1 B lessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Di Davide. Cantico. Beato l’uomo a cui la trasgressione è perdonata e il cui peccato è coperto!

2 B lessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Beato l’uomo a cui il Signore non imputa l’iniquità e nel cui spirito non c’è inganno!

3 W hen I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

Finché ho taciuto, le mie ossa si consumavano tra i lamenti che facevo tutto il giorno.

4 F or day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

Poiché giorno e notte la tua mano si appesantiva su di me, il mio vigore inaridiva come per arsura d’estate.

5 I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Davanti a te ho ammesso il mio peccato, non ho taciuto la mia iniquità. Ho detto: «Confesserò le mie trasgressioni al Signore », e tu hai perdonato l’iniquità del mio peccato.

6 F or this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

Perciò ogni uomo pio t’invochi mentre puoi essere trovato; e qualora straripino le grandi acque, esse, per certo, non giungeranno fino a lui.

7 T hou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Tu sei il mio rifugio, tu mi proteggerai nelle avversità, tu mi circonderai di canti di liberazione.

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Io ti istruirò e ti insegnerò la via per la quale devi camminare; io ti consiglierò e avrò gli occhi su di te.

9 B e ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

Non siate come il cavallo e come il mulo, che non hanno intelletto, la cui bocca bisogna frenare con morso e con briglia, altrimenti non ti si avvicinano!

10 M any sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.

Molti dolori subirà l’empio; ma chi confida nel Signore sarà circondato dalla sua grazia.

11 B e glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Rallegratevi nel Signore ed esultate, o giusti! Gioite, voi tutti che siete retti di cuore!
