1 A nd when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

Y Atalía madre de Ocozías, viendo que su hijo había muerto, se levantó, y destruyó toda la simiente real.

2 B ut Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

Pero tomando Josaba hija del rey Joram, hermana de Ocozías, a Joás hijo de Ocozías, lo hurtó de entre los hijos del rey, que se mataban, y lo ocultó de delante de Atalía, a él y a su ama, en la cámara de las camas, y así no lo mataron.

3 A nd he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

Y estuvo con ella escondido en la Casa del SEÑOR seis años; y Atalía fue reina sobre la tierra.

4 A nd the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the king’s son.

Mas al séptimo año envió Joiada, y tomó centuriones, capitanes, y gente de la guardia, y los metió consigo en la Casa del SEÑOR; e hizo pacto con ellos, juramentándolos en la Casa del SEÑOR; y les mostró al hijo del rey.

5 A nd he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

Y les mandó, diciendo: Esto es lo que habéis de hacer: la tercera parte de vosotros, los que entrarán el sábado, tendrán la guardia de la casa del rey;

6 a nd a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

y la otra tercera parte estará a la puerta del Shur, y la otra tercera parte a la puerta del postigo de los de la guardia; y tendréis la guardia de la casa de Mesah.

7 A nd two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.

Y las otras dos partes de vosotros, es a saber, todos los que salen el sábado, tendréis la guardia de la Casa del SEÑOR junto al rey.

8 A nd ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.

Y estaréis alrededor del rey de todas partes, teniendo cada uno sus armas en las manos; y cualquiera que entrare dentro de estos órdenes, sea muerto. Y habéis de estar con el rey cuando saliere, y cuando entrare.

9 A nd the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

Y los centuriones hicieron todo como el sacerdote Joiada les mandó, tomando cada uno los suyos, es a saber, los que habían de entrar el sábado, y los que habían salido el sábado vinieron a Joiada el sacerdote.

10 A nd to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the Lord.

Y el sacerdote dio a los centuriones las lanzas y los escudos que habían sido del rey David, que estaban en la Casa del SEÑOR.

11 A nd the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

Y los de la guardia se pusieron de pie, teniendo cada uno sus armas en sus manos, desde el lado derecho de la Casa hasta el lado izquierdo, junto al altar y el templo, cerca del rey alrededor.

12 A nd he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

Sacando luego Joiada al hijo del rey, le puso la corona y el testimonio, y le hicieron rey ungiéndole; y batiendo las manos dijeron: ¡Viva el rey!

13 A nd when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the Lord.

Y oyendo Atalía el estruendo del pueblo que corría, entró al pueblo en el templo del SEÑOR;

14 A nd when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

y cuando miró, he aquí el rey que estaba junto a la columna, conforme a su derecho, y los príncipes y los trompeteros junto al rey; y que todo el pueblo de la tierra hacía alegrías, y que tocaban las trompetas. Entonces Atalía, rasgando sus vestidos, dio voces: ¡Conjuración, conjuración!

15 B ut Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the Lord.

Entonces el sacerdote Joiada mandó a los centuriones que gobernaban el ejército, y les dijo: Sacadla fuera de la orden de la Casa, y al que la siguiere, matadlo a espada. (Porque el sacerdote dijo que no la mataran en la Casa del SEÑOR).

16 A nd they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.

Y le echaron mano, y vino por el camino por donde entran los de a caballo a la casa del rey, y allí la mataron.

17 A nd Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.

¶ Entonces Joiada hizo pacto entre el SEÑOR y el rey, y el pueblo, que serían pueblo del SEÑOR; y asimismo entre el rey y el pueblo.

18 A nd all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

Y todo el pueblo de la tierra entró en el templo de Baal, y lo derribaron; y quebraron en menudas piezas sus altares y sus imágenes, y asimismo mataron a Matán sacerdote de Baal delante de los altares. Y el sacerdote puso guarnición sobre la Casa del SEÑOR.

19 A nd he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

Después tomó los centuriones, y capitanes y los de la guardia, y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, y llevaron al rey desde la Casa del SEÑOR, y vinieron por el camino de la puerta de los de la guardia a la casa del rey; y se sentó sobre el trono de los reyes.

20 A nd all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.

Y todo el pueblo de la tierra hizo alegrías, y la ciudad estuvo en reposo, habiendo sido Atalía muerta a espada junto a la casa del rey.

21 S even years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.

Era Joás de siete años cuando comenzó a reinar.
