1 C uando David ya era muy anciano y colmado de días, puso a su hijo Salomón como rey sobre Israel.

So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

2 Y reunió a todos los principales de Israel con los sacerdotes y los Levitas.

And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

3 L os Levitas fueron contados de treinta años para arriba, y su número, según el censo de los hombres, fue de 38, 000.

Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

4 D e éstos, 24, 000 debían dirigir la obra de la casa del Señor, 6, 000 eran oficiales y jueces,

Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges:

5 y 4, 000 eran porteros y 4, 000 alababan al Señor con los instrumentos que David había hecho para tributar alabanza.

moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

6 D avid los dividió en clases conforme a los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari.

And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

7 D e los de Gersón fueron Laadán y Simei.

Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.

8 L os hijos de Laadán fueron Jehiel el primero, Zetam y Joel: tres.

The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

9 L os hijos de Simei fueron Selomit, Haziel y Harán: tres. Estos fueron los jefes de las casas paternas de Laadán.

The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.

10 Y los hijos de Simei fueron Jahat, Zina, Jeús y Bería. Estos cuatro fueron los hijos de Simei.

And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

11 J ahat fue el primero y Zina el segundo; pero Jeús y Bería no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo cual constituyeron una casa paterna, un grupo.

And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house.

12 L os hijos de Coat fueron cuatro: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón y Uziel.

The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

13 L os hijos de Amram fueron Aarón y Moisés. Y Aarón fue separado para ser santificado como el más santo, él y sus hijos para siempre, para quemar incienso delante del Señor, para servirle y para bendecir en Su nombre para siempre.

The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.

14 P ero en cuanto a Moisés el hombre de Dios, sus hijos fueron contados entre la tribu de Leví.

Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

15 L os hijos de Moisés fueron Gersón y Eliezer.

The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.

16 E l hijo de Gersón fue Sebuel el jefe.

Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.

17 Y el hijo de Eliezer fue Rehabías el jefe; y Eliezer no tuvo más hijos, pero los hijos de Rehabías fueron muchos.

And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

18 E l hijo de Izhar fue Selomit el jefe.

Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.

19 L os hijos de Hebrón fueron Jerías el primero, Amarías el segundo, Jahaziel el tercero, y Jecamán el cuarto.

Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

20 L os hijos de Uziel fueron Micaía el primero, e Isías el segundo.

Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah the first, and Jesiah the second.

21 L os hijos de Merari fueron Mahli y Musi. Los hijos de Mahli fueron Eleazar y Cis.

The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.

22 Y Eleazar murió y no tuvo hijos, sino sólo hijas, de modo que sus parientes, los hijos de Cis, las tomaron por mujeres.

And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

23 L os hijos de Musi fueron tres: Mahli, Eder y Jeremot.

The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

24 E stos fueron los hijos de Leví conforme a sus casas paternas, es decir, los jefes de las casas paternas de los que fueron contados, en la cuenta de nombres según su censo, de veinte años para arriba, los cuales hacían la obra del servicio de la casa del Señor.

These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward.

25 P orque David dijo: “El Señor, Dios de Israel, ha dado reposo a su pueblo, y El habita en Jerusalén para siempre.

For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:

26 Y además los Levitas ya no tendrán que llevar el tabernáculo y todos los utensilios para su servicio.”

and also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.

27 P orque de acuerdo con las últimas palabras de David, los hijos de Leví eran contados de veinte años para arriba;

For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:

28 y su oficio sería ayudar a los hijos de Aarón en el servicio de la casa del Señor, en los atrios y en las cámaras y en la purificación de todas las cosas sagradas y en la obra del servicio de la casa de Dios.

because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

29 T ambién debían encargarse de los panes de la proposición, la flor de harina para la ofrenda de cereal, los hojaldres sin levadura, lo preparado en sartén, lo bien mezclado y todas las medidas de capacidad y longitud.

both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;

30 D ebían estar presentes cada mañana para dar gracias y para alabar al Señor, y asimismo por la noche,

and to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even;

31 p ara ofrecer todos los holocaustos al Señor todos los días de reposo, las lunas nuevas y las fiestas señaladas según el número fijado por la ordenanza que las prescribe, continuamente delante del Señor.

and to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the Lord in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the Lord:

32 A sí estarían encargados de cuidar la tienda de reunión, de cuidar el lugar santo y de cuidar a los hijos de Aarón sus parientes, para el servicio de la casa del Señor.

and that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.
