1 F ammi giustizia, o Dio, difendi la mia causa contro gente malvagia; liberami dall’uomo falso e malvagio.

Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!

2 T u sei il Dio che mi dà forza; perché mi hai abbandonato? Perché devo andare vestito a lutto per l’oppressione del nemico?

For You are the God of my strength; why have You rejected me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

3 M anda la tua luce e la tua verità, perché mi guidino, mi conducano al tuo santo monte e alle tue dimore.

O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your dwelling places.

4 A llora mi avvicinerò all’altare di Dio, al Dio della mia gioia e della mia esultanza; e ti celebrerò con la cetra, o Dio, Dio mio!

Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God.

5 P erché ti abbatti, anima mia? Perché ti agiti in me? Spera in Dio, perché lo celebrerò ancora; egli è il mio salvatore e il mio Dio.

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
