1 O h Dios, con nuestros oídos hemos oído, Nuestros padres nos han contado La obra que hiciste en sus días, En los tiempos antiguos:

We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, What work thou didst in their days, In the days of old.

2 T ú con Tu mano echaste fuera las naciones, Pero a ellos los plantaste. Afligiste a los pueblos, Pero a ellos los hiciste crecer.

Thou didst drive out the nations with thy hand; But them thou didst plant: Thou didst afflict the peoples; But them thou didst spread abroad.

3 P ues no fue por su espada que tomaron posesión de la tierra, Ni fue su brazo el que los salvó, Sino Tu diestra y Tu brazo, y la luz de Tu presencia, Porque Te complaciste en ellos.

For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword, Neither did their own arm save them; But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, Because thou wast favorable unto them.

4 T ú eres mi Rey, oh Dios; Manda victorias a Jacob.

Thou art my King, O God: Command deliverance for Jacob.

5 C ontigo rechazaremos a nuestros adversarios; En Tu nombre pisotearemos a los que contra nosotros se levanten.

Through thee will we push down our adversaries: Through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

6 P orque yo no confiaré en mi arco, Ni me podrá salvar mi espada;

For I will not trust in my bow, Neither shall my sword save me.

7 P ues Tú nos has salvado de nuestros adversarios, Y has avergonzado a los que nos aborrecen.

But thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And hast put them to shame that hate us.

8 E n Dios nos hemos gloriado todo el día. Por siempre alabaremos Tu nombre. (Selah)

In God have we made our boast all the day long, And we will give thanks unto thy name for ever. Selah

9 S in embargo, Tú nos has rechazado y nos has confundido, Y no sales con nuestros ejércitos.

But now thou hast cast us off, and brought us to dishonor, And goest not forth with our hosts.

10 N os haces retroceder ante el adversario, Y los que nos aborrecen tomaron botín para sí.

Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; And they that hate us take spoil for themselves.

11 N os entregas como ovejas para ser devorados, Y nos has esparcido entre las naciones.

Thou hast made us like sheep appointed for food, And hast scattered us among the nations.

12 V endes a Tu pueblo a bajo precio, Y nada has ganado con su venta.

Thou sellest thy people for nought, And hast not increased thy wealth by their price.

13 N os haces el oprobio de nuestros vecinos, Escarnio y burla de los que nos rodean.

Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to them that are round about us.

14 N os pones por proverbio entre las naciones, Causa de risa entre los pueblos.

Thou makest us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.

15 T odo el día mi ignominia está delante de mí, Y la vergüenza de mi rostro me ha abrumado

All the day long is my dishonor before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me,

16 P or la voz del que me reprocha e insulta, Por la presencia del enemigo y del vengativo.

For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth, By reason of the enemy and the avenger.

17 T odo esto nos ha sobrevenido, pero no nos hemos olvidado de Ti, Ni hemos faltado a Tu pacto.

All this is come upon us; Yet have we not forgotten thee, Neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

18 N o se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, Ni se han desviado nuestros pasos de Tu senda;

Our heart is not turned back, Neither have our steps declined from thy way,

19 S in embargo, nos has quebrantado en la región de los chacales, Y nos has cubierto con la sombra de la muerte.

That thou hast sore broken us in the place of jackals, And covered us with the shadow of death.

20 S i nos hubiéramos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, O extendido nuestras manos a un dios extraño,

If we have forgotten the name of our God, Or spread forth our hands to a strange god;

21 ¿ No se habría dado cuenta Dios de esto? Pues El conoce los secretos del corazón.

Will not God search this out? For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

22 P ero por causa Tuya nos matan cada día; Se nos considera como ovejas para el matadero.

Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

23 ¡ Despierta! ¿Por qué duermes, Señor ? ¡Levántate! No nos rechaces para siempre.

Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, cast us not off for ever.

24 ¿ Por qué escondes Tu rostro Y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción y de nuestra opresión ?

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

25 P orque nuestra alma se ha hundido en el polvo; Nuestro cuerpo está pegado a la tierra.

For our soul is bowed down to the dust: Our body cleaveth unto the earth.

26 ¡ Levántate! Sé nuestra ayuda, Y redímenos por amor de Tu misericordia.

Rise up for our help, And redeem us for thy lovingkindness' sake.
