1 A conteció que un día de reposo Jesús pasaba por unos sembrados, y Sus discípulos arrancaban y comían espigas, restregándo las entre las manos.

And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

2 P ero algunos de los Fariseos dijeron: “¿Por qué hacen ustedes lo que no es lícito en el día de reposo ?”

And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

3 J esús les respondió: “¿Ni siquiera han leído lo que hizo David cuando tuvo hambre, él y los que con él estaban;

And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;

4 c ómo entró en la casa de Dios, y tomó y comió los panes consagrados, que a nadie es lícito comer sino sólo a los sacerdotes, y dio también a sus compañeros?”

how he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

5 T ambién les decía: “El Hijo del Hombre es Señor del día de reposo.” Jesús Sana al Hombre de la Mano Seca

And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

6 Y en otro día de reposo entró en la sinagoga y enseñaba; y había allí un hombre que tenía la mano derecha seca.

And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.

7 A fin de encontrar de qué acusar a Jesús, los escribas y los Fariseos Lo observaban atentamente para ver si sanaba en el día de reposo.

And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

8 P ero El sabía lo que ellos estaban pensando, y dijo al hombre que tenía la mano seca (paralizada): “Levántate y ven acá.” Y él, levantándose, se puso de pie.

But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

9 E ntonces Jesús les dijo: “Yo les pregunto: ¿es lícito en el día de reposo hacer bien o hacer mal; salvar una vida o destruirla?”

Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it ?

10 D espués de mirarlos a todos a su alrededor, dijo al hombre: “Extiende tu mano.” Y él lo hizo así, y su mano quedó sana.

And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

11 P ero ellos se llenaron de ira, y discutían entre sí qué podrían hacerle a Jesús. Jesús Escoge a los Doce Apóstoles

And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

12 E n esos días Jesús se fue al monte a orar, y pasó toda la noche en oración a Dios.

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

13 C uando se hizo de día, llamó a Sus discípulos y escogió doce de ellos, a los que también dio el nombre de apóstoles:

And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

14 S imón, a quien también llamó Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Jacobo (Santiago) y Juan; Felipe y Bartolomé;

Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

15 M ateo y Tomás; Jacobo (Santiago), hijo de Alfeo, y Simón, al que llamaban el Zelote;

Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon called Zelotes,

16 J udas, hijo de Jacobo (Santiago), y Judas Iscariote, que llegó a ser traidor.

and Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.

17 D escendió con ellos y se detuvo en un lugar llano. Había una gran multitud de Sus discípulos y una gran muchedumbre del pueblo, de toda Judea, de Jerusalén y de la región costera de Tiro y Sidón,

And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

18 q ue habían ido para oír a Jesús y para ser sanados de sus enfermedades; y los que eran atormentados por espíritus inmundos eran curados.

and they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

19 Y toda la multitud procuraba tocar a Jesús, porque de El salía un poder que a todos sanaba. Las Bienaventuranzas

And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

20 V olviendo su vista hacia Sus discípulos, decía: “Bienaventurados ustedes los pobres, porque de ustedes es el reino de Dios.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

21 B ienaventurados ustedes los que ahora tienen hambre, porque serán saciados. Bienaventurados ustedes los que ahora lloran, porque reirán.

Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

22 B ienaventurados son ustedes cuando los hombres los aborrecen, cuando los apartan de sí, los colman de insultos y desechan su nombre como malo, por causa del Hijo del Hombre.

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.

23 A légrense en ese día y salten de gozo, porque su recompensa es grande en el cielo, pues sus padres trataban de la misma manera a los profetas.

Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

24 P ero ¡ay de ustedes los ricos! Porque ya están recibiendo todo su consuelo.

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

25 ¡ Ay de ustedes, los que ahora están saciados! Porque tendrán hambre. ¡Ay de ustedes, los que ahora ríen! Porque se lamentarán y llorarán.

Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

26 ¡ Ay de ustedes, cuando todos los hombres hablen bien de ustedes! Porque de la misma manera trataban sus padres a los falsos profetas. El Amor Verdadero y su Recompensa

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

27 “ Pero a ustedes los que oyen, les digo: amen a sus enemigos; hagan bien a los que los aborrecen;

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28 b endigan a los que los maldicen; oren por los que los insultan.

bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29 A l que te hiera en la mejilla, preséntale también la otra; y al que te quite la capa, no le niegues tampoco la túnica.

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 A todo el que te pida, dale, y al que te quite lo que es tuyo, no se lo reclames.

Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31 Y así como quieran que los hombres les hagan a ustedes, hagan con ellos de la misma manera.

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32 S i aman a los que los aman, ¿qué mérito tienen? Porque también los pecadores aman a los que los aman.

For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33 S i hacen bien a los que les hacen bien, ¿qué mérito tienen? Porque también los pecadores hacen lo mismo.

And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34 S i prestan a aquéllos de quienes esperan recibir, ¿qué mérito tienen? También los pecadores prestan a los pecadores para recibir de ellos la misma cantidad.

And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35 A ntes bien, amen a sus enemigos, y hagan bien, y presten no esperando nada a cambio, y su recompensa será grande, y serán hijos del Altísimo; porque El es bondadoso para con los ingratos y perversos.

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36 S ean ustedes misericordiosos, así como su Padre es misericordioso. El Juicio Hacia los Demás

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

37 “ No juzguen, y no serán juzgados; no condenen, y no serán condenados; perdonen, y serán perdonados.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

38 D en, y les será dado; medida buena, apretada, remecida y rebosante, vaciarán en sus regazos. Porque con la medida con que midan, se les volverá a medir.”

give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

39 L es dijo también una parábola: “¿Acaso puede un ciego guiar a otro ciego? ¿No caerán ambos en un hoyo ?

And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

40 U n discípulo no está por encima de su maestro; pero todo discípulo, después de que se ha preparado bien, será como su maestro.

The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

41 ¿ Y por qué miras la mota que está en el ojo de tu hermano, y no te das cuenta de la viga que está en tu propio ojo?

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

42 ¿ O cómo puedes decir a tu hermano: ‘Hermano, déjame sacarte la mota que está en tu ojo,’ cuando tú mismo no ves la viga que está en tu ojo? ¡Hipócrita! Saca primero la viga de tu ojo y entonces verás con claridad para sacar la mota que está en el ojo de tu hermano.

Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.

43 P orque no hay árbol bueno que produzca fruto malo, ni a la inversa, árbol malo que produzca fruto bueno.

For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

44 P ues cada árbol por su fruto se conoce. Porque los hombres no recogen higos de los espinos, ni vendimian uvas de una zarza.

For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

45 E l hombre bueno, del buen tesoro de su corazón saca lo que es bueno; y el hombre malo, del mal tesoro saca lo que es malo; porque de la abundancia del corazón habla su boca. Los Dos Cimientos

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

46 “ ¿Por qué ustedes Me llaman: ‘Señor, Señor,’ y no hacen lo que Yo digo?

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

47 T odo el que viene a Mí y oye Mis palabras y las pone en práctica, les mostraré a quién es semejante:

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

48 e s semejante a un hombre que al edificar una casa, cavó hondo y echó cimiento sobre la roca; y cuando vino una inundación, el torrente dio con fuerza contra aquella casa, pero no pudo moverla porque había sido bien construida.

he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

49 P ero el que ha oído y no ha hecho nada, es semejante a un hombre que edificó una casa sobre tierra, sin echar cimiento; y el torrente dio con fuerza contra ella y al instante se desplomó, y fue grande la ruina de aquella casa.”

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
