1 A nd it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

И когда окончил Иисус наставления двенадцати ученикам Своим, перешел оттуда учить и проповедывать в городах их.

2 N ow when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

Иоанн же, услышав в темнице о делах Христовых, послал двоих из учеников своих

3 A nd said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

сказать Ему: Ты ли Тот, Который должен придти, или ожидать нам другого?

4 J esus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

И сказал им Иисус в ответ: пойдите, скажите Иоанну, что слышите и видите:

5 T he blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

слепые прозревают и хромые ходят, прокаженные очищаются и глухие слышат, мертвые воскресают и нищие благовествуют;

6 A nd blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

и блажен, кто не соблазнится о Мне.

7 A nd as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

Когда же они пошли, Иисус начал говорить народу об Иоанне: что смотреть ходили вы в пустыню? трость ли, ветром колеблемую?

8 B ut what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

Что же смотреть ходили вы? человека ли, одетого в мягкие одежды? Носящие мягкие одежды находятся в чертогах царских.

9 B ut what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

Что же смотреть ходили вы? пророка? Да, говорю вам, и больше пророка.

10 F or this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

Ибо он тот, о котором написано: се, Я посылаю Ангела Моего пред лицем Твоим, который приготовит путь Твой пред Тобою.

11 V erily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Истинно говорю вам: из рожденных женами не восставал больший Иоанна Крестителя; но меньший в Царстве Небесном больше его.

12 A nd from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

От дней же Иоанна Крестителя доныне Царство Небесное силою берется, и употребляющие усилие восхищают его,

13 F or all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

ибо все пророки и закон прорекли до Иоанна.

14 A nd if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

И если хотите принять, он есть Илия, которому должно придти.

15 H e that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Кто имеет уши слышать, да слышит!

16 B ut whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

Но кому уподоблю род сей? Он подобен детям, которые сидят на улице и, обращаясь к своим товарищам,

17 A nd saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

говорят: мы играли вам на свирели, и вы не плясали; мы пели вам печальные песни, и вы не рыдали.

18 F or John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

Ибо пришел Иоанн, ни ест, ни пьет; и говорят: в нем бес.

19 T he Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Пришел Сын Человеческий, ест и пьет; и говорят: вот человек, который любит есть и пить вино, друг мытарям и грешникам. И оправдана премудрость чадами ее.

20 T hen began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

Тогда начал Он укорять города, в которых наиболее явлено было сил Его, за то, что они не покаялись:

21 W oe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

горе тебе, Хоразин! горе тебе, Вифсаида! ибо если бы в Тире и Сидоне явлены были силы, явленные в вас, то давно бы они во вретище и пепле покаялись,

22 B ut I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

но говорю вам: Тиру и Сидону отраднее будет в день суда, нежели вам.

23 A nd thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

И ты, Капернаум, до неба вознесшийся, до ада низвергнешься, ибо если бы в Содоме явлены были силы, явленные в тебе, то он оставался бы до сего дня;

24 B ut I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

но говорю вам, что земле Содомской отраднее будет в день суда, нежели тебе.

25 A t that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

В то время, продолжая речь, Иисус сказал: славлю Тебя, Отче, Господи неба и земли, что Ты утаил сие от мудрых и разумных и открыл то младенцам;

26 E ven so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

ей, Отче! ибо таково было Твое благоволение.

27 A ll things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Все предано Мне Отцем Моим, и никто не знает Сына, кроме Отца; и Отца не знает никто, кроме Сына, и кому Сын хочет открыть.

28 C ome unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Придите ко Мне все труждающиеся и обремененные, и Я успокою вас;

29 T ake my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

возьмите иго Мое на себя и научитесь от Меня, ибо Я кроток и смирен сердцем, и найдете покой душам вашим;

30 F or my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

ибо иго Мое благо, и бремя Мое легко.
