1 E ntonces Dios dijo a Jacob: “Levántate, sube a Betel (Casa de Dios) y habita allí. Haz allí un altar a Dios, que se te apareció cuando huías de tu hermano Esaú.”

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

2 Y Jacob dijo a los de su casa y a todos los que estaban con él: “Quiten los dioses extranjeros que hay entre ustedes. Purifíquense y cámbiense los vestidos.

Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:

3 L evantémonos, y subamos a Betel; y allí haré un altar a Dios, quien me respondió en el día de mi angustia, y que ha estado conmigo en el camino por donde he andado.”

and let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

4 E ntregaron, pues, a Jacob todos los dioses extranjeros que tenían en su poder y los pendientes que tenían en sus orejas; y Jacob los escondió debajo de la encina que estaba junto a Siquem.

And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

5 A l continuar el viaje, hubo gran terror en las ciudades alrededor de ellos, y no persiguieron a los hijos de Jacob.

And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

6 L legó Jacob a Luz, es decir, Betel, que está en la tierra de Canaán, él y todo el pueblo que estaba con él.

So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Beth-el, he and all the people that were with him.

7 E dificó allí un altar, y llamó al lugar El Betel (Dios de Betel), porque allí Dios se le había manifestado cuando huía de su hermano.

And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

8 D ébora, nodriza de Rebeca, murió y fue sepultada al pie de Betel, debajo de la encina. Esta fue llamada Alón Bacut (Encina del Llanto). Dios Bendice a Jacob

But Deborah Rebekah’s nurse died, and she was buried beneath Beth-el under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bachuth.

9 C uando Jacob volvió de Padán Aram Dios se le apareció de nuevo, y lo bendijo.

And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan-aram, and blessed him.

10 Y Dios le dijo: “Tu nombre es Jacob; No te llamarás más Jacob, Sino que tu nombre será Israel.” Y le puso el nombre de Israel.

And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.

11 T ambién le dijo Dios: “Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Sé fecundo y multiplícate; Una nación y multitud de naciones vendrán de ti, Y reyes saldrán de tus entrañas.

And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;

12 L a tierra que les di a Abraham y a Isaac, Te la daré a ti Y a tu descendencia después de ti.”

and the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.

13 E ntonces Dios se alejó de su lado, del lugar donde había hablado con él.

And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.

14 J acob erigió un pilar en el lugar donde Dios había hablado con él, un pilar de piedra, y derramó sobre él una libación; también derramó sobre él aceite.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.

15 Y Jacob le puso el nombre de Betel (Casa de Dios) al lugar donde Dios había hablado con él. Nacimiento de Benjamín

And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Beth-el.

16 E ntonces salieron de Betel; y cuando aún faltaba cierta distancia para llegar a Efrata, Raquel comenzó a dar a luz y tuvo mucha dificultad en su parto.

And they journeyed from Beth-el; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.

17 C uando ella estaba en lo más duro del parto, la partera le dijo: “No temas, porque ahora tienes este otro hijo.”

And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.

18 Y cuando su alma partía, (pues murió), lo llamó Benoni (Hijo de mi Tristeza); pero su padre lo llamó Benjamín (Hijo de la Diestra).

And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin.

19 M urió Raquel, y fue sepultada en el camino de Efrata, es decir, Belén (Casa del Pan).

And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Beth-lehem.

20 Y Jacob erigió un pilar sobre su sepultura; ése es el pilar de la sepultura de Raquel hasta hoy.

And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel’s grave unto this day.

21 E ntonces Israel salió y plantó su tienda más allá de Migdal Eder (Torre del Rebaño). Los Doce Hijos de Jacob

And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.

22 Y mientras Israel moraba en aquella tierra, Rubén fue y se acostó con Bilha, concubina de su padre; e Israel lo supo. Y los hijos de Jacob fueron doce.

And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

23 H ijos de Lea: Rubén, el primogénito de Jacob, después Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar y Zabulón.

the sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:

24 H ijos de Raquel: José y Benjamín.

the sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:

25 H ijos de Bilha, sierva de Raquel: Dan y Neftalí.

And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:

26 H ijos de Zilpa, sierva de Lea: Gad y Aser. Estos son los hijos de Jacob que le nacieron en Padán Aram. Muerte de Isaac

and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan-aram.

27 J acob fue a su padre Isaac en Mamre de Quiriat Arba, es decir, Hebrón, donde habían residido Abraham e Isaac.

And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.

28 I saac vivió 180 años.

And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.

29 Y expiró Isaac. Murió y fue reunido a su pueblo, anciano y lleno de días. Sus hijos Esaú y Jacob lo sepultaron.

And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
