A wise son heareth his father's instruction; But a scoffer heareth not rebuke.

2 D el fruto de su boca el hombre comerá el bien, Pero el deseo de los traidores es la violencia.

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; But the soul of the treacherous shall eat violence.

3 E l que guarda su boca, preserva su vida; El que mucho abre sus labios, termina en ruina.

He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; But he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

4 E l alma del perezoso desea mucho, pero nada consigue, Sin embargo, el alma de los diligentes queda satisfecha.

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

5 E l justo aborrece la falsedad, Pero el impío causa repugnancia y vergüenza.

A righteous man hateth lying; But a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

6 L a justicia guarda al íntegro en su camino, Pero la maldad destruye al pecador.

Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

7 H ay quien pretende ser rico, y nada tiene; Hay quien pretende ser pobre, y tiene una gran fortuna.

There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: There is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great wealth.

8 E l rescate de la vida de un hombre está en sus riquezas, Pero el pobre no oye amenazas.

The ransom of a man's life is his riches; But the poor heareth no threatening.

9 L a luz de los justos brilla alegremente, Pero la lámpara de los impíos se apaga.

The light of the righteous rejoiceth; But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

10 P or la soberbia sólo viene la contienda, Pero con los que reciben consejos está la sabiduría.

By pride cometh only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.

11 L a fortuna obtenida con fraude disminuye, Pero el que la recoge con trabajo la aumenta.

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase.

12 L a esperanza que se demora enferma el corazón, Pero el deseo cumplido es árbol de vida.

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

13 E l que desprecia la palabra pagará por ello, Pero el que teme el mandamiento será recompensado.

Whoso despiseth the word bringeth destruction on himself; But he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

14 L a enseñanza del sabio es fuente de vida, Para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.

The law of the wise is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.

15 E l buen entendimiento produce favor, Pero el camino de los malvados es difícil.

Good understanding giveth favor; But the way of the transgressor is hard.

16 T odo hombre prudente obra con conocimiento, Pero el necio ostenta necedad.

Every prudent man worketh with knowledge; But a fool flaunteth his folly.

17 E l mensajero perverso cae en la adversidad, Pero el enviado fiel trae sanidad.

A wicked messenger falleth into evil; But a faithful ambassador is health.

18 P obreza y vergüenza vendrán al que desprecia la instrucción, Pero el que acepta la reprensión será honrado.

Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth correction; But he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.

19 D eseo cumplido es dulzura para el alma, Pero es abominación para los necios el apartarse del mal.

The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.

20 E l que anda con sabios será sabio, Pero el compañero de los necios sufrirá daño.

Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise; But the companion of fools shall smart for it.

21 A los pecadores los persigue el mal, Pero los justos serán recompensados con el bien.

Evil pursueth sinners; But the righteous shall be recompensed with good.

22 E l hombre bueno deja herencia a los hijos de sus hijos, Pero la riqueza del pecador está reservada para el justo.

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children; And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.

23 E l terreno de los pobres tiene mucho de comer, Pero se pierde por la injusticia.

Much food is in the tillage of the poor; But there is that is destroyed by reason of injustice.

24 E l que evita la vara odia a su hijo, Pero el que lo ama lo disciplina con diligencia.

He that spareth his rod hateth his son; But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

25 E l justo come hasta saciar su alma, Pero el vientre de los impíos sufre escasez.

The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul; But the belly of the wicked shall want.
