1 F or, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

«Poiché ecco, il giorno viene, ardente come una fornace; allora tutti i superbi e tutti i malfattori saranno come stoppia. Il giorno che viene li incendierà», dice il Signore degli eserciti, «e non lascerà loro né radice né ramo.

2 B ut unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

Ma per voi che avete timore del mio nome spunterà il sole della giustizia, la guarigione sarà nelle sue ali; voi uscirete e salterete, come vitelli fatti uscire dalla stalla.

3 A nd ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

Voi calpesterete gli empi, che saranno come cenere sotto la pianta dei vostri piedi, nel giorno che io preparo», dice il Signore degli eserciti.

4 R emember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

«Ricordatevi della legge di Mosè, mio servo, al quale io diedi sull’Oreb, leggi e precetti, per tutto Israele.

5 B ehold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:

Ecco, io vi mando il profeta Elia, prima che venga il giorno del Signore, giorno grande e terribile.

6 A nd he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Egli volgerà il cuore dei padri verso i figli, e il cuore dei figli verso i padri, perché io non debba venire a colpire il paese di sterminio».
