1 B ut I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

¶ Esto he determinado en mí, no venir otra vez a vosotros con tristeza.

2 F or if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

Porque si yo os contristo, ¿quién será luego el que me alegrará, sino aquel a quien yo contristare?

3 A nd I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

Y esto mismo os escribí, para que cuando llegare no tenga tristeza de los que me debiera gozar; confiando en todos vosotros que mi gozo es el de todos vosotros.

4 F or out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

Porque por la mucha tribulación y angustia del corazón os escribí con muchas lágrimas; no para que fuerais contristados, sino para que conocieseis cuánta más caridad tengo para con vosotros.

5 B ut if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

¶ Que si alguno me contristó, no me contristó a mí, sino en parte, para no cargaros, a todos vosotros.

6 S ufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

Bástale al tal esta reprensión hecha por muchos;

7 S o that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

para que, al contrario, vosotros más bien lo perdonéis y consoléis, porque por ventura no sea el tal consumido con demasiada tristeza.

8 W herefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.

Por lo cual os ruego que confirméis la caridad para con él.

9 F or to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

Porque también para este fin os escribí, para tener experiencia de vosotros si sois obedientes en todo.

10 T o whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

Y al que vosotros perdonareis, yo también: porque también yo lo que he perdonado, si algo he perdonado, por vosotros lo he hecho en la persona de Cristo;

11 L est Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

para que no seamos engañados de Satanás, pues no ignoramos sus maquinaciones.

12 F urthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

¶ Cuando vine a Troas por el Evangelio del Cristo, aunque me fue abierta puerta en el Señor,

13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.

no tuve reposo en mi espíritu, por no haber hallado a Tito, mi hermano; y así, despidiéndome de ellos, partí para Macedonia.

14 N ow thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Mas a Dios gracias; el cual hace que siempre triunfemos en el Cristo Jesús y manifiesta el olor de su conocimiento por nosotros en todo lugar.

15 F or we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

Porque por Dios somos buen olor de Cristo en los que se salvan, y en los que se pierden;

16 T o the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

a éstos ciertamente olor de muerte para muerte; y a aquellos olor de vida para vida. Y para estas cosas ¿quién es suficiente?

17 F or we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Porque no somos como muchos, mercaderes falsos de la palabra de Dios, sino que con sinceridad, como de Dios, delante de Dios, hablamos en Cristo.
