1 T his then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.

La parte que tocó en suerte a la tribu de los hijos de Judá, conforme a sus familias, llegaba hasta la frontera de Edom, y tenía el desierto de Zin, al sur, como su extremo meridional.

2 A nd their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:

Su límite por el lado del sur partía de la costa del Mar Salado —desde la bahía que mira hacia el sur—;

3 A nd it went out to the south side to Maalehacrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadeshbarnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:

luego salía hacia el sur de la subida de Acrabim, pasaba hacia Zin y subía por el sur hasta Cades-barnea; pasando por Hezrón, subía hacia Adar y daba vuelta a Carca.

4 F rom thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.

De allí pasaba por Asmón, salía al arroyo de Egipto y terminaba en el mar. Éste, pues, os será el límite del sur.

5 A nd the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:

El límite oriental es el Mar Salado hasta la desembocadura del Jordán. El límite por el lado del norte, partía de la bahía del mar, en la desembocadura del Jordán.

6 A nd the border went up to Bethhogla, and passed along by the north of Betharabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:

Este límite sube por Bet-hogla, pasa al norte de Bet-arabá, y de aquí sube a la piedra de Bohán hijo de Rubén.

7 A nd the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Enshemesh, and the goings out thereof were at Enrogel:

Luego sube a Debir desde el valle de Acor, y al norte mira sobre Gilgal, que está enfrente de la subida de Adumín, al sur del arroyo; pasa por las aguas de En-semes y sale a la fuente Rogel.

8 A nd the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

Sube este límite por el valle del hijo de Hinom, al lado sur del jebuseo, que es Jerusalén. Luego sube por la cumbre del monte que está enfrente del valle de Hinom, hacia el occidente, el cual está al extremo del valle de Refaim, por el lado del norte.

9 A nd the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:

Este límite tuerce desde la cumbre del monte hasta la fuente de las aguas de Neftoa, y sale a las ciudades del monte Efrón para volverse luego hacia Baala, que es Quiriat-jearim.

10 A nd the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Bethshemesh, and passed on to Timnah:

Después gira este límite desde Baala hacia el occidente a los montes de Seir y, pasando por el lado norte del monte Jearim, el cual es Quesalón, desciende a Bet-semes y pasa a Timna.

11 A nd the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

Sale luego del lado norte de Ecrón y vuelve hacia Sicrón, pasa por el monte Baala, sale a Jabneel y termina en el mar.

12 A nd the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

El límite del occidente es el Mar Grande. Éste era el límite del territorio de los hijos de Judá, conforme a sus familias. Caleb conquista Hebrón y Debir

13 A nd unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

A Caleb hijo de Jefone se le dio su parte entre los hijos de Judá, conforme al mandamiento de Jehová a Josué: Quiriat-arba, la ciudad del padre de Anac, que es Hebrón.

14 A nd Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

Caleb echó de allí a los tres hijos de Anac: a Sesai, Ahimán y Talmai, descendientes de Anac.

15 A nd he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher.

De aquí subió contra los que habitaban en Debir, que antes se llamaba Quiriat-sefer.

16 A nd Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

Entonces dijo Caleb: «Al que ataque Quiriat-sefer y la tome, yo le daré a mi hija Acsa por mujer.»

17 A nd Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

Otoniel hijo de Cenaz y hermano de Caleb, la tomó, y él le dio a su hija Acsa por mujer.

18 A nd it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

Y aconteció que cuando se la llevaba, éste la persuadió que pidiera a su padre tierras para labrar. Ella se bajó del asno, y Caleb le preguntó: —¿Qué tienes?

19 W ho answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

—Concédeme un don —respondió ella—; puesto que me has dado tierra del Neguev, dame también fuentes de aguas. Él entonces le dio las fuentes de arriba y las de abajo. Las ciudades de Judá

61 I n the wilderness, Betharabah, Middin, and Secacah,

62 A nd Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and Engedi; six cities with their villages.

Nibsán, la Ciudad de la Sal y En-gadi: seis ciudades con sus aldeas.

63 A s for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.

Pero los hijos de Judá no pudieron expulsar a los jebuseos que habitaban en Jerusalén. Por eso ha quedado el jebuseo en Jerusalén junto con los hijos de Judá hasta hoy.
