1 ` Give ye thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age His kindness:'

ALABAD á Jehová, porque es bueno; Porque para siempre es su misericordia.

2 L et the redeemed of Jehovah say, Whom He redeemed from the hand of an adversary.

Digan lo los redimidos de Jehová, Los que ha redimido del poder del enemigo,

3 A nd from the lands hath gathered them, From east and from west, From north, and from the sea.

Y los ha congregado de las tierras, Del oriente y del occidente, Del aquilón y de la mar.

4 T hey wandered in a wilderness, in a desert by the way, A city of habitation they have not found.

Anduvieron perdidos por el desierto, por la soledad sin camino, No hallando ciudad de población.

5 H ungry -- yea -- thirsty, Their soul in them becometh feeble,

Hambrientos y sedientos, Su alma desfallecía en ellos.

6 A nd they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distress He delivereth them,

Habiendo empero clamado á Jehová en su angustia, Librólos de sus aflicciones:

7 A nd causeth them to tread in a right way, To go unto a city of habitation.

Y dirigiólos por camino derecho, Para que viniesen á ciudad de población.

8 T hey confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.

Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres.

9 F or He hath satisfied a longing soul, And a hungry soul hath filled goodness.

Porque sació al alma menesterosa, Y llenó de bien al alma hambrienta.

10 I nhabitants of dark places and death-shade, Prisoners of affliction and of iron,

Los que moraban en tinieblas y sombra de muerte, Aprisionados en aflicción y en hierros;

11 B ecause they changed the saying of God, And the counsel of the Most High despised.

Por cuanto fueron rebeldes á las palabras de Jehová, Y aborrecieron el consejo del Altísimo.

12 A nd He humbleth with labour their heart, They have been feeble, and there is no helper.

Por lo que quebrantó él con trabajo sus corazones, Cayeron y no hubo quien los ayudase;

13 A nd they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them.

Luego que clamaron á Jehová en su angustia, Librólos de sus aflicciones.

14 H e bringeth them out from the dark place, And death-shade, And their bands He draweth away.

Sacólos de las tinieblas y de la sombra de muerte, Y rompió sus prisiones.

15 T hey confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.

Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres.

16 F or He hath broken doors of brass, And bars of iron He hath cut.

Porque quebrantó las puertas de bronce, Y desmenuzó los cerrojos de hierro.

17 F ools, by means of their transgression, And by their iniquities, afflict themselves.

Los insensatos, á causa del camino de su rebelión Y á causa de sus maldades, fueron afligidos.

18 A ll food doth their soul abominate, And they come nigh unto the gates of death,

Su alma abominó toda vianda, Y llegaron hasta las puertas de la muerte.

19 A nd cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them,

Mas clamaron á Jehová en su angustia, Y salvólos de sus aflicciones.

20 H e sendeth His word and healeth them, And delivereth from their destructions.

Envió su palabra, y curólos, Y librólos de su ruina.

21 T hey confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,

Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres:

22 A nd they sacrifice sacrifices of thanksgiving, And recount His works with singing.

Y sacrifiquen sacrificios de alabanza, Y publiquen sus obras con júbilo.

23 T hose going down the sea in ships, Doing business in many waters,

Los que descienden á la mar en navíos, Y hacen negocio en las muchas aguas,

24 T hey have seen the works of Jehovah, And His wonders in the deep.

Ellos han visto las obras de Jehová, Y sus maravillas en el profundo.

25 A nd He saith, and appointeth a tempest, And it lifteth up its billows,

El dijo, é hizo saltar el viento de la tempestad, Que levanta sus ondas.

26 T hey go up the heavens, they go down the depths, Their soul in evil is melted.

Suben á los cielos, descienden á los abismos: Sus almas se derriten con el mal.

27 T hey reel to and fro, and move as a drunkard, And all their wisdom is swallowed up.

Tiemblan, y titubean como borrachos, Y toda su ciencia es perdida.

28 A nd they cry to Jehovah in their adversity, And from their distresses He bringeth them out.

Claman empero á Jehová en su angustia, Y líbralos de sus aflicciones.

29 H e establisheth a whirlwind to a calm, And hushed are their billows.

Hace parar la tempestad en sosiego, Y se apaciguan sus ondas.

30 A nd they rejoice because they are quiet, And He leadeth them to the haven of their desire.

Alégranse luego porque se reposaron; Y él los guía al puerto que deseaban.

31 T hey confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,

Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres.

32 A nd they exalt Him in the assembly of the people, And in the seat of the elders praise Him.

Y ensálcenlo en la congregación del pueblo; Y en consistorio de ancianos lo alaben.

33 H e maketh rivers become a wilderness, And fountains of waters become dry land.

El vuelve los ríos en desierto, Y los manantiales de las aguas en secadales;

34 A fruitful land becometh a barren place, For the wickedness of its inhabitants.

La tierra fructífera en salados, Por la maldad de los que la habitan.

35 H e maketh a wilderness become a pool of water, And a dry land become fountains of waters.

Vuelve el desierto en estanques de aguas, Y la tierra seca en manantiales.

36 A nd He causeth the hungry to dwell there, And they prepare a city of habitation.

Y allí aposenta á los hambrientos, Y disponen ciudad para habitación;

37 A nd they sow fields, and plant vineyards, And they make fruits of increase.

Y siembran campos, y plantan viñas, Y rinden crecido fruto.

38 A nd He blesseth them, and they multiply exceedingly, And their cattle He doth not diminish.

Y los bendice, y se multiplican en gran manera; Y no disminuye sus bestias.

39 A nd they are diminished, and bow down, By restraint, evil, and sorrow.

Y luego son menoscabados y abatidos A causa de tiranía, de males y congojas.

40 H e is pouring contempt upon nobles, And causeth them to wander in vacancy -- no way.

El derrama menosprecio sobre los príncipes, Y les hace andar errados, vagabundos, sin camino:

41 A nd setteth on high the needy from affliction, And placeth families as a flock.

Y levanta al pobre de la miseria, Y hace multiplicar las familias como rebaños de ovejas.

42 T he upright do see and rejoice, And all perversity hath shut her mouth.

Vean los rectos, y alégrense; Y toda maldad cierre su boca.

43 W ho wise, and observeth these? They understand the kind acts of Jehovah!

¿Quién es sabio y guardará estas cosas, Y entenderá las misericordias de Jehová?
