1 E ntonces Dios habló todas estas palabras diciendo:

And God spake all these words, saying,

2 “ Yo soy el Señor tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre (de la esclavitud).

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 “ No tendrás otros dioses delante de Mí.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 “ No te harás ningún ídolo (imagen tallada), ni semejanza alguna de lo que está arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

5 N o los adorarás (No te inclinarás ante ellos) ni los servirás (ni los honrarás). Porque Yo, el Señor tu Dios, soy Dios celoso, que castigo la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que Me aborrecen,

thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 y muestro misericordia a millares, a los que Me aman y guardan Mis mandamientos.

and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 “ No tomarás el nombre del Señor tu Dios en vano, porque el Señor no tendrá por inocente al que tome Su nombre en vano.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 “ Acuérdate del día de reposo para santificarlo.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 “ Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra,

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 p ero el séptimo día es día de reposo para el Señor tu Dios. No harás en él trabajo alguno, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu ganado, ni el extranjero que está contigo.

but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 P orque en seis días hizo el Señor los cielos y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que en ellos hay, y reposó en el séptimo día. Por tanto, el Señor bendijo el día de reposo y lo santificó.

for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 “ Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus días sean prolongados en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 “ No matarás (No asesinarás).

Thou shalt not kill.

14 “ No cometerás adulterio.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 “ No hurtarás.

Thou shalt not steal.

16 “ No darás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 “ No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo. No codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni nada que sea de tu prójimo.” El Pueblo Teme al Señor

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

18 T odo el pueblo percibía los truenos y relámpagos, el sonido de la trompeta y el monte que humeaba. Cuando el pueblo vio aquello, temblaron, y se mantuvieron a distancia.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

19 E ntonces dijeron a Moisés: “Habla tú con nosotros y escucharemos, pero que no hable Dios con nosotros, no sea que muramos.”

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20 M oisés respondió al pueblo: “No teman, porque Dios ha venido para ponerlos a prueba, y para que Su temor permanezca en ustedes, y para que no pequen.”

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

21 E l pueblo se mantuvo a distancia, mientras Moisés se acercaba a la densa nube donde estaba Dios.

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

22 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Así dirás a los Israelitas: ‘Ustedes han visto que les he hablado desde el cielo.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 N o harán junto a Mí dioses de plata ni dioses de oro. No se los harán.

Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

24 H arás un altar de tierra para Mí, y sobre él sacrificarás tus holocaustos y tus ofrendas de paz, tus ovejas y tus bueyes. En todo lugar donde Yo haga recordar Mi nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré.

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

25 S i Me haces un altar de piedra, no lo construirás de piedras labradas. Porque si alzas tu cincel sobre él, lo profanarás.

And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

26 Y no subirás por gradas a Mi altar, para que tu desnudez no se descubra sobre él.’

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
