1 D espués de esto, Jesús se fue al otro lado del mar de Galilea, el de Tiberias.

After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

2 Y una gran multitud Lo seguía, pues veían las señales (los milagros) que realizaba en los enfermos.

And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3 E ntonces Jesús subió al monte y se sentó allí con Sus discípulos.

And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4 E staba cerca la Pascua, la fiesta de los Judíos.

And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 C uando Jesús alzó los ojos y vio que una gran multitud venía hacia El, dijo a Felipe: “¿Dónde compraremos pan para que coman éstos?”

When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 P ero decía esto para probarlo, porque El sabía lo que iba a hacer.

And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 F elipe Le respondió: “Doscientos denarios (salario de 200 días) de pan no les bastarán para que cada uno reciba un pedazo.”

Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 U no de Sus discípulos, Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, dijo a Jesús:

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

9 “ Aquí hay un muchacho que tiene cinco panes de cebada y dos pescados; pero ¿qué es esto para tantos?”

There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 “ Hagan que la gente se siente,” dijo Jesús. Y había mucha hierba en aquel lugar; así que se sentaron. El número de los hombres era de unos cinco mil.

And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 E ntonces Jesús tomó los panes, y habiendo dado gracias, los repartió a los que estaban sentados; y lo mismo hizo con los pescados, dándoles todo lo que querían.

And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 C uando se saciaron, dijo a Sus discípulos: “Recojan los pedazos que sobran, para que no se pierda nada.”

When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 E llos los recogieron, y llenaron doce cestas con los pedazos de los cinco panes de cebada que sobraron a los que habían comido.

Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 L a gente, entonces, al ver la señal (el milagro) que Jesús había hecho, decían: “Verdaderamente Este es el Profeta que había de venir al mundo.”

Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15 P or lo que Jesús, dándose cuenta de que iban a venir y por la fuerza hacerle rey, se retiró El solo otra vez al monte. Jesús Anda sobre el Mar

When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

16 A l atardecer Sus discípulos bajaron hasta el mar,

And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

17 y subiendo en una barca, se dirigieron al otro lado del mar, hacia Capernaúm. Ya había oscurecido, y Jesús todavía no había venido adonde ellos estaban;

and entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

18 y el mar estaba agitado porque soplaba un fuerte viento.

And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19 C uando habían remado unos cuatro o cinco kilómetros, vieron a Jesús caminando sobre el mar y que se acercaba a la barca, y se asustaron.

So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

20 P ero El les dijo: “Soy yo; no teman.”

But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

21 E ntonces ellos querían recibir a Jesús en la barca, pero la barca llegó enseguida a la tierra adonde iban. Jesús, el Pan de la Vida

Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

22 A l día siguiente, la multitud que había quedado al otro lado del mar se dio cuenta de que allí no había más que una barca, y que Jesús no había entrado en ella con Sus discípulos, sino que Sus discípulos se habían ido solos.

The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

23 V inieron otras barcas de Tiberias cerca del lugar donde habían comido el pan después de que el Señor había dado gracias.

(howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

24 P or tanto, cuando la gente vio que Jesús no estaba allí, ni tampoco Sus discípulos, subieron a las barcas y se fueron a Capernaúm buscando a Jesús.

when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 C uando Lo hallaron al otro lado del mar, Le dijeron: “Rabí (Maestro), ¿cuándo llegaste acá?”

And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 J esús les respondió: “En verdad les digo, que Me buscan, no porque hayan visto señales (milagros), sino porque han comido de los panes y se han saciado.

Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 T rabajen, no por el alimento que perece, sino por el alimento que permanece para vida eterna, el cual el Hijo del Hombre les dará, porque a El es a quien el Padre, Dios, ha marcado con Su sello.”

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 E ntonces Le preguntaron: “¿Qué debemos hacer para poner en práctica las obras de Dios?”

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 J esús les respondió: “Esta es la obra de Dios: que crean en el que El ha enviado.”

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

30 L e dijeron entonces: “¿Qué, pues, haces Tú como señal (milagro) para que veamos y Te creamos? ¿Qué obra haces?

They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

31 N uestros padres comieron el maná en el desierto, como está escrito: ‘ Les dio a comer pan del cielo.’”

Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32 E ntonces Jesús les dijo: “En verdad les digo, que no es Moisés el que les ha dado el pan del cielo, sino que es Mi Padre el que les da el verdadero pan del cielo.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33 P orque el pan de Dios es el que baja del cielo, y da vida al mundo.”

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34 “ Señor, danos siempre este pan,” Le dijeron.

Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 J esús les dijo: “Yo soy el pan de la vida; el que viene a Mí no tendrá hambre, y el que cree en Mí nunca tendrá sed.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36 P ero ya les dije que aunque Me han visto, no creen.

But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

37 T odo lo que el Padre Me da, vendrá a Mí; y al que viene a Mí, de ningún modo lo echaré fuera.

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 P orque he descendido del cielo, no para hacer Mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que Me envió.

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 Y ésta es la voluntad del que Me envió: que de todo lo que El Me ha dado Yo no pierda nada, sino que lo resucite en el día final.

And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 P orque ésta es la voluntad de Mi Padre: que todo aquél que ve al Hijo y cree en El, tenga vida eterna, y Yo mismo lo resucitaré en el día final.” Murmuración de los Judíos

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

41 P or eso los Judíos murmuraban de El, porque había dicho: “Yo soy el pan que descendió del cielo.”

The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

42 Y decían: “¿No es éste Jesús, el hijo de José, cuyo padre y madre nosotros conocemos ? ¿Cómo es que ahora dice: ‘Yo he descendido del cielo ’?”

And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

43 J esús les dijo: “No murmuren entre sí.

Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44 N adie puede venir a Mí si no lo trae el Padre que Me envió, y Yo lo resucitaré en el día final.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 E scrito está en los profetas: ‘Y todos seran enseñados por Dios.’ Todo el que ha oído y aprendido del Padre, viene a Mí.

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46 N o es que alguien haya visto al Padre; sino Aquél que viene de Dios, El ha visto al Padre.

Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

47 E n verdad les digo: el que cree, tiene vida eterna.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

48 Y o soy el pan de la vida.

I am that bread of life.

49 L os padres (antepasados) de ustedes comieron el maná en el desierto, y murieron.

Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

50 E ste es el pan que desciende del cielo, para que el que coma de él, no muera.

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 Y o soy el pan vivo que descendió del cielo; si alguien come de este pan, vivirá para siempre; y el pan que Yo también daré por la vida del mundo es Mi carne.”

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

52 L os Judíos, por tanto, discutían entre sí, diciendo: “¿Cómo puede Este darnos a comer Su carne?”

The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53 E ntonces Jesús les dijo: “En verdad les digo, que si no comen la carne del Hijo del Hombre y beben Su sangre, no tienen vida en ustedes.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54 E l que come Mi carne y bebe Mi sangre, tiene vida eterna, y Yo lo resucitaré en el día final.

Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

55 P orque Mi carne es verdadera comida, y Mi sangre es verdadera bebida.

For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

56 E l que come Mi carne y bebe Mi sangre, permanece en Mí y Yo en él.

He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

57 C omo el Padre que vive Me envió, y Yo vivo por el Padre, asimismo el que Me come, él también vivirá por Mí.

As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

58 E ste es el pan que descendió del cielo; no como el que los padres (antepasados) de ustedes comieron, y murieron; el que come este pan vivirá para siempre.”

This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

59 E sto dijo Jesús en la sinagoga, cuando enseñaba en Capernaúm. Reacción de los Discípulos

These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

60 P or eso muchos de Sus discípulos, cuando oyeron esto, dijeron: “Dura es esta declaración; ¿quién puede escucharla?”

Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

61 P ero Jesús, consciente de que Sus discípulos murmuraban por esto, les dijo: “¿Esto los escandaliza (los hace tropezar) ?

When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

62 ¿ Pues qué si vieran al Hijo del Hombre ascender adonde estaba antes ?

What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63 E l Espíritu es el que da vida; la carne para nada aprovecha; las palabras que Yo les he hablado son espíritu y son vida.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

64 P ero hay algunos de ustedes que no creen.” Porque Jesús sabía desde el principio quiénes eran los que no creían, y quién era el que Lo iba a traicionar (entregar).

But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

65 T ambién decía: “Por eso les he dicho que nadie puede venir a Mí si no se lo ha concedido el Padre.”

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

66 C omo resultado de esto muchos de Sus discípulos se apartaron y ya no andaban con El.

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

67 E ntonces Jesús dijo a los doce discípulos: “¿Acaso también ustedes quieren irse?”

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68 S imón Pedro Le respondió: “Señor, ¿a quién iremos? Tú tienes palabras de vida eterna.

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 Y nosotros hemos creído y sabemos que Tú eres el Santo de Dios.”

And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

70 J esús les respondió: “¿No los escogí Yo a ustedes, los doce, y sin embargo uno de ustedes es un diablo ?”

Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

71 E l se refería a Judas, hijo de Simón Iscariote, porque éste, uno de los doce, Lo iba a entregar.

He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
