1 T eritoriul seminţiei urmaşilor lui Iuda, potrivit clanurilor lor, se întindea spre hotarul Edomului în sud, spre marginea de sud a pustiei Ţin.

This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.

2 H otarul lor de sud pornea de la marginea Mării Sărate, de la golful din sud,

And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:

3 c ontinua prin sudul Înălţimii Scorpionului, traversa pustia Ţin şi urca la sud de Kadeş-Barnea, după care traversa Heţronul şi urca spre Adar, întorcându-se pe la Karka.

and it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:

4 T raversa apoi Aţmon, atingea Râul Egiptului şi ieşea la marginea mării. Acesta era hotarul lor de sud.

from thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.

5 H otarul de răsărit era Marea Sărată până la gura de vărsare a Iordanului. Hotarul de nord pornea de la gura de vărsare a Iordanului în Marea Sărată,

And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:

6 u rca către Bet-Hogla, traversa pe la nord de Bet-Araba, trecea pe la Piatra lui Bohan, fiul lui Ruben,

and the border went up to Beth-hogla, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:

7 u rca către Debir prin valea Acor, se întorcea către nord înspre Ghilgal, în dreptul Înălţimii Adumim, care era la sud de ued, trecea apoi pe la apele En-Şemeşului şi ieşea la En-Roghel.

and the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of En-shemesh, and the goings out thereof were at En-rogel:

8 U rca prin valea Ben-Hinom, la marginea de sud a Iebusului (Ierusalimul), urca înspre vârful muntelui care era în partea de apus a văii Hinom, la marginea de nord a văii Refaim.

and the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

9 A poi, din vârful muntelui, hotarul se întindea către izvorul apelor Neftoahului, atingea cetăţile muntelui Efron şi continua până la Baala (Chiriat-Iearim).

and the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim:

10 D in Baala se întorcea către apus înspre muntele Seir, trecea peste versantul nordic al muntelui Iearim (Chesalon), cobora pe la Bet-Şemeş, trecea prin Timna

and the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah:

11 ş i peste versantul nordic al Ekronului, continua către Şikron, traversa muntele Baala, atingea Iabneelul şi ajungea la mare.

and the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

12 H otarul de apus era ţărmul Mării celei Mari. Acesta era hotarul urmaşilor lui Iuda, de jur împrejur, potrivit clanurilor lor. Cetăţile descendenţilor lui Iuda

And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

13 L ui Caleb, fiul lui Iefune, i s-a dat un teritoriu care era în mijlocul urmaşilor lui Iuda, potrivit celor spuse de Domnul lui Iosua, şi anume Chiriat-Arba (Hebron), – Arba fusese tatăl lui Anac.

And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

14 C aleb i-a izgonit de acolo pe cei trei urmaşi ai lui Anac: pe Şeşai, pe Ahiman şi pe Talmai, urmaşii lui Anac.

And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

15 D e acolo a pornit împotriva locuitorilor Debirului (înainte Debirul purta numele de Chiriat-Sefer).

And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.

16 C aleb a zis: „Aceluia care va ataca şi va cuceri Chiriat-Seferul îi voi da de soţie pe fiica mea Acsa!“

And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

17 O tniel, fiul lui Chenaz, fratele lui Caleb, a cucerit cetatea, iar Caleb i-a dat-o de soţie pe fiica lui, Acsa.

And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

18 O dată, venind la Otniel, Acsa l-a îndemnat să-i ceară tatălui ei un teren. Când ea s-a dat jos de pe măgar, Caleb a întrebat-o: – Ce doreşti?

And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

19 – Dă-mi o binecuvântare adevărată, i-a răspuns ea, deoarece mi-ai dat un teritoriu în Neghev. Dăruieşte-mi şi izvoare de ape. Şi astfel, Caleb i-a dat izvoarele de sus şi izvoarele de jos.

Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

20 I ată care este moştenirea seminţiei urmaşilor lui Iuda, potrivit clanurilor lor:

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

21 c etăţile care erau în Neghev, la marginea teritoriului seminţiei lui Iuda, înspre hotarul Edomului: Kabţeel, Eder, Iagur,

And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

22 C hina, Dimona, Adada,

and Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

23 K edeş, Haţor, Itnan,

and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

24 Z if, Telem, Bealot,

Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

25 H aţor-Hadata, Cheriot-Heţron (Haţor),

and Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor,

26 A mam, Şema, Molada,

Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,

27 H aţar-Gada, Heşmon, Bet-Pelet,

and Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-palet,

28 H aţar-Şual, Beer-Şeba, Biziotia,

and Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities are twenty and nine, with their villages:

And in the valley, Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,

34 Z anoah, En-Ganim, Tapuah, Enam,

and Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

35 I armut, Adulam, Soco, Azeka,

Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

36 Ş aarayim, Aditayim, Ghedera şi Ghederotayim – paisprezece cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

and Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages:

37 Ţ enan, Hadaşa, Migdal-Gad,

Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,

38 D ilan, Miţpa, Iokteel,

and Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,

39 L achiş, Boţkat, Eglon,

Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,

40 K abon, Lahmas, Chitliş,

and Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,

41 G hederot, Bet-Dagon, Naama şi Makkeda – şaisprezece cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

and Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages:

44 C heila, Aczib, Mareşa – nouă cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

and Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages:

45 E kron cu cetăţile şi satele dimprejurul lor,

Ekron, with her towns and her villages:

46 d e la Ekron înspre mare, toate aşezările din apropierea Aşdodului şi satele dimprejurul lor,

from Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:

47 A şdod cu cetăţile şi satele dimprejurul lor, Gaza cu cetăţile şi satele dimprejurul lor, până la Râul Egiptului şi până la ţărmul Mării celei Mari;

Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:

48 c etăţile care erau în regiunea muntoasă: Şamir, Iatir, Soco,

And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,

49 D ana, Chiriat-Sana (Debir),

and Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, which is Debir,

50 A nab, Eştemo, Anim,

and Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,

51 G oşen, Holon şi Ghilo – unsprezece cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

and Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages:

52 A rab, Duma, Eşan,

Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean,

53 I anim, Bet-Tapuah, Afeka

and Janum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,

54 H umta, Chiriat-Arba (adică Hebronul) şi Ţior – nouă cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

and Humtah, and Kirjath-arba, which is Hebron, and Zior; nine cities with their villages:

55 M aon, Carmel, Zif, Iuta,

Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Juttah,

56 I zreel, Iokdeam, Zanoah,

and Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,

57 K ayin, Ghiva şi Timna – zece cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages:

58 H alhul, Bet-Ţur, Ghedor,

Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,

59 M aarat, Bet-Anot şi Eltekon – şase cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

and Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages:

60 C hiriat-Baal (adică Chiriat-Iearim) şi Raba – două cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor;

Kirjath-baal, which is Kirjath-jearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:

61 c etăţile care erau în pustie: Bet-Araba, Midin, Sehaha,

In the wilderness, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

62 N ibşan, Ir-Hammelah şi En-Ghedi – şase cetăţi cu satele dimprejurul lor.

and Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and En-gedi; six cities with their villages.

63 U rmaşii lui Iuda nu i-au putut izgoni pe iebusiţii care locuiau în Ierusalim şi, prin urmare, iebusiţii au locuit la Ierusalim împreună cu urmaşii lui Iuda, până în ziua de azi.

As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
