1 E ntonces Jesús comenzó a hablarles en parábolas: “Un hombre planto una viña y la cerco con un muro, cavo un estanque debajo del lagar y edifico una torre; la arrendó a labradores y se fue de viaje.

And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

2 A l tiempo de la vendimia envió un siervo a los labradores para recibir de los labradores su parte de los frutos de la viña.

And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

3 P ero ellos, echándole mano, lo golpearon y lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

4 D e nuevo les mandó otro siervo, y a él lo hirieron en la cabeza y lo trataron vergonzosamente.

And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 E nvió a otro y a éste lo mataron; y así con muchos otros, golpeando a unos y matando a otros.

And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

6 T odavía le quedaba uno, un hijo amado; y les envió a este último, diciendo: ‘Respetarán a mi hijo.’

Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 P ero aquellos labradores se dijeron entre sí: ‘Este es el heredero; ¡vengan, matémoslo, y la heredad será nuestra!’

But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.

8 E chándole mano, lo mataron y lo arrojaron fuera de la viña.

And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

9 ¿ Qué hará, entonces, el dueño de la viña? Vendrá y destruirá a los labradores, y dará la viña a otros.

What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

10 ¿ Ni aun esta Escritura han leído: ‘ La piedra que desecharon los constructores, esa, en piedra angular se ha convertido;

And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

11 e sto fue hecho de parte del Señor, y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos ’?”

this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

12 Y procuraban prender a Jesús, pero temían a la multitud, porque comprendieron que contra ellos había dicho la parábola. Y Lo dejaron y se fueron. El Pago del Impuesto al César

And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

13 P ero enviaron algunos de los Fariseos y de los Herodianos para sorprender a Jesús en alguna palabra.

And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.

14 C uando ellos llegaron, Le dijeron: “Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz y que no buscas el favor de nadie, porque eres imparcial, y enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad. ¿Es lícito pagar impuesto al César, o no?

And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Cæsar, or not?

15 ¿ Pagaremos o no pagaremos ?” Pero El, dándose cuenta de su hipocresía, les preguntó: “¿Por qué Me están poniendo a prueba? Traigan un denario (moneda Romana) para verlo.”

Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.

16 S e lo trajeron, y El les dijo: “¿De quién es esta imagen y la inscripción?” “Del César,” Le contestaron.

And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Cæsar’s.

17 E ntonces Jesús les dijo: “Den al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.” Y se maravillaban de El. Pregunta sobre la Resurrección

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Cæsar the things that are Cæsar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.

18 A lgunos Saduceos, los que dicen que no hay resurrección, se acercaron a Jesús, y Le dijeron:

Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

19 “ Maestro, Moisés nos dejó escrito: ‘ Si el hermano de alguien muere y deja mujer y no deja hijo, que su hermano tome la mujer y levante descendencia a su hermano.’

Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20 H ubo siete hermanos; y el primero tomó esposa, y murió sin dejar descendencia.

Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

21 E l segundo la tomó, y murió sin dejar descendencia; y asimismo el tercero;

And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.

22 y así los siete, sin dejar descendencia. Y por último murió también la mujer.

And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

23 E n la resurrección, cuando resuciten, ¿de cuál de ellos será mujer? Pues los siete la tuvieron por mujer.”

In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24 J esús les dijo: “¿No es ésta la razón por la que están ustedes equivocados: que no entienden las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios?

And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25 P orque cuando ellos resuciten de entre los muertos, ni se casarán ni serán dados en matrimonio, sino que serán como los ángeles en los cielos.

For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

26 Y en cuanto a que los muertos resucitan, ¿no han leído en el Libro de Moisés, en el pasaje sobre la zarza ardiendo, cómo Dios le dijo: ‘ Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob ’?

And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

27 E l no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos; ustedes están muy equivocados.” El Mandamiento Supremo

He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

28 C uando uno de los escribas se acercó, los oyó discutir, y reconociendo que Jesús les había contestado bien, Le preguntó: “¿Cuál mandamiento es el más importante (el primero) de todos?”

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

29 J esús respondió: “El más importante es: ‘ Escucha, Israel; el Señor nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es;

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 y amaras al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazon, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente, y con toda tu fuerza.’

and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 E l segundo es éste: ‘ Amaras a tu projimo como a ti mismo.’ No hay otro mandamiento mayor que éstos.”

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

32 Y el escriba Le dijo: “Muy bien, Maestro; con verdad has dicho que El es Uno, y no hay otro ademas de El;

And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

33 y que amarle a El con todo el corazon y con todo el entendimiento y con todas las fuerzas, y amar al projimo como a uno mismo, es más que todos los holocaustos y los sacrificios.”

and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

34 V iendo Jesús que él había respondido sabiamente, le dijo: “No estás lejos del reino de Dios.” Y después de eso, nadie se aventuraba a hacer más preguntas. Jesús, Hijo y Señor de David

And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

35 M ientras enseñaba en el templo Jesús decía: “¿Por qué dicen los escribas que el Cristo (el Mesías) es hijo de David ?

And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?

36 D avid mismo dijo por el Espíritu Santo: ‘ El Señor dijo a mi Señor: “ sientate a Mi diestra, hasta que ponga a tus enemigos debajo de tus pies.”’”

For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

37 D avid mismo Lo llama ‘Señor.’ ¿En qué sentido es, pues, su hijo?” Y la gran multitud Lo escuchaba con gusto. Advertencia contra los Escribas

David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

38 Y en Su enseñanza les decía: “Cuídense de los escribas, a quienes les gusta andar con vestiduras largas, y aman los saludos respetuosos en las plazas,

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

39 l os primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los lugares de honor en los banquetes;

and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

40 q ue devoran las casas de las viudas, y por las apariencias hacen largas oraciones; éstos recibirán mayor condenación.” La Ofrenda de la Viuda

which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

41 J esús se sentó frente al arca del tesoro, y observaba cómo la multitud echaba dinero en el arca del tesoro; y muchos ricos echaban grandes cantidades.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42 L legó una viuda pobre y echó dos pequeñas monedas de cobre, o sea, un cuadrante.

And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 Y llamando Jesús a Sus discípulos, les dijo: “En verdad les digo, que esta viuda pobre echó más que todos los contribuyentes al tesoro;

And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44 p orque todos ellos echaron de lo que les sobra, pero ella, de su pobreza, echó todo lo que poseía, todo lo que tenía para vivir.”

for all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
