1 A y de los hijos que se apartan, dice Jehová, para tomar consejo, y no de mí; para cobijarse con cubierta, y no de mi espíritu, añadiendo pecado a pecado!

“Woe to the rebellious children”, says Yahweh, “who take counsel, but not from me; and who make an alliance, but not with my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,

2 Q ue se apartan para descender a Egipto, y no han preguntado de mi boca; para fortalecerse con la fuerza de Faraón, y poner su esperanza en la sombra de Egipto.

who set out to go down into Egypt, and have not asked my advice; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt!

3 P ero la fuerza de Faraón se os cambiará en verg: uenza, y el amparo en la sombra de Egipto en confusión.

Therefore the strength of Pharaoh will be your shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.

4 C uando estén sus príncipes en Zoán, y sus embajadores lleguen a Hanes,

For their princes are at Zoan, and their ambassadors have come to Hanes.

5 t odos se avergonzarán del pueblo que no les aprovecha, ni los socorre, ni les trae provecho; antes les será para verg: uenza y aun para oprobio.

They shall all be ashamed because of a people that can’t profit them, that are not a help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.”

6 P rofecía sobre las bestias del Neguev: Por tierra de tribulación y de angustia, de donde salen la leona y el león, la víbora y la serpiente que vuela, llevan sobre lomos de asnos sus riquezas, y sus tesoros sobre jorobas de camellos, a un pueblo que no les será de provecho.

The burden of the animals of the South. Through the land of trouble and anguish, of the lioness and the lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches on the shoulders of young donkeys, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to an unprofitable people.

7 C iertamente Egipto en vano e inútilmente dará ayuda; por tanto yo le di voces, que su fortaleza sería estarse quietos.

For Egypt helps in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I called her Rahab who sits still.

8 V e, pues, ahora, y escribe esta visión en una tabla delante de ellos, y regístrala en un libro, para que quede hasta el día postrero, eternamente y para siempre.

Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.

9 P orque este pueblo es rebelde, hijos mentirosos, hijos que no quisieron oír la ley de Jehová;

For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear Yahweh’s law;

10 q ue dicen a los videntes: No veáis; y a los profetas: No nos profeticéis lo recto, decidnos cosas halag: ueñas, profetizad mentiras;

who tell the seers, “Don’t see!” and to the prophets, “Don’t prophesy to us right things. Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy deceits.

11 d ejad el camino, apartaos de la senda, quitad de nuestra presencia al Santo de Israel.

Get out of the way. Turn aside from the path. Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.”

12 P or tanto, el Santo de Israel dice así: Porque desechasteis esta palabra, y confiasteis en violencia y en iniquidad, y en ello os habéis apoyado;

Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, “Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on it;

13 p or tanto, os será este pecado como grieta que amenaza ruina, extendiéndose en una pared elevada, cuya caída viene súbita y repentinamente.

therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant.

14 Y se quebrará como se quiebra un vaso de alfarero, que sin misericordia lo hacen pedazos; tanto, que entre los pedazos no se halla tiesto para traer fuego del hogar, o para sacar agua del pozo.

He will break it as a potter’s vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing, so that there won’t be found among the broken piece a piece good enough to take fire from the hearth, or to dip up water out of the cistern.”

15 P orque así dijo Jehová el Señor, el Santo de Israel: En descanso y en reposo seréis salvos; en quietud y en confianza será vuestra fortaleza. Y no quisisteis,

For thus said the Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, “You will be saved in returning and rest. Your strength will be in quietness and in confidence.” You refused,

16 s ino que dijisteis: No, antes huiremos en caballos; por tanto, vosotros huiréis. Sobre corceles veloces cabalgaremos; por tanto, serán veloces vuestros perseguidores.

but you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”; therefore you will flee; and, “We will ride on the swift”; therefore those who pursue you will be swift.

17 U n millar huirá a la amenaza de uno; a la amenaza de cinco huiréis vosotros todos, hasta que quedéis como mástil en la cumbre de un monte, y como bandera sobre una colina. Promesa de la gracia de Dios a Israel

One thousand will flee at the threat of one. At the threat of five, you will flee until you are left like a beacon on the top of a mountain, and like a banner on a hill.

