1 A fter this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

Después de esto abrió Job su boca, y maldijo su día.

2 A nd Job spake, and said,

Y exclamó Job, y dijo:

3 L et the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

Perezca el día en que yo fui nacido, y la noche que dijo: Varón es concebido.

4 L et that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Aquel día fuera tinieblas, y Dios no curara de él desde arriba, ni claridad resplandeciera sobre él.

5 L et darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

Que tinieblas y sombra de muerte sea su redentor; reposara sobre él nublado, que lo hiciera horrible como día caluroso.

6 A s for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Aquella noche ocupara oscuridad, ni fuera contada entre los días del año, ni viniera en el número de los meses.

7 L o, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

¡Oh, si fuere aquella noche solitaria, que no viniera en ella canción!

8 L et them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Maldijéranla los que maldicen al día, los que se aparejan para levantar su llanto.

9 L et the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Las estrellas de su alba fueran oscurecidas; esperaran la luz, y no viniera, ni viera los párpados de la mañana;

10 B ecause it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

por cuanto no cerró las puertas del vientre donde yo estaba, ni escondió de mis ojos la miseria.

11 W hy died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

¿Por qué no morí yo desde la matriz, o fui traspasado saliendo del vientre?

12 W hy did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

¿Por qué me previnieron las rodillas? ¿Y para qué los senos que mamare?

13 F or now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

Pues que ahora yaciera yo, y reposara; durmiera, y entonces tuviera reposo,

14 W ith kings and counsellors of the earth, which build desolate places for themselves;

con los reyes y con los consejeros de la tierra, que edifican para sí los desiertos;

15 O r with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:

o con los príncipes que poseen el oro, que llenan sus casas de plata.

16 O r as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

O ¿por qué no fui escondido como abortivo, como los pequeñitos que nunca vieron luz?

17 T here the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.

¶ Allí los impíos dejaron de molestar, y allí descansaron los de cansadas fuerzas.

18 T here the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.

Allí también reposaron los cautivos; no oyeron la voz del exactor.

19 T he small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

Allí está el chico y el grande; allí es el siervo libre de su señor.

20 W herefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

¿Por qué dio luz al trabajado, y vida a los amargos de ánimo?

21 W hich long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;

Que esperan la muerte, y no la hay; y la buscan más que tesoros.

22 W hich rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

Que se alegran sobremanera, y se gozan cuando hallan el sepulcro.

23 W hy is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?

Al hombre que no sabe por donde vaya, y que Dios lo encerró.

24 F or my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

Porque antes que mi pan, viene mi suspiro; y mis bramidos corren como aguas.

25 F or the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

Porque el temor que me espantaba me ha venido, y me ha acontecido lo que temía.

26 I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.

Nunca tuve prosperidad, nunca me aseguré, ni nunca me reposé; y me vino turbación.
