1 I n quello stesso tempo vennero alcuni a riferirgli il fatto dei Galilei il cui sangue Pilato aveva mescolato con i loro sacrifici.

Now on the same occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

2 E gli rispose loro: «Pensate che quei Galilei fossero più peccatori di tutti i Galilei, perché hanno sofferto quelle cose ?

And Jesus said to them, “ Do you suppose that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered this fate ?

3 N o, vi dico; ma se non vi ravvedete, perirete tutti allo stesso modo.

I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

4 O quei diciotto sui quali cadde la torre in Siloe e li uccise, pensate che fossero più colpevoli di tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme?

Or do you suppose that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem?

5 N o, vi dico; ma se non vi ravvedete, perirete tutti allo stesso modo». Parabola del fico

I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

6 D isse anche questa parabola: «Un tale aveva un fico piantato nella sua vigna; andò a cercarvi del frutto e non ne trovò.

And He began telling this parable: “A man had a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any.

7 D isse dunque al vignaiuolo: “Ecco, sono ormai tre anni che vengo a cercar frutto da questo fico e non ne trovo. Taglialo! Perché sta lì a sfruttare il terreno?”

And he said to the vineyard-keeper, ‘Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree without finding any. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?’

8 M a l’altro gli rispose: “Signore, lascialo ancora quest’anno; gli zapperò intorno e gli metterò del concime.

And he answered and said to him, ‘Let it alone, sir, for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer;

9 F orse darà frutto in avvenire; se no, lo taglierai ”». Guarigione di una donna paralitica

and if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, cut it down.’” Healing on the Sabbath

10 G esù stava insegnando di sabato in una delle sinagoghe.

And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.

11 E cco una donna, che da diciotto anni aveva uno spirito che la rendeva inferma, ed era tutta curva e assolutamente incapace di raddrizzarsi.

And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all.

12 G esù, vedutala, la chiamò a sé e le disse: «Donna, tu sei liberata dalla tua infermità».

When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.”

13 P ose le mani su di lei e, nello stesso momento, ella fu raddrizzata e glorificava Dio.

And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God.

14 O r il capo della sinagoga, indignato che Gesù avesse fatto una guarigione di sabato, disse alla folla: «Ci sono sei giorni nei quali si deve lavorare; venite dunque in quelli a farvi guarire, e non in giorno di sabato».

But the synagogue official, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “ There are six days in which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”

15 M a il Signore gli rispose: «Ipocriti! Ciascuno di voi non scioglie, di sabato, il suo bue o il suo asino dalla mangiatoia per condurlo a bere?

But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away to water him ?

16 E questa, che è figlia di Abraamo, e che Satana aveva tenuto legata per ben diciotto anni, non doveva essere sciolta da questo legame in giorno di sabato?»

And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?”

17 M entre diceva queste cose, tutti i suoi avversari si vergognavano, e la moltitudine si rallegrava di tutte le opere gloriose da lui compiute. Parabole del granello di senape e del lievito

As He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him. Parables of Mustard Seed and Leaven

18 D iceva ancora: «A che cosa è simile il regno di Dio, e a che cosa lo paragonerò?

So He was saying, “ What is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it?

19 È simile a un granello di senape che un uomo ha preso e gettato nel suo orto; ed è cresciuto ed è divenuto un albero, e gli uccelli del cielo si sono riparati sui suoi rami».

It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.”

20 E di nuovo disse: «A che cosa paragonerò il regno di Dio?

And again He said, “ To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?

21 E sso è simile al lievito che una donna ha preso e nascosto in tre misure di farina, finché fu tutta lievitata». Insegnamento di Gesù lungo la via per Gerusalemme

It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.” Teaching in the Villages

22 E gli attraversava città e villaggi, insegnando e avvicinandosi a Gerusalemme.

And He was passing through from one city and village to another, teaching, and proceeding on His way to Jerusalem.

23 U n tale gli disse: «Signore, sono pochi i salvati?» Ed egli disse loro:

And someone said to Him, “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” And He said to them,

24 « Sforzatevi di entrare per la porta stretta, perché io vi dico che molti cercheranno di entrare e non potranno.

“ Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

25 Q uando il padrone di casa si alzerà e chiuderà la porta, voi, stando di fuori, comincerete a bussare alla porta, dicendo: “Signore, aprici”. Ed egli vi risponderà: “Io non so da dove venite”.

Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘ Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘ I do not know where you are from.’

26 A llora comincerete a dire: “Noi abbiamo mangiato e bevuto in tua presenza, e tu hai insegnato nelle nostre piazze!”

Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets’;

27 E d egli dirà: “Io vi dico che non so da dove venite. Allontanatevi da me, voi tutti, malfattori ”.

and He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from; depart from Me, all you evildoers.’

28 L à ci sarà pianto e stridor di denti, quando vedrete Abraamo, Isacco, Giacobbe e tutti i profeti nel regno di Dio, e voi ne sarete buttati fuori.

In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out.

29 E ne verranno da oriente e da occidente, da settentrione e da mezzogiorno, e staranno a tavola nel regno di Dio.

And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.

30 E cco, vi sono degli ultimi che saranno primi e dei primi che saranno ultimi».

And behold, some are last who will be first and some are first who will be last.”

31 I n quello stesso momento vennero alcuni farisei a dirgli: «Parti e vattene di qui, perché Erode vuol farti morire».

Just at that time some Pharisees approached, saying to Him, “Go away, leave here, for Herod wants to kill You.”

32 E d egli disse loro: «Andate a dire a quella volpe: “Ecco, io scaccio i demòni, compio guarigioni oggi e domani, e il terzo giorno avrò terminato”.

And He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal.’

33 M a bisogna che io cammini oggi, domani e dopodomani, perché non può essere che un profeta muoia fuori di Gerusalemme.

Nevertheless I must journey on today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.

34 G erusalemme, Gerusalemme, che uccidi i profeti e lapidi coloro che ti sono mandati, quante volte ho voluto raccogliere i tuoi figli, come la chioccia raccoglie i suoi pulcini sotto le ali; e voi non avete voluto!

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it!

35 E cco, la vostra casa sta per esservi lasciata. Io vi dico che non mi vedrete più, fino al giorno in cui direte: “Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!” ».

Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘ Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
