1 A nd it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

Aconteció, pasados dos años, que el faraón tuvo un sueño. Le parecía que estaba junto al río,

2 A nd, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.

y que del río subían siete vacas hermosas a la vista, muy gordas, y que pacían en el prado.

3 A nd, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.

Tras ellas subían del río otras siete vacas de feo aspecto y enjutas de carne, que se pararon cerca de las vacas hermosas a la orilla del río;

4 A nd the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.

y las vacas de feo aspecto y enjutas de carne devoraban a las siete vacas hermosas y muy gordas. El faraón se despertó,

5 A nd he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.

pero se durmió de nuevo, y soñó la segunda vez: Siete espigas llenas y hermosas crecían de una sola caña,

6 A nd, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.

y después de ellas salían otras siete espigas menudas y quemadas por el viento del este;

7 A nd the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

y las siete espigas menudas devoraban a las siete espigas gruesas y llenas. El faraón se despertó y vio que era un sueño.

8 A nd it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

Sucedió que por la mañana estaba agitado su espíritu, y envió llamar a todos los magos de Egipto y a todos sus sabios. Les contó sus sueños, pero no había quien se los pudiera interpretar al faraón.

9 T hen spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:

Entonces el jefe de los coperos dijo al faraón: —Me acuerdo hoy de mis faltas.

10 P haraoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:

Cuando el faraón se enojó contra sus siervos, nos echó a la prisión de la casa del capitán de la guardia a mí y al jefe de los panaderos.

11 A nd we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

Él y yo tuvimos un sueño en la misma noche, y cada sueño tenía su propio significado.

12 A nd there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.

Estaba allí con nosotros un joven hebreo, siervo del capitán de la guardia. Se lo contamos, y él nos interpretó nuestros sueños y declaró a cada uno conforme a su sueño.

13 A nd it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.

Y aconteció que como él nos los interpretó, así ocurrió: yo fui restablecido en mi puesto y el otro fue colgado.

14 T hen Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

Entonces el faraón envió a llamar a José; lo sacaron apresuradamente de la cárcel, se afeitó, mudó sus vestidos y vino ante el faraón.

15 A nd Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.

El faraón dijo a José: —Yo he tenido un sueño, y no hay quien lo interprete; pero he oído decir de ti que oyes sueños para interpretarlos.

16 A nd Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

Respondió José al faraón: —No está en mí; Dios será el que dé respuesta propicia al faraón.

17 A nd Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:

Entonces el faraón dijo a José: —En mi sueño me parecía que estaba a la orilla del río,

18 A nd, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:

y que del río subían siete vacas de gruesas carnes y hermosa apariencia, que pacían en el prado.

19 A nd, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:

Y que otras siete vacas subían después de ellas, flacas y de muy feo aspecto; tan extenuadas, que no he visto otras semejantes en fealdad en toda la tierra de Egipto.

20 A nd the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:

Las vacas flacas y feas devoraban a las siete primeras vacas gordas;

21 A nd when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.

pero, aunque las tenían en sus entrañas, no se conocía que hubieran entrado, pues la apariencia de las flacas seguía tan mala como al principio. Entonces me desperté.

22 A nd I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:

»Luego, de nuevo en sueños, vi que siete espigas crecían en una misma caña, llenas y hermosas.

23 A nd, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:

Y que otras siete espigas, menudas, marchitas y quemadas por el viento solano, crecían después de ellas;

24 A nd the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.

y las espigas menudas devoraban a las siete espigas hermosas. Esto lo he contado a los magos, pero no hay quien me lo interprete.

25 A nd Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

Entonces respondió José al faraón: —El sueño del faraón es uno y el mismo. Dios ha mostrado al faraón lo que va a hacer.

26 T he seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.

Las siete vacas hermosas siete años son, y las espigas hermosas son siete años: el sueño es uno y el mismo.

27 A nd the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

También las siete vacas flacas y feas que subían tras ellas son siete años, y las siete espigas menudas y quemadas por el viento solano siete años serán de hambre.

28 T his is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

Esto es lo que respondo al faraón. Lo que Dios va a hacer, lo ha mostrado al faraón.

29 B ehold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:

Vienen siete años de gran abundancia en toda la tierra de Egipto.

