1 N ow Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.

2 A nd David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.

Y entendiendo David que el SEÑOR lo había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que había ensalzado su reino sobre su pueblo Israel,

3 A nd David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.

tomó aun David mujeres en Jerusalén, y engendró David aun hijos e hijas.

4 N ow these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

Y éstos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

5 a nd Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

Ibhar, Elisúa, Elpelet,

6 a nd Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

Noga, Nefeg, Jafía,

7 a nd Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

Elisama, Beeliada y Elifelet.

8 A nd when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.

¶ Y oyendo los filisteos que David había sido ungido por rey sobre todo Israel, subieron todos los filisteos en busca de David. Y cuando David lo oyó, salió contra ellos.

9 A nd the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

Y vinieron los filisteos y se extendieron por el valle de Refaim.

10 A nd David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.

Y David consultó a Dios, diciendo: ¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y el SEÑOR le dijo: Sube, que yo los entregaré en tus manos.

11 S o they came up to Baal-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

Entonces subieron a Baal-perazim, y allí los hirió David. Dijo luego David: Dios ha partido mis enemigos por mi mano, como se parten las aguas. Por esto llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

12 A nd when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.

Y dejaron allí sus dioses, y David dijo que los quemaran al fuego.

13 A nd the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.

Y volviendo los filisteos a extenderse por el valle,

14 T herefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

David volvió a consultar a Dios, y Dios le dijo: No subas tras ellos, sino rodéalos, para venir a ellos por delante de los morales;

15 A nd it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

y cuando oyeres venir un estruendo por las copas de los morales, sal luego a la batalla; porque Dios saldrá delante de ti, y herirá el campamento de los filisteos.

16 D avid therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.

Hizo, pues, David como Dios le mandó, e hirieron al ejército de los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gezer.

17 A nd the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.

Y el nombre de David fue divulgado por todas aquellas tierras; y puso el SEÑOR el temor de David sobre todos los gentiles.
