1 L os Israelitas volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, y el Señor los entregó en manos de los Filisteos durante cuarenta años.

And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah; and Jehovah delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

2 H abía un hombre de Zora, de la familia de los Danitas, el cual se llamaba Manoa; su mujer era estéril y no había tenido hijos.

And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.

3 E ntonces el ángel del Señor se le apareció a la mujer, y le dijo: “Tú eres estéril y no has tenido hijos, pero vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo.

And the angel of Jehovah appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not; but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

4 A hora pues, cuídate de no beber vino ni licor, y de no comer ninguna cosa inmunda.

Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:

5 P orque vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo. El no pasará navaja sobre su cabeza, porque el niño será Nazareo para Dios desde el seno materno. Y él comenzará a salvar a Israel de manos de los Filisteos.”

for, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come upon his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

6 L a mujer fue y se lo dijo a su marido: “Un hombre de Dios vino a mí, y su aspecto era como el aspecto del ángel de Dios, muy imponente. Yo no le pregunté de dónde venía, ni él me hizo saber su nombre.

Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of the angel of God, very terrible; and I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:

7 P ero él me dijo: ‘Vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo; desde ahora no beberás vino ni licor, ni comerás cosa inmunda, porque el niño será Nazareo para Dios desde el seno materno hasta el día de su muerte.’”

but he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing; for the child shall be a Nazirite unto God from the womb to the day of his death.

8 E ntonces Manoa imploró al Señor, y dijo: “Te ruego Señor, que el hombre de Dios que Tú enviaste venga otra vez a nosotros, para que nos enseñe lo que hemos de hacer con el niño que ha de nacer.”

Then Manoah entreated Jehovah, and said, Oh, Lord, I pray thee, let the man of God whom thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

9 D ios escuchó la voz de Manoa. Y el ángel de Dios vino otra vez a la mujer cuando estaba sentada en el campo; pero Manoa su marido no estaba con ella.

And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.

10 L a mujer corrió rápidamente y avisó a su marido, y le dijo: “Ven, se me ha aparecido el hombre que vino el otro día.”

And the woman made haste, and ran, and told her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.

11 M anoa se levantó y siguió a su mujer, y cuando llegó al hombre, le dijo: “¿Eres el hombre que habló a la mujer ?” “Yo soy,” respondió él.

And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.

12 Y Manoa le preguntó: “Cuando tus palabras se cumplan, ¿cómo debe ser el modo de vivir del muchacho y cuál su vocación?”

And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass: what shall be the ordering of the child, and how shall we do unto him?

13 Y el ángel del Señor contestó a Manoa: “Que la mujer atienda a todo lo que le dije.

And the angel of Jehovah said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.

14 N o comerá nada que venga de la vid, no beberá vino ni licor, ni comerá nada inmundo. Ella deberá guardar todo lo que le he ordenado.” Nacimiento de Sansón

She may not eat of anything that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; all that I commanded her let her observe.

15 E ntonces Manoa dijo al ángel del Señor: “Permítenos detenerte y prepararte un cabrito.”

And Manoah said unto the angel of Jehovah, I pray thee, let us detain thee, that we may make ready a kid for thee.

16 Y el ángel del Señor respondió a Manoa: “Aunque me detengas, no comeré de tu alimento, pero si preparas un holocausto, ofrécelo al Señor.” Y Manoa no sabía que era el ángel del Señor.

And the angel of Jehovah said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread; and if thou wilt make ready a burnt-offering, thou must offer it unto Jehovah. For Manoah knew not that he was the angel of Jehovah.

17 Y Manoa dijo al ángel del Señor: “¿Cuál es tu nombre, para que cuando se cumplan tus palabras, te honremos?”

And Manoah said unto the angel of Jehovah, What is thy name, that, when thy words come to pass, we may do thee honor?

18 E l ángel del Señor le respondió: “¿Por qué preguntas mi nombre, viendo que es maravilloso (incomprensible) ?”

And the angel of Jehovah said unto him, Wherefore askest thou after my name, seeing it is wonderful?

19 E ntonces Manoa tomó el cabrito con la ofrenda de cereal y los ofreció sobre una piedra al Señor, y el ángel hizo maravillas mientras que Manoa y su mujer observaban.

So Manoah took the kid with the meal-offering, and offered it upon the rock unto Jehovah: and the angel did wondrously, and Manoah and his wife looked on.

20 P ues sucedió que cuando la llama subía del altar hacia el cielo, el ángel del Señor ascendió en la llama del altar. Al ver esto, Manoa y su mujer cayeron rostro en tierra.

For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of Jehovah ascended in the flame of the altar: and Manoah and his wife looked on; and they fell on their faces to the ground.

21 E l ángel del Señor no se volvió a aparecer a Manoa ni a su mujer. Entonces Manoa supo que era el ángel del Señor.

But the angel of Jehovah did no more appear to Manoah or to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of Jehovah.

22 Y Manoa dijo a su mujer: “Ciertamente moriremos, porque hemos visto a Dios.”

And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

23 P ero su mujer le contestó: “Si el Señor hubiera deseado matarnos, no habría aceptado el holocausto ni la ofrenda de cereal de nuestras manos; tampoco nos habría mostrado todas estas cosas, ni nos habría permitido ahora oír cosas como éstas.”

But his wife said unto him, If Jehovah were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt-offering and a meal-offering at our hand, neither would he have showed us all these things, nor would at this time have told such things as these.

24 Y la mujer dio a luz un hijo y le puso por nombre Sansón. El niño creció y el Señor lo bendijo.

And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and Jehovah blessed him.

25 Y el Espíritu del Señor comenzó a manifestarse en él en Majané Dan (el campamento de Dan), entre Zora y Estaol.

And the Spirit of Jehovah began to move him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
