1 I n Judah God is known; His name is great in Israel.

2 I n Salem also is His tabernacle, And His dwelling place in Zion.

Zu Salem ist sein Gezelt, und seine Wohnung zu Zion.

3 T here He broke the arrows of the bow, The shield and sword of battle. Selah

Daselbst zerbricht er die Pfeile des Bogens, Schild, Schwert und Streit. (Sela.)

4 Y ou are more glorious and excellent Than the mountains of prey.

Du bist herrlicher und mächtiger denn die Raubeberge.

5 T he stouthearted were plundered; They have sunk into their sleep; And none of the mighty men have found the use of their hands.

Die Stolzen müssen beraubt werden und entschlafen, und alle Krieger müssen die Hand lassen sinken.

6 A t Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both the chariot and horse were cast into a dead sleep.

Von deinem Schelten, Gott Jakobs, sinkt in Schlaf Roß und Wagen.

7 Y ou, Yourself, are to be feared; And who may stand in Your presence When once You are angry?

Du bist erschrecklich. Wer kann vor dir stehen, wenn du zürnest?

8 Y ou caused judgment to be heard from heaven; The earth feared and was still,

Wenn du das Urteil lässest hören vom Himmel, so erschrickt das Erdreich und wird still,

9 W hen God arose to judgment, To deliver all the oppressed of the earth. Selah

wenn Gott sich aufmacht zu richten, daß er helfe allen Elenden auf Erden. (Sela.)

10 S urely the wrath of man shall praise You; With the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.

Wenn Menschen wider dich wüten, so legst du Ehre ein; und wenn sie noch mehr wüten, bist du auch noch gerüstet.

11 M ake vows to the Lord your God, and pay them; Let all who are around Him bring presents to Him who ought to be feared.

Gelobet und haltet dem HERRN, eurem Gott; alle, die ihr um ihn her seid, bringet Geschenke dem Schrecklichen,

12 H e shall cut off the spirit of princes; He is awesome to the kings of the earth.

der den Fürsten den Mut nimmt und schrecklich ist unter den Königen auf Erden.
