1 A nd after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

¶ Y después de seis días, Jesús toma a Pedro, y a Jacobo, y a Juan su hermano, y los lleva aparte a un monte alto;

2 a nd was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Y se transfiguró delante de ellos; y resplandeció su rostro como el sol, y sus vestidos fueron blancos como la luz.

3 A nd, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Y he aquí les aparecieron Moisés y Elías, hablando con él.

4 T hen answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

Y respondiendo Pedro, dijo a Jesús: Señor, bien es que nos quedemos aquí; si quieres, hagamos aquí tres tabernáculos: para ti uno, y para Moisés otro, y otro para Elías.

5 W hile he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Y estando aún él hablando, he aquí una nube de luz que los cubrió; y una voz de la nube, que dijo: Este es mi Hijo amado, en el cual tomo contentamiento; a El oíd.

6 A nd when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

Y oyendo esto los discípulos, cayeron sobre sus rostros, y temieron en gran manera.

7 A nd Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

Entonces Jesús llegando, los tocó, y dijo: Levantaos, y no temáis.

8 A nd when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

Y alzando ellos sus ojos, a nadie vieron, sino a Jesús solo.

9 A nd as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

Y como descendieron del monte, les mandó Jesús, diciendo: No digáis a nadie la visión, hasta que el Hijo del hombre resucite de los muertos.

10 A nd his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

Entonces sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Por qué dicen, pues, los escribas que es necesario que Elías venga primero?

11 A nd Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: a la verdad, Elías vendrá primero, y restituirá todas las cosas.

12 B ut I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

Mas os digo que ya vino Elías, y no le conocieron; antes hicieron con él todo lo que quisieron; así también el Hijo del hombre padecerá de ellos.

13 T hen the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Los discípulos entonces entendieron, que les habló de Juan el Bautista.

14 A nd when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

¶ Cuando ellos llegaron a la multitud, vino a él un hombre hincándose de rodillas,

15 L ord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

Y diciendo: Señor, ten misericordia de mi hijo, que es lunático, y padece malamente; porque muchas veces cae en el fuego, y muchas en el agua.

16 A nd I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

Y lo he presentado a tus discípulos, y no le han podido sanar.

17 T hen Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación infiel y torcida! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo os he de sufrir? Traédmelo acá.

18 A nd Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

Y Jesús le reprendió, y salió el demonio de él; y el niño fue sano desde aquella hora.

19 T hen came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

Entonces, acercándose los discípulos a Jesús, aparte, dijeron: ¿Por qué nosotros no lo pudimos echar fuera?

20 A nd Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Y Jesús les dijo: Por vuestra infidelidad; porque de cierto os digo, que si tuviereis fe como un grano de mostaza, diréis a este monte: Pásate de aquí allá; y se pasará; y nada os será imposible.

21 H owbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Mas este linaje de demonios no sale sino por oración y ayuno.

22 A nd while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

¶ Y estando ellos en Galilea, Jesús les dijo: El Hijo del hombre será entregado en manos de hombres,

23 a nd they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

Y le matarán; mas al tercer día resucitará. Y ellos se entristecieron en gran manera.

24 A nd when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

¶ Cuando llegaron a Capernaum, vinieron a Pedro los que cobraban las dos dracmas, y dijeron: ¿Vuestro Maestro no paga las dos dracmas?

25 H e saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

Y él dice: Sí. Y entrando él en casa, Jesús le habló antes, diciendo: ¿Qué te parece, Simón? Los reyes de la tierra, ¿de quién cobran los tributos o el censo? ¿De sus hijos o de los extraños?

26 P eter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

Pedro le dice: De los extraños. Jesús le dijo: Luego los hijos están exentos.

27 N otwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Sin embargo, para que no los ofendamos, ve al mar, y echa el anzuelo, y el primer pez que viniere, tómalo, y abierta su boca, hallarás un estatero: tómalo, y dáselo por mí y por ti.
