1 A nd after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

Când a încetat zarva, Pavel i-a chemat pe ucenici şi, după ce i-a încurajat, şi-a luat rămas bun şi a plecat în Macedonia.

2 A nd when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

A călătorit prin părţile acelea şi i-a încurajat pe credincioşi prin multe cuvinte. Apoi a venit în Grecia,

3 a nd there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

unde a stat timp de trei luni. Chiar când urma să plece pe mare în Siria, iudeii au pus la cale un complot împotriva lui, aşa că el s-a hotărât să se întoarcă prin Macedonia.

4 A nd there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

Îl însoţeau Sopater – fiul lui Pirus din Berea –, Aristarhus şi Secundus din Tesalonic, Gaius din Derbe precum şi Timotei, Tihicus şi Trofimus din Asia.

5 T hese going before tarried for us at Troas.

Aceştia au luat-o înainte şi ne-au aşteptat în Troa.

6 A nd we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

Iar noi, după zilele Sărbătorii Azimelor, am plecat pe mare din Filipi şi, în cinci zile, am ajuns la ei în Troa, unde am rămas timp de şapte zile. Învierea lui Eutih

7 A nd upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

În prima zi a săptămânii, când ne adunaserăm să frângem pâinea, Pavel, care urma să plece în ziua următoare, stătea de vorbă cu ucenicii şi şi-a prelungit vorbirea până la miezul nopţii.

8 A nd there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

În camera de sus, unde eram adunaţi, erau multe lămpi.

9 A nd there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

Pe un tânăr numit Eutih, care stătea la fereastră, l-a apucat un somn adânc în timpul lungii vorbiri a lui Pavel; biruit de somn, a căzut de la etajul al treilea şi a fost ridicat mort.

10 A nd Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

Pavel a coborât, s-a aplecat asupra lui şi l-a luat în braţe, spunând: „Nu vă tulburaţi, căci sufletul lui este în el!“

11 W hen he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

Apoi a urcat scările, a frânt pâinea, a mâncat şi a mai vorbit cu ei mult timp, până în zori, după care a plecat.

12 A nd they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

Tânărul a fost adus viu, şi ei au fost nespus de încurajaţi. Pavel îşi ia rămas bun de la bătrânii din Efes

13 A nd we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

Noi ne-am dus înainte la corabie şi am mers pe mare la Assos, de unde urma să-l luăm şi pe Pavel. Căci aşa fusese învoiala, el urmând să meargă până acolo pe uscat.

14 A nd when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

Când s-a întâlnit cu noi în Assos, l-am luat în corabie şi ne-am dus în Mitilene.

15 A nd we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

De acolo am plecat mai departe pe mare, iar a doua zi am ajuns vizavi de Chios. O zi mai târziu am sosit în Samos, (apoi ne-am oprit în Troghilion,) iar în ziua următoare am ajuns în Milet.

16 F or Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

Căci Pavel hotărâse să treacă pe lângă Efes, ca să nu mai piardă timpul în Asia, pentru că se grăbea să fie în Ierusalim de Ziua Cincizecimii, dacă-i va fi posibil.

17 A nd from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

Din Milet el a trimis la Efes şi i-a chemat pe bătrânii bisericii.

18 A nd when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

Când aceştia au venit la el, le-a spus următoarele: „Ştiţi că, încă din prima zi în care am pus piciorul în Asia, am fost cu voi tot timpul,

19 s erving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

slujindu-I Domnului cu toată smerenia şi cu lacrimi în mijlocul încercărilor care au venit asupra mea din cauza comploturilor iudeilor.

20 a nd how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

N-am ascuns nimic din ceea ce vă era de folos, predicându-vă şi învăţându-vă în public şi prin case,

21 t estifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

şi mărturisind atât iudeilor, cât şi grecilor despre pocăinţa faţă de Dumnezeu şi credinţa în Domnul nostru Isus.

22 A nd now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

Şi acum, iată că, împins de Duhul, mă duc în Ierusalim, fără să ştiu ce mi se va întâmpla acolo;

23 s ave that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

doar Duhul Sfânt mă avertizează în fiecare cetate că mă aşteaptă lanţuri şi necazuri.

24 B ut none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Însă îmi privesc viaţa ca nefiind de nici un preţ pentru mine, ca să-mi pot sfârşi alergarea şi slujba pe care am primit-o de la Domnul Isus, şi anume să depun mărturie despre Evanghelia harului lui Dumnezeu.

25 A nd now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

Şi acum, iată, ştiu că nu-mi veţi mai vedea faţa, voi toţi aceia printre care am umblat predicând Împărăţia.

26 W herefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

De aceea, vă mărturisesc astăzi că sunt curat de sângele tuturor.

27 F or I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

Căci nu m-am dat înapoi de la a vă spune tot planul lui Dumnezeu!

28 T ake heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Luaţi seama deci la voi înşivă şi la toată turma peste care Duhul Sfânt v-a pus supraveghetori ca să păstoriţi Biserica lui Dumnezeu, pe care El a câştigat-o prin sângele propriului Său Fiu!

29 F or I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Ştiu că după plecarea mea vor veni între voi lupi feroce, care nu cruţă turma;

30 A lso of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

şi chiar dintre voi se vor ridica bărbaţi care vor spune lucruri pervertite, ca să-i tragă pe ucenici după ei.

31 T herefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

De aceea, vegheaţi, amintindu-vă că timp de trei ani, zi şi noapte, n-am încetat să vă povăţuiesc pe fiecare cu lacrimi!

32 A nd now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

Iar acum vă încredinţez lui Dumnezeu şi Cuvântului harului Său, Cuvânt care are putere să vă zidească şi să vă dea moştenirea alături de toţi cei sfinţiţi!

33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.

N-am dorit nici argintul, nici aurul şi nici haina nimănui.

34 Y ea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

Voi înşivă ştiţi că mâinile acestea au slujit pentru nevoile mele şi ale celor ce erau împreună cu mine.

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

În toate v-am arătat că trebuie să ne trudim să-i ajutăm pe cei slabi, amintindu-vă de cuvintele Domnului Isus, Care, El Însuşi, a zis: «Este mai ferice să dai decât să primeşti!»“

36 A nd when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

După ce a spus acestea, s-a plecat pe genunchi împreună cu ei toţi şi s-a rugat.

37 A nd they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,

Toţi au început să plângă în hohote, au căzut la pieptul lui Pavel şi l-au sărutat mult.

38 s orrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

Căci erau îndureraţi mai ales din pricina cuvintelor pe care le spusese el, şi anume că nu-i vor mai vedea faţa. Apoi l-au însoţit până la corabie.
