1 E xhorto, pues, ante todo, a que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones y acciones de gracias, por todos los hombres;

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,

2 p or los reyes y por todos los que están en eminencia, para que podamos vivir una vida tranquila y apacible con toda piedad y dignidad.

for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

3 P orque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador,

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

4 e l cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y vengan al conocimiento de la verdad.

who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

5 P orque hay un solo Dios, y un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Jesucristo hombre,

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

6 e l cual se dio a sí mismo en rescate por todos, de lo cual se dio testimonio a su debido tiempo.

who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

7 P ara lo cual yo fui puesto como predicador y apóstol (digo verdad en Cristo, no miento), y maestro de los gentiles en fe y verdad.

For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle ( I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

8 Q uiero, pues, que los hombres oren en todo lugar, levantando manos santas, sin ira ni contienda.

Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. Women Instructed

9 A simismo que las mujeres se atavíen con ropa decorosa, con pudor y modestia; no con peinado ostentoso, ni oro, ni perlas, ni vestidos costosos,

Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,

10 s ino con buenas obras, como corresponde a mujeres que profesan piedad.

but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.

11 L a mujer aprenda en silencio, con toda sumisión.

A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.

12 P orque no permito a la mujer enseñar, ni ejercer dominio sobre el hombre, sino estar en silencio.

But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

13 P orque Adán fue formado primero, después Eva;

For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.

14 y Adán no fue engañado, sino que la mujer, siendo engañada, incurrió en transgresión.

And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.

15 P ero se salvará engendrando hijos, si permanece en fe, amor y santificación, con modestia.

But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
