1 И тъй понеже Христос пострада по плът, въоръжете се и вие със същата мисъл, защото пострадалият по плът се е оставил от греха,

So, since Christ suffered in the flesh for us, for you, arm yourselves with the same thought and purpose. For whoever has suffered in the flesh '> the mind of Christ] is done with sin,

2 з а да живеете през останалото в тялото време, не вече по човешки страсти, а по Божията воля.

So that he can no longer spend the rest of his natural life living by human appetites and desires, but for what God wills.

3 З ащото доволно е миналото време, когато сте живели така, както желаят <да живеят> езичниците, като сте прекарвали в нечистоти, в страсти, във винопийства, в пирования, в опивания, и в омразните идолослужения.

For the time that is past already suffices for doing what the Gentiles like to do—living in shameless, insolent wantonness, in lustful desires, drunkenness, reveling, drinking bouts and abominable, lawless idolatries.

4 О тносно това те се и чудят, и <ви> хулят за гдето не тичате <с тях> в същата крайност на разврата;

They are astonished and think it very queer that you do not now run hand in hand with them in the same excesses of dissipation, and they abuse.

5 н о те ще отговорят пред Онзи, Който скоро ще {Гръцки: Е готов да.} съди живите и мъртвите,

But they will have to give an account to Him Who is ready to judge and pass sentence on the living and the dead.

6 п онеже затова се проповядва благовестието и на мъртвите, тъй щото, като бъдат съдени по човешки в плът, да живеят по Бога в дух.

For this is why the good news (the Gospel) was preached '> in their lifetime] even to the dead, that though judged in fleshly bodies as men are, they might live in the spirit as God does.

7 А краят на всичко е наближил; и тъй, живейте разумно и трезвено, <за да се предавате на> молитва.

But the end and culmination of all things has now come near; keep sound minded and self-restrained and alert therefore for prayer.

8 П реди всичко имайте усърдна любов помежду си, защото любовта покрива множество грехове.

Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins '> disregards the offenses of others].

9 Б ъдете гостолюбиви едни към други без роптание.

Practice hospitality to one another (those of the household of faith). And do it ungrudgingly (cordially and graciously, without complaining but as representing Him).

10 С поред дарбата, която всеки е приел, служете с нея един на друг като добри настойници на многоразличната Божия благодат.

As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as good trustees of God’s many-sided grace '> extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favor].

11 А ко говори някой, <нека говори> като <такъв, който прогласява> Божии словеса; ако служи някой, <нека служи>, като <такъв, който действува> със силата, която му дава Бог; за да се слави във всичко Бог чрез Исуса Христа, Комуто е славата и господството до вечни векове. Амин.

Whoever speaks, oracles of God; whoever renders service, as with the strength which God furnishes abundantly, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ (the Messiah). To Him be the glory and dominion forever and ever (through endless ages). Amen (so be it).

12 В ъзлюбени, не се чудете на огнената изпитня, която дохожда върху вас, за да ви опита, като че ви се случва нещо чудно;

Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality, as though something strange (unusual and alien to you and your position) were befalling you.

13 н о радвайте се за гдето <с това> вие имате общение в страданията на Христа, за да се зарадвате премного и когато се яви Неговата слава.

But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, rejoice, so that when His glory is revealed, you may also rejoice with triumph.

14 Б лажени <сте>, ако ви опозоряват за Христовото име; защото Духът на славата и на Бога почива на вас.

If you are censured and suffer abuse the name of Christ, blessed '> to be envied, with life-joy, and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of your outward condition], because the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, is resting upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

15 Н икой от вас да не страда като убиец, или крадец, или злодеец, или като такъв, който се бърка в чужди работи.

But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or any sort of criminal, or as a mischief-maker (a meddler) in the affairs of others.

16 Н о, ако <страда някой> като християнин, да се не срамува, а нека слави Бога с това име.

But if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but give glory to God that he is in this name.

17 З ащото <дойде> времето да се започне съдът от Божието домочадие; и ако <почне> първо от нас, каква <ще бъде> сетнината на тия, които не се покоряват на Божието благовестие?

For the time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will the end of those who do not respect or believe or obey the good news (the Gospel) of God?

18 И ако праведният едвам се спасява, то нечистият и грешният где ще се явят?

And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become of the godless and wicked?

19 З атова и тия, които страдат по Божията воля, нека предават душите си на верния Създател, като вършат добро.

Therefore, those who are ill-treated and suffer in accordance with God’s will must do right and commit their souls to the One Who created and will never fail.
