1 D espués de esto, se celebraba una fiesta de los Judíos, y Jesús subió a Jerusalén.

After these things there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 H ay en Jerusalén, junto a la Puerta de las Ovejas, un estanque que en Hebreo se llama Betesda que tiene cinco pórticos.

Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches.

3 E n éstos estaba en el suelo una multitud de enfermos, ciegos, cojos y paralíticos que esperaban el movimiento del agua;

In these lay a multitude of them that were sick, blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

4 p orque un ángel del Señor descendía de vez en cuando al estanque y agitaba el agua; y el primero que descendía al estanque después del movimiento del agua, quedaba curado de cualquier enfermedad que tuviera.

for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the waters stepped in was made whole, with whatsoever disease he was holden.

5 E staba allí un hombre que hacía treinta y ocho años que estaba enfermo.

And a certain man was there, who had been thirty and eight years in his infirmity.

6 C uando Jesús lo vio acostado allí y supo que ya llevaba mucho tiempo en aquella condición, le dijo: “¿Quieres ser sano?”

When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wouldest thou be made whole?

7 E l enfermo Le respondió: “Señor, no tengo a nadie que me meta en el estanque cuando el agua es agitada; y mientras yo llego, otro baja antes que yo.”

The sick man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 J esús le dijo: “Levántate, toma tu camilla y anda.”

Jesus saith unto him, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 A l instante el hombre quedó sano, y tomó su camilla y comenzó a andar. Jesús Censurado por Sanar en el Día de Reposo Pero aquel día era día de reposo.

And straightway the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked. Now it was the sabbath on that day.

10 P or eso los Judíos decían al que había sido sanado: “Es día de reposo, y no te es permitido cargar tu camilla.”

So the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.

11 P ero él les respondió: “El mismo que me sanó, me dijo: ‘Toma tu camilla y anda.’

But he answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12 L e preguntaron: “¿Quién es el hombre que te dijo: ‘Toma tu camilla y anda’?”

They asked him, Who is the man that said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

13 P ero el que había sido sanado no sabía quién era, porque Jesús, sin que se dieran cuenta, se había apartado de la multitud que estaba en aquel lugar.

But he that was healed knew not who it was; for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in the place.

14 D espués de esto Jesús lo halló en el templo y le dijo: “Mira, has sido sanado; no peques más, para que no te suceda algo peor.”

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing befall thee.

15 E l hombre se fue, y dijo a los Judíos que Jesús era el que lo había sanado.

The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him whole.

16 A causa de esto los Judíos perseguían a Jesús, porque hacía estas cosas en el día de reposo.

And for this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.

17 P ero Jesús les respondió: “Hasta ahora Mi Padre trabaja, y Yo también trabajo.”

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh even until now, and I work.

18 E ntonces, por esta causa, los Judíos aún más procuraban matar a Jesús, porque no sólo violaba el día de reposo, sino que también llamaba a Dios Su propio Padre, haciéndose igual a Dios. Unanimidad del Padre y del Hijo

For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only brake the sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

19 P or eso Jesús les decía: “En verdad les digo que el Hijo no puede hacer nada por su cuenta, sino lo que ve hacer al Padre; porque todo lo que hace el Padre, eso también hace el Hijo de igual manera.

Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doeth, these the Son also doeth in like manner.

20 P ues el Padre ama al Hijo, y Le muestra todo lo que El mismo hace; y obras mayores que éstas Le mostrará, para que ustedes se queden asombrados.

For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and greater works than these will he show him, that ye may marvel.

21 P orque así como el Padre levanta a los muertos y les da vida, asimismo el Hijo también da vida a los que El quiere.

For as the Father raiseth the dead and giveth them life, even so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.

22 P orque ni aun el Padre juzga a nadie, sino que todo juicio se lo ha confiado al Hijo,

For neither doth the Father judge any man, but he hath given all judgment unto the Son;

23 p ara que todos honren al Hijo así como honran al Padre. El que no honra al Hijo, no honra al Padre que Lo envió.

that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him.

24 “ En verdad les digo: el que oye Mi palabra y cree al que Me envió, tiene vida eterna y no viene a condenación (a juicio), sino que ha pasado de muerte a vida.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.

25 E n verdad les digo que viene la hora, y ahora es, cuando los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y los que oigan vivirán.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live.

26 P orque como el Padre tiene vida en El mismo, así también Le dio al Hijo el tener vida en El mismo;

For as the Father hath life in himself, even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself:

27 y Le dio autoridad para ejecutar juicio, porque El es el Hijo del Hombre.

and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.

28 N o se queden asombrados de esto, porque viene la hora en que todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán Su voz,

Marvel not at this: for the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice,

29 y saldrán: los que hicieron lo bueno, a resurrección de vida, y los que practicaron lo malo, a resurrección de juicio. Testimonio del Padre y de las Obras de Jesús

and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.

30 “ Yo no puedo hacer nada por iniciativa Mía; como oigo, juzgo, y Mi juicio es justo porque no busco Mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que Me envió.

I can of myself do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is righteous; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

31 S i Yo solo doy testimonio de Mí mismo, Mi testimonio no es verdadero.

If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

32 O tro es el que da testimonio de Mí, y Yo sé que el testimonio que da de Mí es verdadero.

It is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

33 U stedes han enviado a preguntar a Juan, y él ha dado testimonio de la verdad.

Ye have sent unto John, and he hath borne witness unto the truth.

34 P ero el testimonio que Yo recibo no es de hombre; pero digo esto para que ustedes sean salvos.

But the witness which I receive is not from man: howbeit I say these things, that ye may be saved.

35 E l era la lámpara que ardía y alumbraba, y ustedes estaban dispuestos a regocijarse por un tiempo en su luz.

He was the lamp that burneth and shineth; and ye were willing to rejoice for a season in his light.

36 P ero el testimonio que Yo tengo es mayor que el de Juan; porque las obras que el Padre Me ha dado para llevar a cabo, las mismas obras que Yo hago, dan testimonio de Mí, de que el Padre Me ha enviado.

But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37 E l Padre que Me envió, El ha dado testimonio de Mí. Pero ustedes no han oído jamás Su voz ni han visto Su apariencia.

And the Father that sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.

38 Y Su palabra no la tienen morando en ustedes, porque no creen en Aquél que El envió.

And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he sent, him ye believe not.

39 U stedes examinan las Escrituras porque piensan tener en ellas la vida eterna. ¡Y son ellas las que dan testimonio de Mí!

Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me;

40 P ero ustedes no quieren venir a Mí para que tengan esa vida.

and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

41 Y o no recibo (no acepto) gloria de los hombres;

I receive not glory from men.

42 p ero a ustedes ya los conozco, que no tienen el amor de Dios.

But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in yourselves.

43 Y o he venido en nombre de Mi Padre y ustedes no Me reciben; si otro viene en su propio nombre, a ése recibirán.

I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44 ¿ Cómo pueden creer, cuando reciben gloria (honor) los unos de los otros, y no buscan la gloria que viene del Dios único ?

How can ye believe, who receive glory one of another, and the glory that cometh from the only God ye seek not?

45 N o piensen que Yo los acusaré delante del Padre; el que los acusa es Moisés, en quien ustedes han puesto su esperanza.

Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, on whom ye have set your hope.

46 P orque si creyeran a Moisés, me creerían a Mí, porque de Mí escribió él.

For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me.

47 P ero si no creen sus escritos, ¿cómo creerán Mis palabras?”

But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
