1 T herefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

Aşadar, întrucât Cristos a suferit în trup, înarmaţi-vă şi voi cu acelaşi fel de gândire, căci cel ce a suferit în trup a sfârşit-o cu păcatul,

2 s o as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

pentru ca, în vremea care-i mai rămâne de trăit în trup, să nu mai trăiască după poftele oamenilor, ci după voia lui Dumnezeu.

3 F or the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.

Ajunge cât timp a trecut în care aţi lucrat după voia neamurilor, trăind în depravare, în pofte, în beţii, în petreceri, în orgii şi în idolatrii dezgustătoare.

4 I n all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you;

De aceea sunt surprinşi ei că nu alergaţi împreună cu ei la acelaşi potop de destrăbălare şi vă batjocoresc.

5 b ut they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

Ei vor da socoteală Celui Ce este gata să-i judece pe cei vii şi pe cei morţi.

6 F or the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

Căci pentru aceasta le-a fost vestită Evanghelia şi celor ce acum sunt morţi: ca şi ei să fie judecaţi ca oameni, în trup, dar să trăiască potrivit lui Dumnezeu, în duh.

7 T he end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.

Sfârşitul tuturor lucrurilor este aproape. Fiţi deci cu mintea limpede şi disciplinaţi-vă în vederea rugăciunii!

8 A bove all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

Înainte de toate, să aveţi o dragoste fierbinte unii pentru alţii, pentru că dragostea acoperă o mulţime de păcate!

9 B e hospitable to one another without complaint.

Fiţi ospitalieri unii cu alţii, fără cârtire!

10 A s each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Ca nişte buni administratori ai harului felurit al lui Dumnezeu, fiecare să slujească pe alţii potrivit cu darul pe care l-a primit!

11 W hoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Dacă cineva vorbeşte, să vorbească cuvintele lui Dumnezeu! Dacă cineva slujeşte, să slujească după puterea pe care o dă Dumnezeu, pentru ca Dumnezeu să fie slăvit în toate, prin Isus Cristos, a Căruia este slava şi puterea, în vecii vecilor! Amin. Suferind pentru Cristos

12 B eloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;

Preaiubiţilor, nu fiţi surprinşi de încercarea de foc care are loc în mijlocul vostru, ca şi cum vi s-ar întâmpla ceva ciudat,

13 b ut to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.

ci, în măsura în care aveţi parte de suferinţele lui Cristos, bucuraţi-vă, pentru ca şi la descoperirea slavei Lui să vă bucuraţi nespus de mult.

14 I f you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Dacă sunteţi insultaţi din pricina Numelui lui Cristos, ferice de voi, pentru că Duhul slavei şi al lui Dumnezeu se odihneşte peste voi.

15 M ake sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;

Nimeni dintre voi să nu sufere ca ucigaş, hoţ, răufăcător sau ca unul care se amestecă în treburile altora.

16 b ut if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

Însă dacă vreunul din voi suferă din pricină că este creştin, să nu-i fie ruşine, ci să-L slăvească pe Dumnezeu pentru numele acesta.

17 F or it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Căci este timpul să înceapă judecata chiar de la Casa lui Dumnezeu. Şi dacă începe cu noi, care va fi sfârşitul celor ce nu ascultă de Evanghelia lui Dumnezeu?!

18 A nd if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner ?

Şi dacă cel drept este salvat cu greu, ce se va face cel lipsit de evlavie şi păcătos?!

19 T herefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.

Aşa că cei ce suferă după voia lui Dumnezeu să-şi încredinţeze sufletele credinciosului Creator, făcând în continuare binele!
