1 W herefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

Por tanto, Job, oye ahora mis razones, y escucha todas mis palabras.

2 B ehold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.

He aquí yo abriré ahora mi boca, y mi lengua hablará en mi boca.

3 M y words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.

Mis razones declararán la rectitud de mi corazón, y mis labios proferirán conocimiento puro.

4 T he Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

El espíritu de Dios me hizo, y el soplo del Omnipotente me dio vida.

5 I f thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.

Si pudieres, respóndeme; dispón tus palabras, estás delante de mí.

6 B ehold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay.

Heme aquí a mí en lugar de Dios, conforme a tu dicho: De lodo soy yo también formado.

7 B ehold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.

He aquí que mi terror no te espantará, ni mi mano se agravará sobre ti.

8 S urely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,

De cierto tú dijiste a oídos míos, y yo oí la voz de tus palabras que decían:

9 I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

Yo soy limpio y sin rebelión; y soy inocente, y no hay iniquidad en mí.

10 B ehold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,

He aquí que Dios buscó achaques contra mí, y me tiene por su enemigo;

11 h e putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

puso mis pies en el cepo, y guardó todas mis sendas.

12 B ehold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

He aquí en esto no has hablado justamente; yo te responderé que mayor es Dios que el hombre.

13 W hy dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

¶ ¿Por qué tomaste pleito contra él? Porque él no contestará todas sus palabras.

14 F or God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

Sin embargo, en una o en dos maneras habla Dios al que no ve.

15 I n a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

Por sueño de visión nocturna, cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres, cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho;

16 t hen he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

entonces revela al oído de los hombres, y les sella su instrucción;

17 t hat he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

para quitar al hombre de su propia obra, y cubrir al varón de la soberbia.

18 H e keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

Así detendrá su alma de corrupción, y su vida de ser pasado a espada.

19 H e is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

También sobre su cama es castigado con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos,

20 S o that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.

que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan, y su alma la comida suave.

21 H is flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

Su carne desfallece sin verse, y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen.

22 Y ea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

Su alma se acercará al sepulcro, y su vida a los enterradores.

23 I f there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

Si tuviera cerca de él un mensajero, un intérprete, uno entre mil que mostrare al hombre su rectitud;

24 t hen he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia, que lo libró de descender al sepulcro, que halló rescate;

25 H is flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:

se enternecerá su carne más que de niño, y volverá a los días de su juventud.

26 h e shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

Orará a Dios, y le amará, y verá su faz con gritos de alegría; y él dará al hombre el pago de su justicia.

27 H e looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

El mira sobre los hombres; y el que dijere: Pequé, y pervertí lo recto, y no me ha aprovechado;

28 h e will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

Dios rescatará su alma, que no pase a la huesa, y su vida se verá en luz.

29 L o, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,

He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios dos y tres veces con el hombre;

30 t o bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

para apartar su alma de la huesa, e iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes.

31 M ark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.

Escucha, Job, y óyeme; calla, y yo hablaré.

32 I f thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.

Y si tuvieres palabras, respóndeme; habla, porque yo te quiero justificar.

33 I f not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.

Y si no, óyeme tú a mí; calla, y te enseñaré sabiduría.
