte din nou despre moartea şi învierea Sa

22 A nd while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

În timp ce erau adunaţi în Galileea, Isus le-a zis: „Fiul Omului urmează să fie trădat în mâinile oamenilor.

23 a nd they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

Ei Îl vor omorî, dar a treia zi va fi înviat“. Ei s-au întristat foarte tare. Taxa pentru Templu

24 A nd when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

Când au ajuns în Capernaum, au venit la Petru cei ce încasau didrahma pentru Templu şi l-au întrebat: – Învăţătorul vostru nu plăteşte didrahma pentru Templu ?

25 H e saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

El le-a răspuns: – Ba da. Când Petru a intrat în casă, Isus a vorbit primul şi a zis: – Ce părere ai, Simone? De la cine strâng regii pământului tributuri sau taxe? De la fiii lor sau de la străini?

26 P eter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

Petru I-a răspuns: – De la străini. Isus i-a zis: – Aşadar, fiii sunt scutiţi.

27 N otwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Totuşi, ca să nu-i facem să se poticnească, du-te la mare, aruncă undiţa şi trage afară primul peşte care va veni. Când îi vei deschide gura, vei găsi un stater; ia-l şi dă-li-l lor pentru Mine şi pentru tine!
