1 E n el año dieciocho del rey Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, Abiam comenzó a reinar sobre Judá,

Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah.

2 y reinó tres años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Maaca, hija de Abisalom.

He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.

3 Y anduvo en todos los pecados que su padre había cometido antes de él; y no fue su corazón perfecto con Jehová su Dios, como el corazón de David su padre.

He walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his God, as the heart of David his father.

4 M as por amor a David, Jehová su Dios le dio lámpara en Jerusalén, levantando a su hijo después de él, y sosteniendo a Jerusalén;

Nevertheless for David’s sake, Yahweh his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem;

5 p or cuanto David había hecho lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, y de ninguna cosa que le mandase se había apartado en todos los días de su vida, salvo en lo tocante a Urías heteo.

because David did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, and didn’t turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

6 Y hubo guerra entre Roboam, y Jeroboam todos los días de su vida.

Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 L os demás hechos de Abiam, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Y hubo guerra entre Abiam y Jeroboam.

The rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? There was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8 Y durmió Abiam con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David; y reinó Asa su hijo en su lugar. Reinado de Asa (2 Cr. 14. 1-5; 15. 16-19)

Abijam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in David’s city; and Asa his son reigned in his place.

9 E n el año veinte de Jeroboam rey de Israel, Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah.

10 Y reinó cuarenta y un años en Jerusalén; el nombre de su madre fue Maaca, hija de Abisalom.

He reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.

11 A sa hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, como David su padre.

Asa did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, as David his father did.

12 P orque quitó del país a los sodomitas, y quitó todos los ídolos que sus padres habían hecho.

He put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

13 T ambién privó a su madre Maaca de ser reina madre, porque había hecho un ídolo de Asera. Además deshizo Asa el ídolo de su madre, y lo quemó junto al torrente de Cedrón.

He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah. Asa cut down her image and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

14 S in embargo, los lugares altos no se quitaron. Con todo, el corazón de Asa fue perfecto para con Jehová toda su vida.

But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with Yahweh all his days.

15 T ambién metió en la casa de Jehová lo que su padre había dedicado, y lo que él dedicó: oro, plata y alhajas. Alianza de Asa con Ben-adad (2 Cr. 16. 1-10)

He brought into Yahweh’s house the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that he himself had dedicated: silver, gold, and utensils.

16 H ubo guerra entre Asa y Baasa rey de Israel, todo el tiempo de ambos.

There was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

17 Y subió Baasa rey de Israel contra Judá, y edificó a Ramá, para no dejar a ninguno salir ni entrar a Asa rey de Judá.

Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

18 E ntonces tomando Asa toda la plata y el oro que había quedado en los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa real, los entregó a sus siervos, y los envió el rey Asa a Ben-adad hijo de Tabrimón, hijo de Hezión, rey de Siria, el cual residía en Damasco, diciendo:

Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that was left in the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered it into the hand of his servants. Then King Asa sent them to Ben Hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who lived at Damascus, saying,

19 H aya alianza entre nosotros, como entre mi padre y el tuyo. He aquí yo te envío un presente de plata y de oro; ve, y rompe tu pacto con Baasa rey de Israel, para que se aparte de mí.

“There is a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent to you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.”

20 Y Ben-adad consintió con el rey Asa, y envió los príncipes de los ejércitos que tenía contra las ciudades de Israel, y conquistó Ijón, Dan, Abel-bet-maaca, y toda Cineret, con toda la tierra de Neftalí.

Ben Hadad listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and struck Ijon, and Dan, and Abel Beth Maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

21 O yendo esto Baasa, dejó de edificar a Ramá, y se quedó en Tirsa.

When Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah, and lived in Tirzah.

22 E ntonces el rey Asa convocó a todo Judá, sin exceptuar a ninguno; y quitaron de Ramá la piedra y la madera con que Baasa edificaba, y edificó el rey Asa con ello a Geba de Benjamín, y a Mizpa. Muerte de Asa (2 Cr. 16. 11-14)

Then king Asa made a proclamation to all Judah. No one was exempted. They carried away the stones of Ramah, and its timber, with which Baasha had built; and king Asa used it to build Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 L os demás hechos de Asa, y todo su poderío, y todo lo que hizo, y las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Mas en los días de su vejez enfermó de los pies.

Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24 Y durmió Asa con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David su padre; y reinó en su lugar Josafat su hijo. Reinado de Nadab

Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in his father David’s city; and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place.

25 N adab hijo de Jeroboam comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en el segundo año de Asa rey de Judá; y reinó sobre Israel dos años.

Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.

26 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, andando en el camino de su padre, y en los pecados con que hizo pecar a Israel.

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin with which he made Israel to sin.

27 Y Baasa hijo de Ahías, el cual era de la casa de Isacar, conspiró contra él, y lo hirió Baasa en Gibetón, que era de los filisteos; porque Nadab y todo Israel tenían sitiado a Gibetón.

Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha struck him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were besieging Gibbethon.

28 L o mató, pues, Baasa en el tercer año de Asa rey de Judá, y reinó en lugar suyo.

Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha killed him, and reigned in his place.

29 Y cuando él vino al reino, mató a toda la casa de Jeroboam, sin dejar alma viviente de los de Jeroboam, hasta raerla, conforme a la palabra que Jehová habló por su siervo Ahías silonita;

As soon as he was king, he struck all the house of Jeroboam. He didn’t leave to Jeroboam any who breathed, until he had destroyed him; according to the saying of Yahweh, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite;

30 p or los pecados que Jeroboam había cometido, y con los cuales hizo pecar a Israel; y por su provocación con que provocó a enojo a Jehová Dios de Israel.

for the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and with which he made Israel to sin, because of his provocation with which he provoked Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger.

31 L os demás hechos de Nadab, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Y hubo guerra entre Asa y Baasa rey de Israel, todo el tiempo de ambos. Reinado de Baasa

There was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

33 E n el tercer año de Asa rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Baasa hijo de Ahías sobre todo Israel en Tirsa; y reinó veinticuatro años.

In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah began to reign over all Israel in Tirzah for twenty-four years.

34 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en el camino de Jeroboam, y en su pecado con que hizo pecar a Israel.

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin with which he made Israel to sin.
