1 A şadar, întrucât Cristos a suferit în trup, înarmaţi-vă şi voi cu acelaşi fel de gândire, căci cel ce a suferit în trup a sfârşit-o cu păcatul,

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

2 p entru ca, în vremea care-i mai rămâne de trăit în trup, să nu mai trăiască după poftele oamenilor, ci după voia lui Dumnezeu.

that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

3 A junge cât timp a trecut în care aţi lucrat după voia neamurilor, trăind în depravare, în pofte, în beţii, în petreceri, în orgii şi în idolatrii dezgustătoare.

For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4 D e aceea sunt surprinşi ei că nu alergaţi împreună cu ei la acelaşi potop de destrăbălare şi vă batjocoresc.

wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

5 E i vor da socoteală Celui Ce este gata să-i judece pe cei vii şi pe cei morţi.

who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6 C ăci pentru aceasta le-a fost vestită Evanghelia şi celor ce acum sunt morţi: ca şi ei să fie judecaţi ca oameni, în trup, dar să trăiască potrivit lui Dumnezeu, în duh.

For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7 S fârşitul tuturor lucrurilor este aproape. Fiţi deci cu mintea limpede şi disciplinaţi-vă în vederea rugăciunii!

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

8 Î nainte de toate, să aveţi o dragoste fierbinte unii pentru alţii, pentru că dragostea acoperă o mulţime de păcate!

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

9 F iţi ospitalieri unii cu alţii, fără cârtire!

Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10 C a nişte buni administratori ai harului felurit al lui Dumnezeu, fiecare să slujească pe alţii potrivit cu darul pe care l-a primit!

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 D acă cineva vorbeşte, să vorbească cuvintele lui Dumnezeu! Dacă cineva slujeşte, să slujească după puterea pe care o dă Dumnezeu, pentru ca Dumnezeu să fie slăvit în toate, prin Isus Cristos, a Căruia este slava şi puterea, în vecii vecilor! Amin. Suferind pentru Cristos

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12 P reaiubiţilor, nu fiţi surprinşi de încercarea de foc care are loc în mijlocul vostru, ca şi cum vi s-ar întâmpla ceva ciudat,

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 c i, în măsura în care aveţi parte de suferinţele lui Cristos, bucuraţi-vă, pentru ca şi la descoperirea slavei Lui să vă bucuraţi nespus de mult.

but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14 D acă sunteţi insultaţi din pricina Numelui lui Cristos, ferice de voi, pentru că Duhul slavei şi al lui Dumnezeu se odihneşte peste voi.

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

15 N imeni dintre voi să nu sufere ca ucigaş, hoţ, răufăcător sau ca unul care se amestecă în treburile altora.

But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.

16 Î nsă dacă vreunul din voi suferă din pricină că este creştin, să nu-i fie ruşine, ci să-L slăvească pe Dumnezeu pentru numele acesta.

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17 C ăci este timpul să înceapă judecata chiar de la Casa lui Dumnezeu. Şi dacă începe cu noi, care va fi sfârşitul celor ce nu ascultă de Evanghelia lui Dumnezeu?!

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18 Ş i dacă cel drept este salvat cu greu, ce se va face cel lipsit de evlavie şi păcătos?!

And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 A şa că cei ce suferă după voia lui Dumnezeu să-şi încredinţeze sufletele credinciosului Creator, făcând în continuare binele!

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
