1 A l tercer mes de la salida de los Israelitas de la tierra de Egipto, ese mismo día, llegaron al desierto de Sinaí.

In the third month after the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

2 S alieron de Refidim, llegaron al desierto de Sinaí y acamparon en el desierto. Allí, delante del monte, acampó Israel.

And when they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mount.

3 M oisés subió hacia Dios, y el Señor lo llamó desde el monte y le dijo: “Así dirás a la casa de Jacob y anunciarás a los Israelitas:

And Moses went up unto God, and Jehovah called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:

4 ‘ Ustedes han visto lo que he hecho a los Egipcios, y cómo los he tomado sobre alas de águilas y los he traído a Mí.

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

5 A hora pues, si en verdad escuchan Mi voz y guardan Mi pacto, serán Mi especial tesoro entre todos los pueblos, porque Mía es toda la tierra.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples: for all the earth is mine:

6 U stedes serán para Mí un reino de sacerdotes y una nación santa.’ Estas son las palabras que dirás a los Israelitas.”

and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

7 E ntonces Moisés fue y llamó a los ancianos del pueblo, y expuso delante de ellos todas estas palabras que el Señor le había mandado.

And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Jehovah commanded him.

8 Y todo el pueblo respondió a una, y dijeron: “Haremos todo lo que el Señor ha dicho.” Y Moisés llevó al Señor las palabras del pueblo.

And all the people answered together, and said, All that Jehovah hath spoken we will do. And Moses reported the words of the people unto Jehovah.

9 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Yo vendré a ti en una densa nube, para que el pueblo oiga cuando Yo hable contigo y también te crean para siempre.” Entonces Moisés comunicó al pueblo las palabras del Señor.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and may also believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto Jehovah.

10 E l Señor dijo también a Moisés: “Ve al pueblo y conságralos hoy y mañana, y que laven sus vestidos.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to-day and to-morrow, and let them wash their garments,

11 Q ue estén preparados para el tercer día, porque al tercer día el Señor descenderá a la vista de todo el pueblo sobre el Monte Sinaí.

and be ready against the third day; for the third day Jehovah will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

12 P ondrás límites alrededor para el pueblo, y dirás: ‘De ningún modo suban al monte o toquen su límite. Cualquiera que toque el monte, ciertamente morirá.

And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

13 N inguna mano lo tocará, sino que morirá apedreado o a flechazos. Sea animal o sea hombre, no vivirá.’ Cuando suene largamente la bocina ellos subirán al monte.”

no hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, he shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

14 Y Moisés bajó del monte al pueblo, y santificó al pueblo. Después ellos lavaron sus vestidos.

And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their garments.

15 E ntonces Moisés dijo al pueblo: “Estén preparados para el tercer día. No se acerquen a mujer.” La Majestuosa Presencia del Señor

And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not near a woman.

16 Y aconteció que al tercer día, cuando llegó la mañana, hubo truenos y relámpagos y una densa nube sobre el monte y un sonido tan fuerte de trompeta, que hizo temblar a todo el pueblo que estaba en el campamento.

And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of a trumpet exceeding loud; and all the people that were in the camp trembled.

17 E ntonces Moisés sacó al pueblo del campamento para ir al encuentro de Dios, y ellos se quedaron al pie del monte.

And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

18 T odo el Monte Sinaí humeaba, porque el Señor había descendido sobre él en fuego. El humo subía como el humo de un horno, y todo el monte se estremecía con violencia.

And mount Sinai, the whole of it, smoked, because Jehovah descended upon it in fire; and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

19 E l sonido de la trompeta aumentaba más y más. Moisés hablaba, y Dios le respondía con el trueno.

And when the voice of the trumpet waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

20 E l Señor descendió a la cumbre del Monte Sinaí. Entonces el Señor llamó a Moisés a la cumbre del monte, y Moisés subió.

And Jehovah came down upon mount Sinai, to the top of the mount: and Jehovah called Moses to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

21 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Desciende, advierte al pueblo, no sea que traspasen los límites para ver al Señor y perezcan muchos de ellos.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto Jehovah to gaze, and many of them perish.

22 T ambién que se santifiquen los sacerdotes que se acercan al Señor, no sea que el Señor irrumpa contra ellos.”

And let the priests also, that come near to Jehovah, sanctify themselves, lest Jehovah break forth upon them.

23 Y Moisés dijo al Señor: “El pueblo no puede subir al Monte Sinaí, porque Tú nos advertiste: ‘Pon límites alrededor del monte y santifícalo.’”

And Moses said unto Jehovah, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou didst charge us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

24 E ntonces el Señor le dijo: “Ve, desciende, y vuelve a subir, tú y Aarón contigo; pero que los sacerdotes y el pueblo no traspasen los límites para subir al Señor, no sea que El se lance contra ellos.”

And Jehovah said unto him, Go, get thee down; and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto Jehovah, lest he break forth upon them.

25 D escendió, pues, Moisés y advirtió al pueblo.

So Moses went down unto the people, and told them.
