1 A u ajuns de cealaltă parte a mării, în ţinutul gherasenilor.

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

2 C ând a coborât Isus din barcă, L-a întâlnit imediat un om care ieşea din morminte şi care era stăpânit de un duh necurat.

And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

3 O mul acesta îşi avea locuinţa în morminte şi nimeni nu mai putea să-l ţină legat nici chiar cu un lanţ.

who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

4 F usese de multe ori legat cu lanţuri şi cu cătuşe, dar rupsese lanţurile şi sfărâmase cătuşele şi nimeni nu-l putea stăpâni.

because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5 T oată noaptea şi toată ziua era prin morminte sau prin munţi, urlând şi tăindu-se cu pietre.

And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 C ând L-a văzut pe Isus de departe, a alergat, I s-a închinat

But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

7 ş i a strigat cu glas tare: – Ce am eu de-a face cu Tine, Isuse, Fiu al Dumnezeului cel Preaînalt? Jură-mi pe Dumnezeu că nu mă vei chinui!

and cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

8 C ăci Isus îi zicea: „Duh necurat, ieşi afară din acest om!“

For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

9 I sus l-a întrebat: – Care-ţi este numele? – Numele meu este „Legiune“, pentru că suntem mulţi, I-a răspuns el.

And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

10 Ş i Îl ruga mult pe Isus să nu-l trimită afară din ţinutul acela.

And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 A colo, pe munte, era o turmă mare de porci care păşteau.

Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

12 D uhurile necurate L-au rugat pe Isus: – Trimite-ne în porcii aceia, ca să intrăm în ei!

And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 Ş i El le-a dat voie. Duhurile necurate au ieşit din om şi au intrat în porci. Atunci turma, în jur de două mii de porci, s-a repezit pe râpă în jos, în mare, şi s-a înecat în mare.

And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

14 P orcarii au fugit şi au dat de ştire în cetate şi în cătune. Şi oamenii au venit să vadă ce s-a întâmplat.

And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

15 C ând au ajuns la Isus şi l-au văzut pe cel care fusese demoniac şi avusese în el legiunea de duhuri necurate, stând jos, îmbrăcat şi cu mintea întreagă, s-au înspăimântat.

And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

16 C ei ce văzuseră ce s-a întâmplat cu cel demoniac şi cu porcii le-au povestit totul.

And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

17 A tunci ei au început să-L roage pe Isus să plece din regiunea lor.

And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

18 Î n timp ce Isus se suia în barcă, cel ce fusese demoniac Îl ruga să-l lase să rămână cu El,

And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

19 d ar Isus nu l-a lăsat, ci i-a zis: „Du-te acasă, la ai tăi, şi povesteşte-le cât de mult a făcut Domnul pentru tine şi cum a avut milă de tine!“

Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

20 E l a plecat şi a început să vestească prin Decapolis cât de mult făcuse Isus pentru el. Şi toţi se minunau. Vindecarea unei femei şi învierea unei fetiţe

And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

21 I sus a traversat iarăşi marea (cu barca). Apoi, în timp ce era pe malul mării, s-a adunat la El o mare mulţime de oameni.

And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

22 A venit la El unul dintre conducătorii sinagogii, pe nume Iair. Când L-a văzut, a căzut la picioarele Lui

And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

23 ş i L-a rugat fierbinte: „Fetiţa mea este pe moarte. Vino şi pune-Ţi mâinile peste ea ca să fie vindecată şi să trăiască!“

and besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

24 I sus a plecat împreună cu el. O mare mulţime de oameni Îl urma şi se îmbulzea în El.

And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

25 A colo era o femeie care, de doisprezece ani, avea o scurgere de sânge.

And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

26 E a îndurase multe din partea multor doctori şi cheltuise tot ce avusese fără vreun folos, ba dimpotrivă, se îmbolnăvise mai rău.

and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

27 A uzind despre Isus, a venit în mulţime, prin spate, şi s-a atins de haina Lui.

when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

28 C ăci îşi zicea: „Dacă aş putea să mă ating măcar de haina Lui, voi fi vindecată!“

For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

29 I mediat izvorul sângelui ei a secat şi ea a simţit în trup că fusese vindecată de boala ei.

And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

30 I sus şi-a dat seama imediat că din El ieşise o putere şi, întorcându-Se spre mulţime, a întrebat: – Cine s-a atins de hainele Mele?

And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

31 U cenicii I-au zis: – Vezi că mulţimea se îmbulzeşte în Tine şi mai întrebi: „Cine M-a atins?“

And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

32 E l însă se uita de jur-împrejur ca s-o vadă pe cea care făcuse lucrul acesta.

And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

33 A tunci femeia, ştiind ce i se întâmplase, a venit înfricoşată şi tremurând, şi a căzut înaintea Lui, spunându-I tot adevărul.

But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

34 I sus i-a zis: „Fiică, credinţa ta te-a vindecat! Du-te în pace şi fii vindecată de boala ta!“

And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

35 Î n timp ce El vorbea, au venit câţiva din casa conducătorului sinagogii şi i-au zis acestuia: „Fiica ta este moartă. De ce-L mai deranjezi pe Învăţător?“

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

36 Î nsă Isus, fără să ia în seamă cuvintele lor, i-a zis conducătorului sinagogii: „Nu te teme! Crede doar!“

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

37 N -a dat voie nimănui să-L însoţească în afară de Petru, Iacov şi Ioan, fratele lui Iacov.

And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

38 C ând au ajuns ei la casa conducătorului sinagogii, Isus a văzut acolo multă larmă şi pe cei ce plângeau şi boceau zgomotos.

And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

39 E l a intrat şi le-a zis: „De ce faceţi atâta larmă şi plângeţi? Copilul nu este mort, ci doarme!“

And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

40 E i însă râdeau de El. Isus i-a scos pe toţi afară, i-a luat pe tatăl copilului, pe mama acestuia şi pe cei ce erau cu El şi a intrat acolo unde era copilul.

And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

41 A apucat copilul de mână şi i-a zis: „ Talita kum!“, care tradus înseamnă: „Fetiţo, ţie îţi zic, scoală-te!“

And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

42 F etiţa s-a ridicat imediat şi a început să meargă; ea era în vârstă de doisprezece ani. Atunci ei au înmărmurit de tot.

And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

43 I sus le-a poruncit insistent ca nimeni să nu ştie despre aceasta şi le-a spus să-i dea fetiţei ceva să mănânce.

And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
