1 N ow late on sabbath, as it was the dusk of the next day after sabbath, came Mary of Magdala and the other Mary to look at the sepulchre.

Dopo il sabato, verso l’alba del primo giorno della settimana, Maria Maddalena e l’altra Maria andarono a vedere il sepolcro.

2 A nd behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of Lord, descending out of heaven, came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it.

Ed ecco, si fece un gran terremoto, perché un angelo del Signore, sceso dal cielo, si accostò, rotolò la pietra e vi sedette sopra.

3 A nd his look was as lightning, and his clothing white as snow.

Il suo aspetto era come di folgore e la sua veste bianca come neve.

4 A nd for fear of him the guards trembled and became as dead men.

E, per lo spavento che ne ebbero, le guardie tremarono e rimasero come morte.

5 A nd the angel answering said to the women, Fear not ye, for I know that ye seek Jesus the crucified one.

Ma l’angelo si rivolse alle donne e disse: «Voi, non temete; perché io so che cercate Gesù, che è stato crocifisso.

6 H e is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Egli non è qui, perché è risuscitato come aveva detto; venite a vedere il luogo dove giaceva.

7 A nd go quickly and say to his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and behold, he goes before you into Galilee, there shall ye see him. Behold, I have told you.

E andate presto a dire ai suoi discepoli: “Egli è risuscitato dai morti, ed ecco, vi precede in Galilea; là lo vedrete”. Ecco, ve l’ho detto».

8 A nd going out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to bring his disciples word.

E quelle se ne andarono in fretta dal sepolcro con spavento e grande gioia e corsero ad annunciarlo ai suoi discepoli.

9 A nd as they went to bring his disciples word, behold also, Jesus met them, saying, Hail! And they coming up took him by the feet, and did him homage.

Quand’ecco, Gesù si fece loro incontro, dicendo: «Vi saluto!» Ed esse, avvicinatesi, gli strinsero i piedi e l’adorarono.

10 T hen Jesus says to them, Fear not; go, bring word to my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there they shall see me.

Allora Gesù disse loro: «Non temete; andate ad annunciare ai miei fratelli che vadano in Galilea; là mi vedranno».

11 A nd as they went, behold, some of the watch went into the city, and brought word to the chief priests of all that had taken place.

Mentre quelle andavano, alcuni della guardia vennero in città e riferirono ai capi dei sacerdoti tutte le cose che erano avvenute.

12 A nd having assembled with the elders, and having taken counsel, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,

Ed essi, radunatisi con gli anziani e tenuto consiglio, diedero una forte somma di denaro ai soldati, dicendo:

13 s aying, Say that his disciples coming by night stole him we sleeping.

«Dite così: “I suoi discepoli sono venuti di notte e lo hanno rubato mentre dormivamo”.

14 A nd if this should come to the hearing of the governor, we will persuade him, and save you from all anxiety.

E se mai questo viene alle orecchie del governatore, noi lo persuaderemo e vi solleveremo da ogni preoccupazione».

15 A nd they took the money and did as they had been taught. And this report is current among the Jews until this day.

Ed essi, preso il denaro, fecero secondo le istruzioni ricevute e quella diceria è stata divulgata tra i Giudei fino ad oggi. La missione affidata ai discepoli

16 B ut the eleven disciples went into Galilee to the mountain which Jesus had appointed them.

Quanto agli undici discepoli, essi andarono in Galilea sul monte che Gesù aveva loro designato.

17 A nd when they saw him, they did homage to him: but some doubted.

E, vedutolo, l’adorarono; alcuni però dubitarono.

18 A nd Jesus coming up spoke to them, saying, All power has been given me in heaven and upon earth.

E Gesù, avvicinatosi, parlò loro, dicendo: «Ogni potere mi è stato dato in cielo e sulla terra.

19 G o and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;

Andate dunque e fate miei discepoli tutti i popoli battezzandoli nel nome del Padre, del Figlio e dello Spirito Santo,

20 t eaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have enjoined you. And behold, I am with you all the days, until the completion of the age.

insegnando loro a osservare tutte quante le cose che vi ho comandate. Ed ecco, io sono con voi tutti i giorni, sino alla fine dell’età presente».
