1 T hus saith the Lord unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.

Así me dijo Jehová: «Ve y cómprate un cinto de lino. Cíñelo a tu cintura, pero no lo metas en agua.»

2 S o I got a girdle according to the word of the Lord, and put it on my loins.

Compré el cinto, conforme a la palabra de Jehová, y lo ceñí a mi cintura.

3 A nd the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying,

Vino a mí por segunda vez palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

4 T ake the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

«Toma el cinto que compraste, el cual ciñe tu cintura, levántate, ve al Éufrates y escóndelo allí, en la hendidura de una peña.»

5 S o I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me.

Fui, pues, al Éufrates y lo escondí, como Jehová me había mandado.

6 A nd it came to pass after many days, that the Lord said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.

Después de muchos días me dijo Jehová: «Levántate, ve al Éufrates y toma el cinto que te mandé esconder allí.»

7 T hen I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

Entonces fui al Éufrates, cavé y tomé el cinto del lugar donde lo había escondido, pero el cinto se había podrido y ya no servía para nada.

8 T hen the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Y vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

9 T hus saith the Lord, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

«Así ha dicho Jehová: Así haré podrir la soberbia de Judá y la mucha soberbia de Jerusalén.

10 T his evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

Este pueblo malo, que no quiere escuchar mis palabras, que anda en las imaginaciones de su corazón y que va en pos de dioses ajenos para servirlos y para postrarse ante ellos, vendrá a ser como este cinto, que ya no sirve para nada.

11 F or as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the Lord; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

Porque como el cinto se ajusta a la cintura del hombre, así hice que se ajustara a mí toda la casa de Israel y toda la casa de Judá, dice Jehová, para que fueran mi pueblo, y para renombre, para alabanza y para honra; pero no escucharon. La señal de las tinajas llenas

12 T herefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

»Les dirás, pues, esta palabra: “Así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel: Toda tinaja se llenará de vino.” Y ellos te dirán: “¿No sabemos que toda tinaja se llenará de vino?”

13 T hen shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

Entonces les dirás: Así ha dicho Jehová: “Yo lleno de embriaguez a todos los habitantes de esta tierra, a los reyes de la estirpe de David que se sientan sobre su trono, a los sacerdotes y profetas y a todos los habitantes de Jerusalén.

14 A nd I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the Lord: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

Y los quebrantaré, a los unos contra los otros, juntamente a los padres y a los hijos, dice Jehová. No perdonaré, ni tendré piedad ni misericordia, sino que los destruiré.”» Judá será llevada en cautiverio

15 H ear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken.

Oíd y prestad atención: no os envanezcáis, pues Jehová ha hablado.

16 G ive glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

Dad gloria a Jehová, vuestro Dios, antes que haga venir tinieblas, antes que vuestros pies tropiecen en montes de oscuridad, y que, esperando vosotros la luz, él os la vuelva en sombra de muerte y tinieblas.

17 B ut if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord 's flock is carried away captive.

Mas si no escucháis esto, en secreto llorará mi alma a causa de vuestra soberbia; y llorando amargamente, se desharán mis ojos en lágrimas, porque el rebaño de Jehová fue hecho cautivo.

18 S ay unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.

«Di al rey y a la reina: “Humillaos, sentaos en tierra, porque la corona de vuestra gloria ha caído de vuestras cabezas.”

19 T he cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.

Las ciudades del Neguev fueron cerradas y no hubo quien las abriera; toda Judá fue deportada, llevada en cautiverio fue toda ella.

20 L ift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

Alzad vuestros ojos y ved a los que vienen del norte. ¿Dónde está el rebaño que te fue dado, tu hermosa grey?

21 W hat wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

»¿Qué dirás cuando él ponga como cabeza sobre ti a aquellos a quienes tú enseñaste a ser tus amigos? ¿No te darán dolores como los de una mujer que está de parto?

22 A nd if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.

Quizá digas en tu corazón: “¿Por qué me ha sobrevenido esto?” ¡Por la enormidad de tu maldad fueron alzadas tus faldas, fueron desnudados tus calcañares!

23 C an the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

¿Podrá cambiar el etíope su piel y el leopardo sus manchas? Así también, ¿podréis vosotros hacer el bien, estando habituados a hacer lo malo?

24 T herefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.

Por tanto, yo los esparciré al viento del desierto, como tamo que pasa.

25 T his is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the Lord; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

Ésta es tu suerte, la porción que yo he medido para ti, dice Jehová, porque te olvidaste de mí y confiaste en la mentira.

26 T herefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.

Yo, pues, te alzaré también las faldas hasta el rostro, y se verá tu vergüenza:

27 I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

tus adulterios, tus relinchos, la maldad de tu fornicación sobre los collados. En el campo he visto tus abominaciones. ¡Ay de ti, Jerusalén! ¿No serás al fin limpia? ¿Cuánto tardarás en purificarte?»
