1 A nd it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,

Cuando Salomón acabó la obra de la casa de Jehová, la casa real y todo lo que quiso hacer,

2 T hat the Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

Jehová se le apareció a Salomón por segunda vez, como se le había aparecido en Gabaón,

3 A nd the Lord said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

y le dijo: «He oído tu oración y el ruego que has hecho en mi presencia. He santificado esta casa que tú has edificado, para poner mi nombre en ella para siempre; en ella estarán mis ojos y mi corazón todos los días.

4 A nd if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:

Y si tú andas delante de mí como anduvo David, tu padre, en integridad de corazón y en equidad, haciendo todas las cosas que yo te he mandado y guardando mis estatutos y mis decretos,

5 T hen I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

yo afirmaré el trono de tu reino sobre Israel para siempre, como le prometí a tu padre David, cuando dije: “Nunca faltará un descendiente tuyo en el trono de Israel.”

6 B ut if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

Pero si obstinadamente os apartáis de mí vosotros y vuestros hijos y no guardáis los mandamientos y estatutos que yo he puesto delante de vosotros, sino que vais y servís a dioses ajenos, y los adoráis,

7 T hen will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

yo eliminaré a Israel de sobre la faz de la tierra que les he entregado. Y esta casa que he santificado a mi nombre, la echaré de delante de mí, e Israel será motivo de burla y escarnio entre todos los pueblos.

8 A nd at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and to this house?

Cualquiera que pase por esta casa, antes sublime, se asombrará y se burlará. Y se preguntará: “¿Por qué ha hecho así Jehová a esta tierra y a esta casa?”

9 A nd they shall answer, Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil.

Y le dirán: “Por cuanto abandonaron a Jehová, su Dios, que había sacado a sus padres de la tierra de Egipto, y echaron mano a dioses ajenos, los adoraron y los sirvieron; por eso ha traído Jehová sobre ellos todo este mal.”» Actividades diversas de Salomón

10 A nd it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the king's house,

Aconteció al cabo de veinte años, cuando Salomón ya había edificado las dos casas, la casa de Jehová y la casa real,

11 ( Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

para las cuales Hiram, rey de Tiro, le había traído madera de cedro y de ciprés y cuanto oro quiso, que el rey Salomón dio a Hiram veinte ciudades en tierra de Galilea.

12 A nd Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.

Hiram salió de Tiro para ver las ciudades que Salomón le había dado, y no le gustaron.

13 A nd he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.

Entonces dijo: «¿Qué ciudades son éstas que me has dado, hermano?» Y las llamó «Tierra de Cabul», nombre que tiene hasta hoy.

14 A nd Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.

Hiram había enviado al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro.

15 A nd this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

Ésta es la razón de la leva que el rey Salomón impuso para edificar la casa de Jehová y su propia casa, Milo y el muro de Jerusalén, Hazor, Meguido y Gezer:

16 F or Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Solomon's wife.

El faraón, rey de Egipto, había subido y tomado a Gezer; después la quemó, dio muerte a los cananeos que habitaban en la ciudad y la dio en dote a su hija, la mujer de Salomón.

17 A nd Solomon built Gezer, and Bethhoron the nether,

Restauró, pues, Salomón a Gezer y a Bet-horón de abajo,

18 A nd Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

a Baalat y a Tadmor en tierra del desierto;

19 A nd all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

asimismo todas las ciudades donde Salomón tenía provisiones, las ciudades de los carros, las ciudades de la gente de a caballo y todo lo que Salomón quiso edificar en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y en toda la tierra de su señorío.

20 A nd all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which were not of the children of Israel,

A todos los pueblos que quedaron de los amorreos, heteos, ferezeos, heveos y jebuseos, que no eran de los hijos de Israel,

21 T heir children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.

y a sus descendientes, los que quedaron en la tierra después de ellos y que los hijos de Israel no pudieron acabar, Salomón los sometió a trabajos forzados, hasta hoy.

22 B ut of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they were men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots, and his horsemen.

Pero a ninguno de los hijos de Israel impuso Salomón servicio, sino que eran hombres de guerra, sus criados, sus príncipes, sus capitanes, los comandantes de sus carros, o su gente de a caballo.

23 T hese were the chief of the officers that were over Solomon's work, five hundred and fifty, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

Los que Salomón había hecho jefes y vigilantes sobre las obras eran quinientos cincuenta hombres, quienes dirigían a la gente que trabajaba en aquella obra.

24 B ut Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.

Cuando subió la hija del faraón de la ciudad de David a la casa que Salomón le había edificado, entonces él edificó Milo.

25 A nd three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the Lord, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the Lord. So he finished the house.

Salomón ofrecía tres veces cada año holocaustos y sacrificios de paz sobre el altar que él edificó a Jehová, y quemaba incienso sobre el que estaba delante de Jehová, después que la Casa estuvo terminada.

26 A nd king Solomon made a navy of ships in Eziongeber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom.

Hizo también el rey Salomón naves en Ezión-geber, que está junto a Elot en la ribera del Mar Rojo, en la tierra de Edom.

27 A nd Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

Hiram envió en ellas a sus siervos, marineros y diestros en el mar, con los siervos de Salomón,

28 A nd they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.

los cuales fueron a Ofir y tomaron de allí oro, cuatrocientos veinte talentos, y lo trajeron al rey Salomón.
