1 C uvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,

2 „ Fiul omului, au fost odată două femei, fiice ale aceleiaşi mame.

Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:

3 E le s-au prostituat în Egipt, s-au prostituat încă din tinereţea lor. Acolo le-au fost strânşi sânii şi acolo le-a fost mângâiat pieptul feciorelnic.

and they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.

4 C ea mare se numea Ohola, iar sora ei se numea Oholiba. Ele erau ale Mele şi au născut fii şi fiice. Ohola înfăţişează Samaria, iar Oholiba înfăţişează Ierusalimul.

And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.

5 D eşi era a Mea, Ohola s-a prostituat şi a poftit după amanţii ei, războinicii din Asiria,

And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours,

6 î mbrăcaţi în haine de culoare albastră, guvernatori şi conducători, tineri plăcuţi, toţi călare pe cai.

which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses.

7 E a s-a dedat la desfrânări cu ei, cu toţi fiii aleşi ai Asiriei, şi s-a pângărit cu toţi idolii fiecăruia din cei pe care i-a poftit.

Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.

8 Ş i astfel ea nu a renunţat la desfrânările ei din Egipt, nici la cei ce se culcaseră cu ea în tinereţea ei, care îi atinseseră pieptul feciorelnic şi îşi revărsaseră desfrâul asupra ei.

Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.

9 D e aceea am dat-o în mâinile amanţilor ei, în mâinile asirienilor pe care i-a poftit.

Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.

10 A ceştia i-au descoperit goliciunea, i-au luat fiii şi fiicele, iar pe ea au ucis-o cu sabia. Şi astfel i s-a dus vestea printre femei din cauza judecăţilor care au fost aduse asupra ei.

These discovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her.

11 D eşi sora ei, Oholiba, a văzut toate acestea, ea totuşi, în pofta ei, s-a stricat şi mai mult, desfrânările ei întrecând desfrânările surorii ei.

And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms.

12 Ş i ea a poftit după fiii Asiriei, acei guvernatori şi conducători îmbrăcaţi strălucitor şi călare pe cai, cu toţii tineri plăcuţi.

She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.

13 A m văzut astfel că şi ea se pângărise; amândouă aleseseră aceeaşi cale.

Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way,

14 B a încă ea a adăugat şi mai mult la desfrânările ei. A văzut nişte bărbaţi gravaţi pe zid, nişte chipuri de caldeeni pictaţi în roşu,

and that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion,

15 c u brâie împrejurul coapselor lor şi cu turbane voluminoase pe cap, cu toţii având înfăţişarea unor ofiţeri – era o imagine a babilonienilor, a căror ţară de origine este Caldeea.

girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity:

16 D e îndată ce i-a văzut, i-a şi poftit şi a trimis soli la ei, în Caldeea.

and as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

17 B abilonienii au venit la ea, în patul iubirii, şi au spurcat-o cu desfrânările lor. După ce s-a spurcat cu ei, sufletul i s-a înstrăinat de ei.

And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them.

18 C ând şi-a dat pe faţă desfrânările şi şi-a expus goliciunea, sufletul Meu s-a înstrăinat de ea, aşa cum s-a înstrăinat şi de sora ei.

So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister.

19 A poi ea şi-a înmulţit şi mai mult desfrânările, aducându-şi aminte de tinereţea ei când se prostitua în ţara Egiptului.

Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

20 A poftit după amanţii ei cu mădularele cât ale măgarilor şi cu multă sămânţă precum caii.

For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

21 « Ai tânjit astfel după desfrânarea din tinereţea ta, când sânii ţi-au fost mângâiaţi de către egipteni, iar pieptul tău cel tânăr a fost dezmierdat.

Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth.

22 D e aceea, Oholiba, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Îi voi stârni pe amanţii tăi împotriva ta, pe cei de care ţi s-a înstrăinat sufletul, şi-i voi aduce împotriva ta din toate părţile.

Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side;

23 Î i voi aduce pe babilonieni şi pe toţi caldeenii, pe cei din Pekod, din Şoa şi din Koa, împreună cu toţi asirienii, tineri plăcuţi, toţi guvernatori şi conducători, ofiţeri şi oameni vestiţi, toţi călare pe cai.

the Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.

24 E i vor veni împotriva ta cu arme, cu care şi căruţe şi cu o mulţime de popoare. Te vor înconjura din toate părţile cu scuturi, mari şi mici, şi cu coifuri. Lor le voi da judecata asupra ta, iar ei te vor judeca după rânduielile lor.

And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.