18 P or tanto, Jehová esperará para tener piedad de vosotros, y por tanto, será exaltado teniendo de vosotros misericordia; porque Jehová es Dios justo; bienaventurados todos los que confían en él.

Therefore Yahweh will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for Yahweh is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.

19 C iertamente el pueblo morará en Sion, en Jerusalén; nunca más llorarás; el que tiene misericordia se apiadará de ti; al oír la voz de tu clamor te responderá.

For the people will dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he hears you, he will answer you.

20 B ien que os dará el Señor pan de congoja y agua de angustia, con todo, tus maestros nunca más te serán quitados, sino que tus ojos verán a tus maestros.

Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your teachers;

21 E ntonces tus oídos oirán a tus espaldas palabra que diga: Este es el camino, andad por él; y no echéis a la mano derecha, ni tampoco torzáis a la mano izquierda.

and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”

22 E ntonces profanarás la cubierta de tus esculturas de plata, y la vestidura de tus imágenes fundidas de oro; las apartarás como trapo asqueroso;!! Sal fuera! les dirás.

You shall defile the overlaying of your engraved images of silver, and the plating of your molten images of gold. You shall cast them away as an unclean thing. You shall tell it, “Go away!”

23 E ntonces dará el Señor lluvia a tu sementera, cuando siembres la tierra, y dará pan del fruto de la tierra, y será abundante y ping: ue; tus ganados en aquel tiempo serán apacentados en espaciosas dehesas.

He will give the rain for your seed, with which you will sow the ground; and bread of the increase of the ground will be rich and plentiful. In that day, your livestock will feed in large pastures.

24 T us bueyes y tus asnos que labran la tierra comerán grano limpio, aventado con pala y criba.

The oxen likewise and the young donkeys that till the ground will eat savory feed, which has been winnowed with the shovel and with the fork.

25 Y sobre todo monte alto, y sobre todo collado elevado, habrá ríos y corrientes de aguas el día de la gran matanza, cuando caerán las torres.

There shall be brooks and streams of water on every lofty mountain and on every high hill in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

26 Y la luz de la luna será como la luz del sol, y la luz del sol siete veces mayor, como la luz de siete días, el día que vendare Jehová la herida de su pueblo, y curare la llaga que él causó. El juicio de Jehová sobre Asiria

Moreover the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven days, in the day that Yahweh binds up the fracture of his people, and heals the wound they were struck with.

27 H e aquí que el nombre de Jehová viene de lejos; su rostro encendido, y con llamas de fuego devorador; sus labios llenos de ira, y su lengua como fuego que consume.

Behold, Yahweh’s name comes from far away, burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke. His lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a devouring fire.

28 S u aliento, cual torrente que inunda; llegará hasta el cuello, para zarandear a las naciones con criba de destrucción; y el freno estará en las quijadas de los pueblos, haciéndoles errar.

His breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction; and a bridle that leads to ruin will be in the jaws of the peoples.

29 V osotros tendréis cántico como de noche en que se celebra pascua, y alegría de corazón, como el que va con flauta para venir al monte de Jehová, al Fuerte de Israel.

You will have a song, as in the night when a holy feast is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goes with a flute to come to Yahweh’s mountain, to Israel’s Rock.

30 Y Jehová hará oír su potente voz, y hará ver el descenso de su brazo, con furor de rostro y llama de fuego consumidor, con torbellino, tempestad y piedra de granizo.

Yahweh will cause his glorious voice to be heard, and will show the descent of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, storm, and hailstones.

31 P orque Asiria que hirió con vara, con la voz de Jehová será quebrantada.

For through Yahweh’s voice the Assyrian will be dismayed. He will strike him with his rod.

32 Y cada golpe de la vara justiciera que asiente Jehová sobre él, será con panderos y con arpas; y en batalla tumultuosa peleará contra ellos.

Every stroke of the rod of punishment, which Yahweh will lay on him, will be with the sound of tambourines and harps. He will fight with them in battles, brandishing weapons.

33 P orque Tofet ya de tiempo está dispuesto y preparado para el rey, profundo y ancho, cuya pira es de fuego, y mucha leña; el soplo de Jehová, como torrente de azufre, lo enciende.

For his burning place has long been ready. Yes, for the king it is prepared. He has made its pyre deep and large with fire and much wood. Yahweh’s breath, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.
