1 M y son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

¶ Hijo mío, si tomares mis palabras, y mis mandamientos guardares dentro de ti,

2 S o that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

haciendo estar atento tu oído a la sabiduría; si inclinares tu corazón a la inteligencia;

3 Y ea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

si clamares por entendimiento, y a la inteligencia dieres tu voz;

4 I f thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

si como a la plata la buscares, y la escudriñares como a tesoros;

5 T hen shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

entonces entenderás el temor del SEÑOR, y hallarás el conocimiento de Dios.

6 F or the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Porque el SEÑOR da la sabiduría, y de su boca viene el conocimiento y la inteligencia.

7 H e layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

El guarda el ser a los rectos; es escudo a los que caminan perfectamente,

8 H e keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

guardando las veredas del juicio, y el camino de sus misericordiosos.

9 T hen shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Entonces entenderás justicia, juicio, y equidad, y todo buen camino.

10 W hen wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

¶ Cuando la sabiduría entrare en tu corazón, y la ciencia fuere dulce a tu alma,

11 D iscretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

el consejo te guardará, te preservará la inteligencia,

12 T o deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

para librarte del mal camino, del hombre que habla perversidades;

13 W ho leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

que dejan las veredas derechas, por andar por caminos tenebrosos;

14 W ho rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

que se alegran haciendo mal, que se huelgan en malas perversidades;

15 W hose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

cuyas veredas son torcidas, y ellos torcidos en sus caminos.

16 T o deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

Para librarte de la mujer extraña, de la ajena que halaga con sus palabras;

17 W hich forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

que desampara el príncipe de su juventud, y se olvida del pacto de su Dios.

18 F or her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

Por lo cual su casa está inclinada a la muerte, y sus veredas van hacia los muertos.

19 N one that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

Todos los que a ella entraren, no volverán, ni tomarán las veredas de la vida.

20 T hat thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

Para que andes por el camino de los buenos, y guardes las veredas de los justos.

21 F or the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Porque los rectos habitarán la tierra, y los perfectos permanecerán en ella;

22 B ut the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

mas los impíos serán cortados de la tierra, y los prevaricadores serán de ella desarraigados.
