1 A nd Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.

Subió, pues, Abram de Egipto hacia el Neguev, con su mujer y con todo lo que tenía, y con él iba Lot.

2 A nd Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

Abram era riquísimo en ganado, y en plata y oro.

3 A nd he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;

Caminó de jornada en jornada desde el Neguev hasta Bet-el, hasta el lugar donde había estado antes su tienda, entre Bet-el y Hai,

4 U nto the place of the altar, which he had make there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.

al lugar del altar que antes había edificado; e invocó allí Abram el nombre de Jehová.

5 A nd Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

También Lot, que iba con Abram, tenía ovejas, vacas y tiendas.

6 A nd the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

Y la tierra no era suficiente para que habitaran juntos, pues sus posesiones eran muchas y no podían habitar en un mismo lugar.

7 A nd there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.

Hubo contienda entre los pastores del ganado de Abram y los pastores del ganado de Lot. (El cananeo y el ferezeo habitaban entonces en la tierra.)

8 A nd Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.

Entonces Abram dijo a Lot: «No haya ahora altercado entre nosotros dos ni entre mis pastores y los tuyos, porque somos hermanos.

9 I s not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

¿No está toda la tierra delante de ti? Yo te ruego que te apartes de mí. Si vas a la mano izquierda, yo iré a la derecha; y si a la mano derecha, yo iré a la izquierda.»

10 A nd Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

Alzó Lot sus ojos y vio toda la llanura del Jordán, toda ella era de riego, como el huerto de Jehová, como la tierra de Egipto en la dirección de Zoar, antes que Jehová destruyera Sodoma y Gomorra.

11 T hen Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

Entonces Lot escogió para sí toda la llanura del Jordán; se fue, pues, Lot hacia el oriente, y se apartaron el uno del otro.

12 A bram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

Abram acampó en la tierra de Canaán, en tanto que Lot habitó en las ciudades de la llanura y fue poniendo sus tiendas hasta Sodoma.

13 B ut the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

Pero los habitantes de Sodoma eran malos y cometían horribles pecados contra Jehová.

14 A nd the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

Jehová dijo a Abram, después que Lot se apartó de él: «Alza ahora tus ojos y, desde el lugar donde estás, mira al norte y al sur, al oriente y al occidente.

15 F or all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

Toda la tierra que ves te la daré a ti y a tu descendencia para siempre.

16 A nd I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

Haré tu descendencia como el polvo de la tierra: que si alguno puede contar el polvo de la tierra, también tu descendencia será contada.

17 A rise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

Levántate y recorre la tierra a lo largo y a lo ancho, porque a ti te la daré.»

18 T hen Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.

Así pues, Abram levantó su tienda, se fue y habitó en el encinar de Mamre, que está en Hebrón, donde edificó un altar a Jehová.
