1 P ablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y el hermano Timoteo, a la iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, con todos los santos que están en toda Acaya:

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth with all the saints who are throughout Achaia:

2 G racia y paz a vosotros, de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. El Dios de toda consolación

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 B endito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

4 e l cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que nosotros podamos consolar a los que están en cualquier tribulación, por medio de la consolación con que nosotros mismos somos consolados por Dios.

who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

5 P orque de la manera que abundan en nosotros los padecimientos de Cristo, así abunda también por medio de Cristo nuestra consolación.

For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.

6 A hora bien, si somos atribulados, es para vuestra consolación y salvación; o si somos consolados, es para vuestra consolación y salvación, la cual se va efectuando al soportar los mismos padecimientos que nosotros también padecemos.

But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer;

7 Y nuestra esperanza respecto de vosotros es firme, pues sabemos que así como sois compañeros en los sufrimientos, también lo sois en la consolación.

and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.

8 P orque, hermanos, no queremos que ignoréis acerca de nuestra tribulación que nos sobrevino en Asia; pues fuimos abrumados sobremanera por encima de nuestras fuerzas, de tal modo que aun perdimos la esperanza de conservar la vida.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life;

9 P ero hemos tenido en nosotros mismos sentencia de muerte, para que no estuviésemos confiados en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos;

indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

10 e l cual nos libró, y nos libra, y en quien esperamos que aún nos librará, de tan gran muerte;

who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us,

11 c ooperando también vosotros a favor nuestro con la oración, para que por muchas personas sean dadas gracias a favor nuestro por el don concedido a nosotros por medio de muchos. Sinceridad de Pablo y demora de su visita a Corinto

you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many. Paul’s Integrity

12 P orque nuestra gloria es esta: el testimonio de nuestra conciencia, que con sencillez y sinceridad de Dios, no con sabiduría carnal, sino con la gracia de Dios, nos hemos conducido en el mundo, y mucho más ante vosotros.

For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.

13 P orque no os escribimos otras cosas sino las que leéis, o también entendéis; y espero que hasta el fin las entenderéis;

For we write nothing else to you than what you read and understand, and I hope you will understand until the end;

14 c omo también nos habéis entendido en parte, que somos vuestra gloria, así como también vosotros la nuestra en el día del Señor Jesús.

just as you also partially did understand us, that we are your reason to be proud as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

15 Y con esta confianza me proponía ir primero a vosotros, para que tuvieseis una segunda gracia,

In this confidence I intended at first to come to you, so that you might twice receive a blessing;

16 y visitaros de paso para Macedonia, y desde Macedonia venir otra vez a vosotros, y ser encaminado por vosotros hacia Judea.

that is, to pass your way into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be helped on my journey to Judea.

17 A sí que, al proponerme esto, ¿usé quizá de ligereza? ¿O lo que me propongo hacer, lo propongo según la carne, para que haya en mí Sí y No?

Therefore, I was not vacillating when I intended to do this, was I? Or what I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, so that with me there will be yes, yes and no, no at the same time ?

18 P ero Dios es testigo fiel de que nuestra palabra a vosotros no es Sí y No.

But as God is faithful, our word to you is not yes and no.

19 P orque el Hijo de Dios, Jesucristo, que entre vosotros ha sido predicado por nosotros, por mí, Silvano y Timoteo, no ha sido Sí y No; sino que ha sido Sí en él;

For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silvanus and Timothy—was not yes and no, but is yes in Him.

20 p orque todas las promesas de Dios son en él Sí, y en él Amén, por medio de nosotros, para la gloria de Dios.

For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.

21 Y el que nos consolida con vosotros en Cristo, y el que nos ungió, es Dios,

Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,

22 e l cual también nos ha sellado, y nos ha dado las arras del Espíritu en nuestros corazones.

who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

23 M as yo invoco a Dios por testigo sobre mi alma, que por ser indulgente con vosotros no he ido todavía a Corinto.

But I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth.

24 N o es que pretendamos dominar sobre vuestra fe, sino que estamos contribuyendo a vuestro gozo; porque por la fe estáis firmes.

Not that we lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are standing firm.
