2 B eautiful in elevation, The joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, The city of the great King.

Schön ragt empor der Berg Zion, des sich das ganze Land tröstet; an der Seite gegen Mitternacht liegt die Stadt des großen Königs.

3 G od is in her palaces; He is known as her refuge.

Gott ist in ihren Palästen bekannt, daß er der Schutz sei.

4 F or behold, the kings assembled, They passed by together.

Denn siehe, Könige waren versammelt und sind miteinander vorübergezogen.

5 T hey saw it, and so they marveled; They were troubled, they hastened away.

Sie haben sich verwundert, da sie solches sahen; sie haben sich entsetzt und sind davon gestürzt.

6 F ear took hold of them there, And pain, as of a woman in birth pangs,

Zittern ist sie daselbst angekommen, Angst wie eine Gebärerin.

7 A s when You break the ships of Tarshish With an east wind.

Du zerbrichst die Schiffe im Meer durch den Ostwind.

8 A s we have heard, So we have seen In the city of the Lord of hosts, In the city of our God: God will establish it forever. Selah

Wie wir gehört haben, so sehen wir's an der Stadt des HERRN Zebaoth, an der Stadt unsers Gottes; Gott erhält sie ewiglich. (Sela.)

9 W e have thought, O God, on Your lovingkindness, In the midst of Your temple.

Gott, wir gedenken deiner Güte in deinem Tempel.

10 A ccording to Your name, O God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.

Gott, wie dein Name, so ist auch dein Ruhm bis an der Welt Enden; deine Rechte ist voll Gerechtigkeit.

11 L et Mount Zion rejoice, Let the daughters of Judah be glad, Because of Your judgments.

Es freue sich der Berg Zion, und die Töchter Juda's seien fröhlich um deiner Gerichte willen.

12 W alk about Zion, And go all around her. Count her towers;

Machet euch um Zion und umfanget sie, zählet ihre Türme;

13 M ark well her bulwarks; Consider her palaces; That you may tell it to the generation following.

achtet mit Fleiß auf ihre Mauern, durchwandelt ihre Paläste, auf daß ihr davon verkündiget den Nachkommen,

14 F or this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.

daß dieser Gott sei unser Gott immer und ewiglich. Er führt uns wie die Jugend.
