1 A nd king David said to all the congregation, Solomon my son, the one whom God has chosen, is young and tender, and the work is great; for this palace is not to be for man, but for Jehovah Elohim.

Poi il re Davide disse a tutta l’assemblea: «Mio figlio Salomone, il solo che Dio abbia scelto, è ancora giovane, di tenera età, e l’opera è grande; poiché questo palazzo non è destinato a un uomo, ma al Signore, a Dio.

2 A nd I have prepared according to all my power for the house of my God gold for gold, and silver for silver, and brass for brass, iron for iron, and wood for wood; onyx stones, and to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and white marble in abundance.

Ho impiegato tutte le mie forze a preparare, per la casa del mio Dio, oro per ciò che dev’essere d’oro, argento per ciò che dev’essere d’argento, bronzo per ciò che dev’essere di bronzo, ferro per ciò che dev’essere di ferro e legname per ciò che dev’essere di legno, pietre d’onice e pietre da incastonare, pietre brillanti e di diversi colori, ogni specie di pietre preziose e marmo bianco in gran quantità.

3 A nd moreover, in my affection for the house of my God I have given of my own property of gold and silver, for the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary:

Inoltre, per la devozione che porto alla casa del mio Dio, siccome io posseggo in proprio un tesoro d’oro e d’argento, io lo do alla casa del mio Dio, oltre a tutto quello che ho preparato per la casa del santuario,

4 t hree thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses;

cioè tremila talenti d’oro, d’oro di Ofir, e settemila talenti d’argento purissimo, per rivestirne le pareti delle sale:

5 g old for gold, and silver for silver, and for all manner of work by the hands of artificers. And who is willing to offer to Jehovah this day?

l’oro per ciò che dev’essere d’oro, l’argento per ciò che dev’essere d’argento, e per tutti i lavori che devono essere eseguiti dagli artefici. Chi è disposto a fare oggi qualche offerta al Signore ?»

6 A nd the chief fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and the comptrollers of the king's business, offered willingly.

Allora i capi delle case patriarcali, i capi delle tribù d’Israele, i capi delle migliaia e delle centinaia e gli amministratori degli affari del re fecero delle offerte volontarie;

7 A nd they gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of brass, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.

e diedero per il servizio della casa di Dio cinquemila talenti d’oro, diecimila dariche, diecimila talenti d’argento, diciottomila talenti di bronzo e centomila talenti di ferro.

8 A nd they with whom stones were found gave to the treasure of the house of Jehovah, into the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

Quelli che possedevano delle pietre preziose le consegnarono a Ieiel il Ghersonita, perché fossero riposte nel tesoro della casa del Signore.

9 A nd the people rejoiced because they offered willingly, for with perfect heart they offered willingly to Jehovah; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

Il popolo si rallegrò di quelle loro offerte volontarie, perché avevano fatto quelle offerte al Signore con tutto il cuore; e anche il re Davide se ne rallegrò grandemente.

10 A nd David blessed Jehovah in the sight of all the congregation; and David said, Blessed be thou, Jehovah, the God of our father Israel, for ever and ever.

Davide benedisse il Signore in presenza di tutta l’assemblea e disse: «Sii benedetto, Signore, Dio del padre nostro Israele, di eternità in eternità!

11 T hine, Jehovah, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the splendour, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is thine: thine, Jehovah, is the kingdom, and thou art exalted as Head above all;

A te, Signore, la grandezza, la potenza, la gloria, lo splendore, la maestà, poiché tutto quello che sta in cielo e sulla terra è tuo! A te, Signore, il regno; a te, che t’innalzi come sovrano al di sopra di tutte le cose!

12 a nd riches and glory are of thee, and thou rulest over everything; and in thy hand is power and might; and in thy hand it is to make all great and strong.

Da te provengono la ricchezza e la gloria; tu signoreggi su tutto; in tua mano sono la forza e la potenza, e sta in tuo potere il far grande e il rendere forte ogni cosa.

13 A nd now, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

Perciò, o Dio nostro, noi ti ringraziamo e celebriamo il tuo nome glorioso.

14 B ut who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer willingly after this manner? for all is of thee, and of that which is from thy hand have we given thee.