30 A nd there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

Tras ellos seguirán siete años de hambre: toda la abundancia será olvidada en la tierra de Egipto, y el hambre consumirá la tierra.

31 A nd the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

Y aquella abundancia no se echará de ver, a causa del hambre que la seguirá, la cual será gravísima.

32 A nd for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

Y que el faraón haya tenido el sueño dos veces significa que la cosa es firme de parte de Dios, y que Dios se apresura a hacerla.

33 N ow therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.

»Por tanto, es necesario que el faraón se provea de un hombre prudente y sabio, y que lo ponga sobre la tierra de Egipto.

34 L et Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.

Haga esto el faraón: ponga gobernadores sobre el país, que recojan la quinta parte de las cosechas de Egipto en los siete años de la abundancia.

35 A nd let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.

Junten toda la provisión de estos buenos años que vienen, recojan el trigo bajo la mano del faraón para mantenimiento de las ciudades y guárdenlo.

36 A nd that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

Y esté aquella provisión en depósito para el país, para los siete años de hambre que habrá en la tierra de Egipto; y el país no perecerá de hambre. José, gobernador de Egipto

37 A nd the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

El asunto pareció bien al faraón y a sus siervos,

38 A nd Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

y dijo el faraón a sus siervos: —¿Acaso hallaremos a otro hombre como éste, en quien esté el espíritu de Dios?

39 A nd Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

Y dijo el faraón a José: —Después de haberte dado a conocer Dios todo esto, no hay entendido ni sabio como tú.

40 T hou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

Tú estarás sobre mi casa y por tu palabra se gobernará todo mi pueblo; solamente en el trono seré yo mayor que tú.

41 A nd Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

Dijo además el faraón a José: —Yo te he puesto sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

42 A nd Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

Entonces el faraón se quitó el anillo de su mano y lo puso en la mano de José; lo hizo vestir de ropas de lino finísimo y puso un collar de oro en su cuello.

43 A nd he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

Lo hizo subir en su segundo carro, y pregonaban delante de él: «¡Doblad la rodilla!» Así quedó José sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

44 A nd Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

Luego dijo el faraón a José: —Yo soy el faraón; pero sin ti nadie alzará su mano ni su pie en toda la tierra de Egipto.

45 A nd Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

El faraón puso a José el nombre de Zafnat-panea, y le dio por mujer a Asenat, hija de Potifera, sacerdote de On. Así quedó José al frente de toda la tierra de Egipto.

46 A nd Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

Era José de edad de treinta años cuando fue presentado delante del faraón, el rey de Egipto; y salió José de delante del faraón y recorrió toda la tierra de Egipto.

47 A nd in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.

En aquellos siete años de abundancia la tierra produjo en gran cantidad.

48 A nd he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.

Y él recogió todo el alimento de los siete años de abundancia que hubo en la tierra de Egipto, y almacenó alimento en las ciudades, poniendo en cada ciudad el alimento de los campos de alrededor.

49 A nd Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.

Recogió José trigo como si fuera arena del mar; tanto que no se podía contar, porque era incalculable.

50 A nd unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

Antes que llegara el primer año de hambre, le nacieron a José dos hijos, los cuales le dio a luz Asenat, hija de Potifera, sacerdote de On.

51 A nd Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.

Llamó José al primogénito Manasés, porque dijo: «Dios me hizo olvidar todos mis sufrimientos, y a toda la casa de mi padre.»

52 A nd the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

Al segundo lo llamó Efraín, porque dijo: «Dios me hizo fructificar en la tierra de mi aflicción.»

53 A nd the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.

Se cumplieron así los siete años de abundancia que hubo en la tierra de Egipto,

54 A nd the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

y comenzaron a llegar los siete años de hambre, como José había predicho. Hubo hambre en todos los países, pero en toda la tierra de Egipto había pan.

55 A nd when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

Cuando se sintió el hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto, el pueblo clamó por pan al faraón. Y dijo el faraón a todos los egipcios: «Id a José, y haced lo que él os diga.»

56 A nd the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.

Cuando el hambre se extendió por todo el país, abrió José todos los graneros donde estaba el trigo, y lo vendía a los egipcios, porque había crecido el hambre en la tierra de Egipto.

57 A nd all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

Y de todos los países venían a Egipto para comprar grano a José, porque por toda la tierra había crecido el hambre.
