1 C ând a văzut Isus mulţimile, a urcat pe munte şi S-a aşezat jos. Ucenicii Săi au venit la El,

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 i ar El a început să vorbească şi să-i înveţe astfel:

and he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 „ Ferice de cei săraci în duh, căci a lor este Împărăţia Cerurilor!

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 F erice de cei îndureraţi, căci ei vor fi mângâiaţi!

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 F erice de cei blânzi, căci ei vor moşteni pământul!

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 F erice de cei flămânzi şi însetaţi după dreptate, căci ei vor fi săturaţi!

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 F erice de cei milostivi, căci ei vor avea parte de milă!

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 F erice de cei cu inima curată, căci ei Îl vor vedea pe Dumnezeu!

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 F erice de cei împăciuitori, căci ei vor fi numiţi fii ai lui Dumnezeu!

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 F erice de cei persecutaţi din pricina dreptăţii, căci a lor este Împărăţia Cerurilor!

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 F erice de voi când oamenii vă insultă, vă persecută şi spun tot felul de lucruri rele, (minţind) împotriva voastră, din pricina Mea!

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 B ucuraţi-vă şi veseliţi-vă, pentru că răsplata voastră este mare în ceruri! Căci tot aşa i-au persecutat şi pe profeţii dinaintea voastră! Sarea pământului şi lumina lumii

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 V oi sunteţi sarea pământului. Dar dacă sarea îşi pierde gustul, prin ce va fi făcută din nou sărată?! Nu mai este bună la nimic, decât să fie aruncată afară şi călcată în picioare de oameni.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 V oi sunteţi lumina lumii. O cetate aşezată pe un munte nu poate să rămână ascunsă.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Ş i nimeni nu aprinde un felinar ca să-l pună sub un oboroc, ci îl pune pe un suport şi astfel el luminează tuturor celor din casă.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 T ot aşa să lumineze şi lumina voastră înaintea oamenilor, ca ei să vadă faptele voastre bune şi să-L slăvească pe Tatăl vostru, Care este în ceruri. Isus şi împlinirea Legii

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 S ă nu credeţi că am venit să anulez Legea sau Profeţii! Nu am venit să anulez, ci să împlinesc.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 C ăci adevărat vă spun că, atâta vreme cât nu vor trece cerul şi pământul, nici măcar o iotă sau o parte a vreunei litere nu va fi înlăturată din Lege, înainte să se întâmple toate lucrurile.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 A şa că oricine încalcă una din cele mai mici din aceste porunci şi îi învaţă şi pe alţii să facă la fel va fi numit cel mai mic în Împărăţia Cerurilor. Dar oricine le împlineşte şi îi învaţă şi pe alţii să facă la fel va fi numit mare în Împărăţia Cerurilor.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 C ăci vă spun că, dacă dreptatea voastră nu o întrece pe cea a cărturarilor şi a fariseilor, cu nici un chip nu veţi intra în Împărăţia Cerurilor. Despre mânie şi ucidere

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 A ţi auzit că li s-a zis celor din vechime: «Să nu ucizi! Oricine ucide va cădea sub pedeapsa judecăţii».

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 D ar Eu vă spun că oricine se mânie pe fratele său va cădea sub pedeapsa judecăţii şi oricine îi va zice fratelui său: «Prostule! » va cădea sub pedeapsa Sinedriului; iar cel ce-i va zice: «Nebunule!» va cădea sub pedeapsa focului Gheenei.

but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 A şa că, dacă îţi aduci darul la altar şi acolo îţi aminteşti că fratele tău are ceva împotriva ta,

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 l asă-ţi darul acolo, înaintea altarului, şi du-te mai întâi să te împaci cu fratele tău. Apoi vino şi adu-ţi darul.

leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 C aută să te împaci cât mai repede cu acuzatorul tău, câtă vreme eşti cu el pe drum, ca nu cumva acuzatorul tău să te dea pe mâna judecătorului, judecătorul să te dea pe mâna temnicerului şi să fii aruncat în închisoare!

Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 A devărat îţi spun că nu vei ieşi de acolo până când nu vei fi plătit şi ultimul codrantes! Despre adulter şi divorţ

Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 A ţi auzit că s-a zis: «Să nu comiţi adulter!».

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 D ar Eu vă spun că oricine se uită cu poftă la o femeie a şi comis adulter cu ea în inima lui.

but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 D eci, dacă ochiul tău cel drept te face să păcătuieşti, scoate-l afară şi aruncă-l, căci este spre folosul tău să-ţi pierzi unul din mădulare, decât să-ţi fie aruncat în Gheenă tot trupul.

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 I ar dacă mâna ta cea dreaptă te face să păcătuieşti, taie-o şi arunc-o, căci este spre folosul tău să-ţi pierzi unul din mădulare, decât să-ţi meargă în Gheenă tot trupul.

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 S -a mai zis: «Oricine divorţează de soţia lui să-i dea o carte de despărţire».

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 D ar Eu vă spun că oricine divorţează de soţia lui, în afară de cazul în care este vorba de imoralitate, o împinge să comită adulter, iar cel ce se căsătoreşte cu o femeie divorţată comite şi el adulter. Despre jurăminte

but I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33 D in nou, aţi auzit că li s-a zis celor din vechime: «Să nu juri fals, ci să împlineşti faţă de Domnul jurămintele tale».

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 D ar Eu vă spun să nu juraţi deloc: nici pe cer, pentru că este tronul lui Dumnezeu;

but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:

35 n ici pe pământ, pentru că este aşternutul picioarelor Lui; nici pe Ierusalim, pentru că este cetatea marelui Împărat;

nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 s ă nu juri nici măcar pe capul tău, pentru că nu poţi face nici măcar un fir de păr alb sau negru.

Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 V orbirea voastră să fie astfel: «Da» să fie «Da» şi «Nu» să fie «Nu». Ce trece peste aceste cuvinte vine de la cel rău. Despre răzbunare

But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 A ţi auzit că s-a zis: «Ochi pentru ochi şi dinte pentru dinte».

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 D ar Eu vă spun să nu vă împotriviţi celui ce vă face rău. Ci aceluia care te loveşte peste obrazul drept, întoarce-i-l şi pe celălalt.

but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 C elui ce vrea să te dea în judecată şi să-ţi ia tunica, lasă-i şi haina,

And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

41 i ar dacă cineva te obligă să mergi cu el o milă, mergi cu el două mile.

And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 C elui ce-ţi cere, dă-i, iar pe cel ce vrea să se împrumute de la tine să nu-l refuzi. Iubirea duşmanilor

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 A ţi auzit că s-a zis: «Să-l iubeşti pe semenul tău şi să-l urăşti pe duşmanul tău».

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 D ar Eu vă spun: iubiţi-vă duşmanii şi rugaţi-vă pentru cei ce vă persecută,

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 c a să fiţi astfel fii ai Tatălui vostru, Care este în ceruri! Căci El face să răsară soarele Lui şi peste cei răi, şi peste cei buni şi trimite ploaie şi peste cei drepţi, şi peste cei nedrepţi.

that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 D acă-i iubiţi doar pe cei ce vă iubesc, ce răsplată veţi avea? Oare colectorii de taxe nu fac la fel?

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 Ş i dacă vă întâmpinaţi cu dragoste doar fraţii, ce lucru neobişnuit faceţi? Oare neamurile nu fac la fel?

And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 F iţi deci desăvârşiţi, aşa cum şi Tatăl vostru cel ceresc este desăvârşit!

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
