1 H ear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

¶ Oye, Israel: tú estás hoy para pasar el Jordán, para entrar a heredar lo de gentiles más numerosos y más fuertes que tú, ciudades grandes y encastilladas hasta el cielo,

2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak!

un pueblo grande y alto, hijos de gigantes, de los cuales tienes tú conocimiento, y has oído decir: ¿Quién se sostendrá delante de los hijos del Anac?

3 U nderstand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee.

Sepas, pues, hoy, que el SEÑOR tu Dios es el que pasa delante de ti, fuego consumidor, que los destruirá y humillará delante de ti; y tú los echarás, y los destruirás luego, como el SEÑOR te ha dicho.

4 S peak not thou in thine heart, after that the Lord thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the Lord hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord doth drive them out from before thee.

No pienses en tu corazón, cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios los haya echado de delante de tu presencia, diciendo: Por mi justicia me ha metido el SEÑOR a heredar esta tierra; pues por la impiedad de estos gentiles el SEÑOR los echa de delante de ti.

5 N ot for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

No por tu justicia, ni por la rectitud de tu corazón entras a heredar la tierra de ellos; mas por la impiedad de estos gentiles el SEÑOR tu Dios los echa de delante de ti, y por confirmar la palabra que el SEÑOR juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob.

6 U nderstand therefore, that the Lord thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

Por tanto, sepas que no por tu justicia el SEÑOR tu Dios te da esta buena tierra que la heredes; que pueblo duro de cerviz eres tú.

7 R emember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the Lord.

¶ Acuérdate, no te olvides que has provocado a ira al SEÑOR tu Dios en el desierto; desde el día que saliste de la tierra de Egipto, hasta que entrasteis en este lugar, habéis sido rebeldes al SEÑOR.

8 A lso in Horeb ye provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry with you to have destroyed you.

Y en Horeb provocasteis a ira al SEÑOR, y se enojó el SEÑOR contra vosotros para destruiros.

9 W hen I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:

Cuando yo subí al monte para recibir las tablas de piedra, las tablas del pacto que el SEÑOR hizo con vosotros, estuve entonces en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, sin comer pan ni beber agua;

10 A nd the Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the Lord spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

y el SEÑOR me dio las dos tablas de piedra escritas con el dedo de Dios; y en ellas estaba escrito conforme a todas las palabras que os habló el SEÑOR en el monte de en medio del fuego, el día de la asamblea.

11 A nd it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.

Y fue al cabo de los cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, que el SEÑOR me dio las dos tablas de piedra, las tablas del pacto.

12 A nd the Lord said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

Y me dijo el SEÑOR: Levántate, desciende presto de aquí; que tu pueblo que sacaste de Egipto se ha corrompido; presto se han apartado del camino que yo les mandé; se han hecho una imagen de fundición.

13 F urthermore the Lord spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

Y me habló el SEÑOR, diciendo: He visto ese pueblo, y he aquí, que él es pueblo duro de cerviz.

14 L et me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

Déjame que los destruya, y raiga su nombre de debajo del cielo; que yo te haré en nación fuerte y mucho más grande que ellos.

15 S o I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

Y volví y descendí del monte, el cual ardía en fuego, con las dos tablas del pacto en mis dos manos.

16 A nd I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the Lord had commanded you.

Y miré, y he aquí habíais pecado contra el SEÑOR vuestro Dios; os habíais hecho un becerro de fundición, apartándoos presto del camino que el SEÑOR os había mandado.

17 A nd I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.

Entonces tomé las dos tablas, y las arrojé de mis dos manos, y las quebré delante de vuestros ojos.

18 A nd I fell down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

Y me postré delante del SEÑOR, como antes, cuarenta días y cuarenta noches; no comí pan ni bebí agua, a causa de todo vuestro pecado en que habíais pecado haciendo mal en ojos del SEÑOR para enojarlo.

19 F or I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you. But the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also.

Porque temí a causa del furor y de la ira con que el SEÑOR estaba enojado contra vosotros para destruiros. Pero el SEÑOR me oyó aun esta vez.

20 A nd the Lord was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.

Contra Aarón también se enojó el SEÑOR en gran manera para destruirlo; y también oré por Aarón entonces.

21 A nd I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.

Y tomé a vuestro pecado, es a saber el becerro que habíais hecho, y lo quemé en el fuego, y lo desmenucé moliéndolo muy bien, hasta que fue reducido a polvo; y eché el polvo de él en el arroyo que descendía del monte.

22 A nd at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the Lord to wrath.

También en Tabera, y en Masah, y en Kibrot-hataava, enojasteis al SEÑOR.

23 L ikewise when the Lord sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.

Y cuando el SEÑOR os envió desde Cades-barnea, diciendo: Subid y heredad la tierra que yo os he dado; también fuisteis rebeldes al dicho del SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y no le creisteis, ni escuchasteis a su voz.

24 Y e have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew you.

Rebeldes habéis sido al SEÑOR desde el día que yo os conozco.

25 T hus I fell down before the Lord forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the Lord had said he would destroy you.

Y me postré delante del SEÑOR cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, como estuve postrado antes; porque el SEÑOR dijo que os había de destruir.

26 I prayed therefore unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Y oré al SEÑOR, diciendo: Oh Señor DIOS, no destruyas a tu pueblo y a tu heredad que has rescatado con tu grandeza, al cual sacaste de Egipto con mano fuerte.

27 R emember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:

Acuérdate de tus siervos Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob; no mires a la dureza de este pueblo, ni a su impiedad, ni a su pecado;

28 L est the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.

para que no digan los de la tierra de donde nos sacaste: Por cuanto no pudo el SEÑOR introducirlos en la tierra que les había dicho, o porque los aborrecía, los sacó para matarlos en el desierto.

29 Y et they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.

Y ellos son tu pueblo y tu heredad, que sacaste con tu gran fortaleza y con tu brazo extendido.
