1 R ejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

No te alegres, Israel, no saltes de gozo como otros pueblos, pues has fornicado al apartarte de tu Dios. Amaste el salario de rameras en todas las eras de trigo.

2 T he floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.

La era y el lagar no los sustentarán, y les fallará el mosto.

3 T hey shall not dwell in the Lord 's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.

No se quedarán en la tierra de Jehová, sino que Efraín volverá a Egipto y a Asiria, donde comerán vianda inmunda.

4 T hey shall not offer wine offerings to the Lord, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the Lord.

No harán libaciones a Jehová ni sus sacrificios le serán gratos; cual pan de duelo será para ellos, y todos los que coman de él serán impuros. Su pan será, pues, para ellos mismos: ese pan no entrará en la casa de Jehová.

5 W hat will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the Lord ?

¿Qué haréis en el día de la solemnidad, y en el día de la fiesta de Jehová?

6 F or, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

Ellos se fueron a causa de la destrucción. Egipto los recogerá, Menfis los enterrará. La ortiga conquistará lo deseable de su plata, y el espino crecerá en sus moradas.

7 T he days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

Vinieron los días del castigo, vinieron los días de la retribución. ¡Israel lo sabrá! Necio es el profeta, insensato es el hombre de espíritu, a causa de la enormidad de tu maldad y de la inmensidad de tu odio.

8 T he watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

El profeta, atalaya de Efraín, está junto a mi Dios; lazos de cazador se le tienden en todos sus caminos, se le odia aun en la casa de su Dios.

9 T hey have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

Llegaron hasta lo más bajo en su corrupción, como en los días de Gabaa. Él se acordará de su iniquidad y castigará su pecado.

10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

«Como uvas en el desierto hallé a Israel; vi a vuestros padres en sus primicias como la fruta temprana de la higuera. Pero al acudir ellos a Baal-peor, se apartaron para vergüenza, y se hicieron abominables como aquello que amaban.

11 A s for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

La gloria de Efraín volará cual ave, de modo que no habrá nacimientos ni embarazos ni concepciones.

12 T hough they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

Aunque lleguen a crecer sus hijos, los quitaré de entre los hombres. ¡Ay de ellos también, cuando de ellos me aparte!

13 E phraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.

Efraín, según veo, es semejante a Tiro, situado en un lugar delicioso; pero Efraín llevará sus hijos a la matanza.»

14 G ive them, O Lord: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

Dales, Jehová, lo que les has de dar; dales matriz que aborte y pechos enjutos.

15 A ll their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

«Toda la maldad de ellos se manifestó en Gilgal; allí, pues, les tomé aversión. Por la perversidad de sus obras los echaré de mi Casa. Ya no los amaré más; todos sus príncipes son desleales.

16 E phraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

Efraín fue herido, su raíz está seca, no dará más fruto. Aunque engendren, yo haré morir el precioso fruto de su vientre.»

17 M y God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

Mi Dios los desechará porque ellos no lo oyeron, y andarán errantes entre las naciones.