Poiché chi sono io, e chi è il mio popolo, che siamo in grado di offrirti volenterosamente così tanto? Poiché tutto viene da te; e noi ti abbiamo dato quello che dalla tua mano abbiamo ricevuto.

15 F or we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no hope.

Noi siamo davanti a te stranieri e gente di passaggio, come furono tutti i nostri padri; i nostri giorni sulla terra sono come un’ombra, e non c’è speranza.

16 J ehovah our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house to thy holy name, is of thy hand, and is all thine own.

O Signore, nostro Dio, tutta quest’abbondanza di cose che abbiamo preparate per costruire una casa a te, al tuo santo nome, proviene dalla tua mano, e tutta ti appartiene.

17 A nd I know, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. In the uprightness of my heart have I willingly offered all these things; and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, offer willingly to thee.

Io so, o mio Dio, che tu scruti il cuore e ti compiaci della rettitudine; perciò, nella rettitudine del mio cuore, ti ho fatto tutte queste offerte volontarie, e ho visto ora con gioia il tuo popolo che si trova qui farti volenterosamente le sue offerte.

18 J ehovah, God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and direct their hearts to thee!

O Signore, Dio di Abraamo, d’Isacco e d’Israele, nostri padri, mantieni per sempre nel cuore del tuo popolo queste disposizioni e questi pensieri, e rendi saldo il suo cuore in te.

19 A nd give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.

Da’ a Salomone, mio figlio, un cuore integro, perché egli osservi i tuoi comandamenti, i tuoi precetti e le tue leggi, affinché esegua tutti questi miei piani e costruisca il palazzo per il quale ho fatto i preparativi». Salomone proclamato re; morte di Davide

20 A nd David said to all the congregation, Bless now Jehovah your God. And all the congregation blessed Jehovah the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and did homage to Jehovah and the king.

Poi Davide disse a tutta l’assemblea: «Benedite il Signore vostro Dio». E tutta l’assemblea benedì il Signore, Dio dei loro padri; s’inchinarono e si prostrarono davanti al Signore, e davanti al re.

21 A nd they sacrificed sacrifices to Jehovah, and offered up burnt-offerings to Jehovah, on the morrow after that day: a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their drink-offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

Il giorno seguente sacrificarono vittime in onore del Signore e gli offrirono degli olocausti: mille giovenchi, mille montoni, mille agnelli con le relative libazioni e altri sacrifici in gran numero per tutto Israele.

22 A nd they ate and drank before Jehovah on that day with great joy. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him to Jehovah to be prince, and Zadok to be priest.

Mangiarono e bevvero, in quel giorno, in presenza del Signore, con gran gioia; proclamarono re, per la seconda volta, Salomone, figlio di Davide, e lo unsero, consacrandolo al Signore come conduttore del popolo, e unsero Sadoc come sacerdote.

23 A nd Solomon sat on the throne of Jehovah as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

Salomone dunque salì al trono del Signore come re al posto di Davide suo padre; prosperò, e tutto Israele gli ubbidì.

24 A nd all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves to Solomon the king.

Tutti i capi, gli uomini prodi e anche tutti i figli del re Davide si sottomisero al re Salomone.

25 A nd Jehovah magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him royal majesty such as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

Il Signore innalzò sommamente Salomone in presenza di tutto Israele e gli diede un regale splendore, quale nessun re, prima di lui, ebbe mai in Israele.

26 N ow David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.

Davide, figlio d’Isai, regnò su tutto Israele.

27 A nd the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years: he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

Il tempo che regnò sopra Israele fu quarant’anni; a Ebron regnò sette anni, e a Gerusalemme trentatré.

28 A nd he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour; and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

Morì in prospera vecchiaia, sazio di giorni, di ricchezze e di gloria. Salomone, suo figlio, regnò al suo posto.

29 A nd the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer;

Le azioni di Davide, le prime e le ultime, sono descritte nel libro di Samuele, il veggente, nel libro di Natan, il profeta, e nel libro di Gad, il veggente,

30 w ith all his reign and his might, and the times that passed over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.

con tutta la storia del suo regno, delle sue gesta e di quel che avvenne ai suoi tempi, tanto in Israele quanto in tutti i regni degli altri paesi.