25 Î mi voi îndrepta gelozia împotriva ta, astfel că ei se vor purta cu furie faţă de tine. Nasul şi urechile îţi vor fi tăiate, iar rămăşiţa familiei tale va cădea ucisă de sabie. Îţi vor lua fiii şi fiicele, iar ce va mai rămâne va fi devorat de foc.

And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.

26 T e vor dezbrăca de hainele tale şi îţi vor lua minunatele tale podoabe.

They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.

27 V oi pune capăt astfel desfrânării tale şi dezmăţului pe care l-ai practicat încă din ţara Egiptului. Şi nu-ţi vor mai umbla ochii după amanţii tăi, nici nu te vei mai gândi la Egipt!’

Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.

28 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Iată, te voi da pe mâna celor pe care îi urăşti, pe mâna celor de care ţi s-a înstrăinat sufletul!

For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated:

29 T e vor trata cu ură, îţi vor lua toată avuţia şi te vor lăsa dezbrăcată şi goală. Va fi expusă astfel ruşinea desfrânărilor tale, a infidelităţii tale şi a dezmăţurilor tale.

and they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

30 T oate acestea ţi se vor întâmpla pentru că te-ai prostituat cu neamurile şi te-ai spurcat cu idolii lor.

I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.

31 A i apucat pe calea surorii tale, de aceea îţi voi pune în mână cupa ei.’

Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand.

32 A şa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Vei bea din cupa surorii tale, o cupă adâncă şi largă; care îţi va aduce derâdere şi batjocură, căci încape atât de mult în ea!

Thus saith the Lord God; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much.

33 V ei fi umplută de beţie şi întristare, căci cupa surorii tale, Samaria, este o cupă a groazei şi a pustiirii.

Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.

34 V ei bea din ea şi o vei goli; apoi o vei sparge în bucăţi şi îţi vei cresta sânii’, căci Eu am vorbit, zice Stăpânul Domn. »

Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.

35 D e aceea, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Pentru că M-ai uitat şi M-ai aruncat la spate, poartă-ţi şi tu acum pedeapsa pentru infidelitatea şi desfrânările tale!»“

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

36 D omnul mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, vrei să le judeci pe Ohola şi pe Oholiba? Atunci fă-le cunoscute urâciunile lor!

The Lord said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;

37 C ăci ele au comis adulter şi pe mâinile lor este sânge; au comis adulter cu idolii lor, iar pe fiii pe care Mi i-au născut i-au trecut prin foc ca să slujească drept mâncare idolilor lor.

that they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.

38 M i-au făcut chiar mai mult decât atât: în aceeaşi zi ei Mi-au spurcat Lăcaşul şi Mi-au pângărit Sabatele.

Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.

39 C ăci atunci când şi-au înjunghiat fiii în cinstea idolilor lor, în aceeaşi zi ei au intrat şi în Lăcaşul Meu ca să-l pângărească. Iată ce au făcut în Casa Mea!

For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.

40 B a mai mult, au trimis după bărbaţi să vină de departe, le-au trimis soli şi iată că ei au venit. Pentru ei te-ai îmbăiat tu, ţi-ai vopsit ochii şi te-ai gătit cu podoabe!

And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,

41 T e-ai aşezat pe un pat somptuos, ai pregătit o masă înaintea lui şi ai pus pe el tămâia şi uleiul Meu.

and satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.

42 Î n jurul ei se auzea zgomotul unei mulţimi petrecăreţe; bărbaţi de rând şi nişte sabeeni au fost aduşi din pustie, iar aceştia le-au pus brăţări pe mâini şi coroană cu pietre scumpe pe cap.

And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

43 M i-am zis despre femeia aceasta veştejită de atâta prostituţie: «Să se prostitueze cu ea, că doar asta şi este!»

Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?

44 E i au venit la ea cum se vine la o prostituată; aşa au venit la Ohola şi la Oholiba, femeile acestea stricate.

Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.

45 B ărbaţii drepţi însă le vor judeca sub acuzaţia de adulter şi de vărsare de sânge, căci sunt adultere şi pe mâinile lor este sânge.“

And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.

46 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: „Să se aducă o mulţime împotriva lor şi să fie încredinţate terorii şi jafului.

For thus saith the Lord God; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled.

47 M ulţimea le va ucide cu pietre şi le va tăia cu săbiile. Apoi le va omorî fiii şi fiicele şi le va da foc la case.

And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

48 V oi pune astfel capăt infidelităţii din ţară, ca toate femeile să fie avertizate şi să nu se ia după infidelitatea voastră.

Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.

49 I nfidelitatea voastră se va întoarce împotriva voastră şi veţi purta pedeapsa pentru păcatele săvârşite cu idolii voştri. Atunci veţi şti că Eu sunt Stăpânul Domn. “

And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord God.
